I am now a pro at two things! Putting down Laminate Flooring and a British accent. "Slide in like a treat."
Thanks lads. No 15 minutes of chat before starting, just straight into the job and step by step guidance. Thanks to modern technology, I can take you to work with me and make myself look like I know what I'm doing. Cheers.
😊👏🏼
I have watched 5 different videos on how to laminate floors since ive just moved in and to save money I needed to learn how to do this. I have to say this video has been the most easiest to understand, its simple, straight forward and honestly the speaker is easy to understand which is exactly what I was looking for thank you for this! when i finish my flooring I will come back to comment on here to let everyone else know how it went
Awesome thanks 😊😊
How did it go?
@benlarge1984 oh shit yeah forgot! Yeah I did it went smoothly especially for my first time
@jhem4420 that's awesome. I'm about to do my shed floor. So been looking for good tips.
@@benlarge1984good luck
When I do flooring I measure halfway in the room screw a straight edge down from end to end and but my flooring against that and complete the flooring going one way then take the wood off and do the same on opposite side. That way the floorings got even cuts either end. That’s just my personal preference of doing it👊 ps love watching yous guys absolute genius and helpful🔥💪
Watched this video so many times I almost memorized the script. I finally did my building and I have to say, it's so much easier once you actually do it. After about 3-4 rows I got it down and did my entire building in about 5 hours. Not sure why I was so scared of screwing up lol. If you're hesitant like I was, just do it. It's really easy. Thanks for the tips and tricks. As far as the tools. I just used a rubber mallet kit sold specifically for this type of job and to cut, I used this guillotine looking cutter the store had so I didn't have to use a single power tool. Saved a bunch of money and no dust clean up doing the manually cutting route as well.
Great vid. What I would add to this- always keep the hoover aroound and make sure there's nothing in the seams, sometimes a tiny particle hardly visible can make your job a nightmare :). Make sure no alien bodies are in the seams nor under laminate.
Absolutely amazing quality. Best instruction I've found. Every DIYer must watch.
This is hands down brilliant from a DIY perspective.
Cheers guys! This is by far and away the best tutorial on UA-cam.
Wow, thanks! 😁😁
I concur. Being a mechanic, I am not well versed in this type of work, but you guys have made a nice, easily understood video. I am now ready to tackle my garden room floor.
this has to be THE most helpful video regarding laminate floor fitting, you are both very watchable and come across as lovely people-thank you
Wow, thank you!
I'm 3 minutes 39 seconds into the video and I can tell it's going to be a brilliant tutorial. Exactly what I'm looking for. In depth and easy to follow. So simple and probably obvious to most, but the cutting of the fibre board to make it fit. I probably would of measured. Awesome tip.
Glad you liked it! Thank you for your comment 😊
Great video. To the point. No waffling about and showed all the equipment used and how to use it. Thankyou lads.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Best flooring tut ive seen esp the way you do quick cuts with minimal measurements
I have done a couple of these floors, but some years ago, and this is a great refresher course!!
Nice one Dave 💪🏼💪🏼
You guys are clever with it! Thanks, I'm more confident laying my laminate now than I was before I watched this. Cheers!....
Thanks for watching
You make it look so easy lads!
Thank you for sharing your tips and expertise.
Will have a go😮
I found it's always helpful to plan out the width of your first row nor only for what will be your last row, but for those obstacles that arise as you go across the room. In your case the 6th row in as you pass that doorway wall. Could put you in a sticky situation leaving a row that needs to be like and inch wide.
Very good. I've done a room before and been held up and scratching my head, it turned out well - but had I seen this vid before it would have taken a fraction of the time. Thanks.
Excellent delivery making it look more approachable, off to do 4 rooms and a hallway this weekend
Thanks. Helpful video!
Awesome, no messing around , appreciate this 👍
You bet 😊😊😊
Nice job! Been doing laminate flooring for a few years now and watching you fit this without knee pads hurts my knees. 😂

Great clear to follow video, well done guys.
Great video! I’ve been following it whilst doing my lounge and it’s going great. But I’m about to run into an issue, there are two doorframes that I’ve undercut and they’re both on the same opposing row as each other. Any tips on fitting the last piece under the door jam??
Thank so so much. Great instructions. This will help me so much. You guys are great teachers.
Thanks 😊
Great video, having a go doing my own when it turns up in a couple of weeks :D However, I've seen some people suggest a space between the underlay panels of 5mm? What's your opinion on this? Would be cool if you had any suggestions on the best under lay too. So many options! (I think I prefer the fibre panels).
