That ventris is pretty keen! I’ll keep the tempus though. Another comment or was correct, they start he low cut off pretty aggressive in the presets. Guess the programmer isn’t so into sci-if ha. It gets waaayyy more bonkers with the software ( it updates parameters in real time which is dope for trying stuff out). General consensus seems spot on though...get both. Different case uses.
@@kimgaugemusic I'm pretty sure you're wrong on this. It's obvious around 0:45, when he moves to octave 4 on keys, the Tempus sounds brighter than the Ventris, during the same bar played, at about 2:35. Not only that, but the decays on the Ventris are so much more alive, thick and richer. A friend of mine and I both have the Ventris (got mine 'cause of his), and we're both jazz guitar players. The Specular Tempus needs a dual mono mode: delay to output a, reverb to output b. Delay for the main signal, shimmer reverb through a separate amp. That way, you could use a splitter in front of the Specular Tempus, to add an overdrive to the delay and a volume pedal to the shimmer (both have to be in front of the delay or reverb...)

The Ventris seems to be a bit fatter in the bottom end, while the Tempus is more focused and brilliant. Both are lush as anything out there. I wonder where the low cut was on those Tempus presets? They normally start you off with low cut about half way up, but if you want that thing can get FAT.
Thanks for sharing - i was also wondering about the difference between the tempus over the standard reverb pedal. I think I'm more in line with your thought of having a reverb you can set and let be. I'll look at the specular reverb one more time, though the Mercury 7 also looks good for this
Hello. It's exactly what I m thinking about - specular reverb or ventris... Just can't decide! Wanna use with synths and guitar, which of them gives more headroom for synths? and which one you gonna choose from two?)
Hi Vitalic, I chose the Ventris. Some of the Ventris' reverbs sound more natural to me. And being able to combine two different engines with such a WIDE range of parameters to tweak, that's just great. The plus side of the Tempus would be the different delay algorithms, but I now own a Strymon Timeline, so nothing can beat that... I LOVE the reverb sound of the Tempus, but my Specular Reverb V2 can do that just fine. EDIT: you should also read the description of this video. ;)
That's a great info for me. By myself I was felling that something in ventris too. Yeah I read description and decided put big sky out of compare as its a priori yours favorite)) ok now it seems 4 me a decision between specular reverb2 or ventris dual (seems like I want both!) so since you own both of them does specular reverb2 has less headroom for synths than ventris dual? And face to face: specular reveb2 or ventris dual - which of them is your favorite to go for synthesizers?
Vitalic Baklanov : I’m not exactly sure what you mean by headroom, but I do know that all synths I put through all these reverb boxes sound GREAT. Comparing the Specular Reverb (if you are getting one, get the V3!) to the Ventris is not fair, because the Ventris can do sooooo much more. So if the choice is between those two, go for the Ventris. You won’t be disappointed. :)
Hi. can anyone tell me if i will have to run my synths at a low volume through the tempus to avoid distortion and therefore lose output when i am live ? thanks - i need to run my fa06,minilogue xd jupiter 50 at 60-70%% volume for my foldback. also is the ventris the same .thanks
i use a small mixer to govern my input levels to the effects. i guess this means, for my gain staging, the signal leaves the synth at 75-80%, is governed higher or lower to unity, and then sent to the effects loop. the incoming effect is mixed in to the original signal to the wet/dry mix desired, then out to the amp. that's what works for me. it's probably a whole lot easier to do it another way, but it sounds pretty good in my room.
Great video man been watching ur channel for a while savage stuff. Just wondering what preset do you have on the volca FM it sounds amazing I've got a volca fm but not that preset on it. Can you load new presets onto it??
I could say that oscillators can be associated with different vibrational architectures, with which we identify and find ourselves according to particularities, filters represent the way we get to vibrate emotionally, and the effects represent the way in which the structure of our being resonates in the depth of specific sensitivity soul and spirit. The two effects have different psychological and spiritual resonances, as follows: Specular Tempus generates a state of emptiness in consciousness (somehow takes you out of time - stops the mind / a state of "STOP"), while Ventris generates a state of fine adventure, it's like going on a sentimental journey.
I like how solid and forward the ventis reverb sounds like it's not muddy or cloudy just a very bold element. Which is what I tend to minimize reverb because of these qualities so I'm very interested in getting one haha

silverio salazar : By default the minimum tempo is 56bpm, but you can change a global parameter (see the manual) to make it go as low as 10bpm. Also, by changing the tempo resolution to “1/4” each step of the sequencer is a 1/4 note instead of a 1/16 note, so the full sequence will be 4 bars. :)

