How long does it take to grow baby anthuriums? Im interested in getting an HUxRed crystallinum baby from Kartal Daun and im afraid that i might kill it
Every seedling is different. Some can reach flowering size in 8 months. Some take a few years. Hybrids usually (but not always) grow much faster than species
plant genetics aren't quite the same as animal genetics. Plant selfing isn't necessarily detrimental, there are some plants that are entirely only self (closed) pollinated. Epidendrum nocturnum, for example, is very rarely cross (open) pollinated in the wild, the flowers more commonly self pollinate before the flower even opens. Soybeans are entirely closed pollinated, in order to cross pollinate soybean plants requires a human to open the embryonic flower and remove the male or female parts (depending on which part you want to mature) and manually transferring the pollen. That being said, aroids developed their specific blooms in order to discourage self pollination by having the male and female parts mature at different times, encouraging cross pollination. This doesn't mean that selfing an Anthurium is genetically detrimental, however. To my knowledge, there hasn't been significant research to determine if wild plants are being pollinated more commonly by neighboring plants or by separate inflos on the same plant. Given the distinct population variability in papillilaminum, I would lean away from open pollination being the norm (at least in that case).
Your videos always brighten up my day. My kinda crazy. Also marianas trench is a perfect name!

Valid points!😁Hopefully more research is done on this subject