Watched other videos but lads yours is a cut above the rest the way you explain the principles and your experience in laying the products is easy to understand thankyou oh so much regards from Budgewoi Australia 🇦🇺

How have u not seen this video, so informative absolutely ❤ for you guys so comical and helpful 😊
Thanks so much!
thanks
So glad that I've found your videos, I've been binge watching them all in preparation for renovating my own house. I do have a couple questions, what are the spacers/expansion for? Should small cuts at the threshold be avoided? And is it wise to have just two different lengths of laminate against one wall i.e. a brick pattern?
Thank you guys and keep up the good work!
Thanks spacers are for expansion yes yes avoid where you can and joints should be random stagger 😊
You mentioned underlay with moisture barrier for concrete floors - is this underlay covered with aluminum foil on one side? Does this aluminum foil cover need to face floor or be on top? Thank you.
Lads, honestly, smashed it with the explanation. Keep up the good work.
I’m a fair newbie to DIY handyman type work for the last 2/3 years (acoustic insulation, carpeting, noggins etc.) - so just diversifying my skills.
3 quick questions:
1. Couldn’t you in theory use the laminate cutter instead of a Jigsaw for the initial piece you did? Guess you’re gonna need a jigsaw for door frames anyway!
2. I didn’t quite get the point around 9:02 about “tiny cuts at either end”? What’s the point in making those markings? As in, average room you’re most liking having to cut down the width of a laminate before you reach end wall?
3. Is the “10mm” expansion from the wall standard? For skirting boards etc. to cover after? I imagine a spacer is 10mm by default then?
Thanks
Thanks much appreciated
1 yes you can
2 basically we want to avoid any bits under 50mm so we plan out ahead of time
3 all depends on the brand they vary from 5-10mm usually spacers are available in any size 😊
I have seen it recommended to lay the first three rows to get everything locked together, before cutting the end bits. Just to make sure the it's all square. But thanks for posting a very good tutorial.
Thanks 😊👏🏼
Would you recommend running some PVA on the clips when joining the boards to reduce swelling when washing the floor?
Thanks for the video 👍
Never hammer the front.....use an end piece connected to it.
Great video lads 👍
Legend! Thanks 😊💪🏼
Such a great video as always thank you! Do you have any advice or recommendations for joining laminate between two rooms? I want it flowing between living room and hallway. Would you have a flooring strip and separate between the two rooms or keep it flush throughout? And keep the pattern direction facing the same way?
We run ours through but it’s is recommended by manufactures to have thresholds between rooms so it’s at your own risk of course 😊
110% do not separate. Have them as 1 whole piece.
Thank me later.
lovely work gents
Thank you! Cheers!
Should I do the expanding gaps between each underly bord and expanding gap from the wall mate thanks
I always put a number on the back of the board and the corresponding number on the underlay, should i ever need to rip the flooring up for a leak and then it can go back down as it was installed originally 👍
How's it going mate, Love the video!! I have a question, please. When checking to see your not left with a tiny bit of floor on either side of the wall (around 9:25 you explain this point), what if you are left with a tiny strip of flooring? How do we over come this? Cheers
if you have a old floorboard and its uneven would you recommend putting down some 6mm ply or sometihng like that and then the fibreboard? Great video time to do some flooring 👍
Yh floor needs to be relatively flat 😊 and thanks 😁
Hi guys awesome video though im not a handy man coz km a woman hehehe just a quick question where did u purchase your underlay material? My pipe burst and so my laminate floors were ruin have patches of floor and rubber just to get us by. But your video is thorough and very informative i would like to try to do it myself just for the time being as have canvass to install one way over my budget which i dont have that money. Thanks for this ❤️❤️❤️
Best video by far and Ive watched a view before I do my floor, can I ask, my laminate is 12mm and intend using 5 mm fibre board underlay but cannot find a suitable sized threshold strip to the landing carpet, they all dont seem deep, enough for the laminate and underlay, or advise me please
A typical z bar will work as you can tip them 😊👏🏼
Great video. Very helpfull
Thank you glad it was helpful 😊
@the home improvements
What is the best way to laminate the area around bay windows?
Hello - I’m looking to do the same. Do I need to lay down a Damp Proof Membrane paint before the fibre boards on my concrete floor? I notice you guys haven’t in this so not sure if it’s an issue or not.
You guys are pretty good but can you do a lawn restoration? 😝
Dammmmm thats an amazing video :) Thank you guys
Our pleasure!