Bonsaipanda : Great! For me it differs per synth and jam. Sometimes the Ventris can sound a little cold, but other times it produces very rich sounds and I love it. :)

Scelestiis : I’m not familiar with Kaoss Pads, so I wouldn’t be able to tell you. My guess is that it won’t be able to get to this level of quality, since these are considered high-end reverb pedals.
I have the Kp3. It is not really meant to be used like this. The reverbs are very basic and flat compared to these. I found a use for mine hooked to my Volca sample. It makes it real easy to break the beat up and add delays to precise parts. I was about to sell mine before I discovered using it like that.

The algorithms from our award‐winning Specular Reverb V2 / V3 pedals have all been ported to Specular Tempus, improved and expanded with additional parameters and features for deeper tweaking. Some of those algorithms appear with different names in Specular Tempus.”
The added controls for the Spatium algorithm are: “High‐cut, Low‐cut, Wet Panning, Modulation”
is Tempus has temp sync?
MIDI
how are you making the volca fm go so slow?
silverio salazar : By default the minimum tempo is 56bpm, but you can change a global parameter (see the manual) to make it go as low as 10bpm. Also, by changing the tempo resolution to “1/4” each step of the sequencer is a 1/4 note instead of a 1/16 note, so the full sequence will be 4 bars. :)
Interesting effect >> When I hear the Tempus, it's like "wow that's so pretty!" but when the Ventris pushes that space reverb, all the hairs on my arm stick up and my jaw drops to the floor. Definitely getting one.
Bonsaipanda : Great! For me it differs per synth and jam. Sometimes the Ventris can sound a little cold, but other times it produces very rich sounds and I love it. :)
@@SlenterendeBeer That's exactly what it feels like - like the Ventris is sort of lacking character, but it sounds like a synth on it's own when it gets going. I'm so loving the reverb swells on the other jam you guys posted (ua-cam.com/video/ap3eGNf30SE/v-deo.html), been listening to that a lot. Too much. Way too much.
The Ventris sounds higher fidelity and is next level because of its dual reverb abilities not covered here... A more appropriate comparison would be the ST vs Collider because both are single reverbs and delays...
Ventris is better in my opinion.
I picked up a Korg KP3+ for cheap just to add some effects for my volca(also nice for sampling), it seems it can do reverb+delay, but will I be able to get this level of quality? The presets seem more geared towards EDM...
I have the ventris and it’s the best reverb pedal I’ve owned. It has the most authentic spring and plate and the edome is really lush
Yes I agree. I still prefer the Big Sky, because I think it sounds warmer, but it all depends on what you want to use it for. I haven't used the Ventris on guitar, but all guitar demos I hear sound fantastic. :)
I find the Meris Mercury 7 has the best plate...
It sounds good. I don’t how it would sound compared to the TC Electronics Hall of Fame 2, but I really like the sound of my Rhodes and Synths through my HOF 2. A good reverb can be addictive!
Yeah the HOF2 sounds pretty great too. Totally agree about reverb being addictive! :)
I ended up getting the Specular Tempus and it totally blows away the HOF 2. I am considering the VENTRIS and Nemesis.
The Ventris sounds good but thinner. Is it mono?
NO... stereo in / out!

Very Vangelis... 😎
Bladerunner
To me tempus sounds grander and ventris sounds sadder…more emotional. Both mindblowing
Tempus for sure...
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm delicious deep intro!
Sky High Diamonds : Thanks!! :)
It similari to Blade runner's theme
fckin` cool!
Damm !!
when I listen on some great monitors the specular leaves ventris in the dust!
Ventris is superior ...
agree!
So now you believe that specular tempus is da shit
