While Roman has gotten a lot better and after 3-5 years the fans finally accepted Roman but those were rough times for wrestling fans. Glad that though HBK main evented 5 Manias he avoided this list

Second, the matches Undertaker had at mania the 3 previous years were all better than the matches Roman had except for 31. And most importantly, Roman being the young wrestler having a match with Taker should've been the one carrying the match, but didn't
@@fernandoreyes680 You cant put ALL of the blame but you can put most of the blame. It takes 2 to dance but its a lot harder when the other person is pushing 50 (or already in his 50's, however old Taker was in that match) and can hardly move that well

imagine how much more hype there’d be around this years brock roman main event if they never fought each other at WM34. 7 years after their first encounter, they fight again on the Grandest Stage but with the roles reversed. woulda been sick
Sorry in WWE it’s all about the ‘moments’ and the idea of longterm storylines is far and few in between And those they do, are generally hit or miss mixed with a bunch of missteps along the way
I just think how much better wm34's main event could have been if we go back to 2017 and had Joe beat Brock for the belt at Great Balls on Fire. Then during the fatal four way at Summerslam just have Roman win it by i dunno pinning Brock who got swarmed by all these hot young studs except Braun crushes Roman the next night to win the title and retains against Brock at Night of Champions. Come 2018 Brock wins it again at lets say the Rumble but now we've got Roman, Braun and an early returning Joe all with grievances about wanting to get the Universal Back. Bam Wrestlemania 34 Brock defending against Roman, Joe and Braun. Could even have Brock retain as he did in the current timeline except this time Braun and Joe would breath life into the awfulness of the match. The whole year-ish story line would have then elevated Braun and Joe into genuine world champions, Roman vs Brock still happens but Joe and Braun give the crowd something to cheer and Brock has some moments of vulnerability that he manages to over come in the end.

It was just the perfect example of the McMahon ego at play. The world title of their company wasn't even the main focus for their biggest show of the year, it was all about the four non-wrestlers in the corners.
Yep, I was at Wrestlemania 34 and I couldn't care less about that main event at all mainly because I couldn't stand Lesnar and I was indifferent to Roman at that point. While they are better than they were 4 years ago, I still don't care about seeing this match, as we've seen it too many times for my liking even if the dynamic is switched around. Not to mention WWE pretty much only caring about this match for the most part doesn't help matters either.
same but now it actually feels a bit worse. Now they dont seem care about anything not Roman nor Brock. I stopped watching when the crowds were removed due to COVID but I havent been able to bring myself back to it since I know everything revolves around those 2 only.
If their 2018 feud never happened & WM31 was their last encounter, then I feel like the majority of the people would be loving this feud. It’s just the repetitiveness that has the audience 50/50. It’s also a HUGE missed opportunity IMO not to have them in a HIAC match. I mean you’ve been forcing this feud for 7 years, at least let it go out on a bang and give us a bloody & stiff hoss war. This is meant to be THE conclusion!
@@fernandoreyes680 I wouldn't be surprised if it was but I don't recall seeing people walk out from where I was at (3rd row in central risers). I remember the chants like "We Want Nicolas", "This is awful!" and "You both suck!" Also, people started throwing out beach balls behind my section and distracted some people including myself and got boos whenever security got one and popped it. I watched the match back on TV, as I didn't pay full attention to it although I tried to. It was lousy and it was finisher overkill!
@@Linator4 Exactly, at least it would add a bit of excitement to the match but I still wouldn't care about it enough to get into it. This is their 3rd Mania match and it looks like it is going to be just another singles match. They had a cage match back in 2018 and that was the only other type of match they had. I would be more annoyed had this match happened at Day One because I would have been "This match just happened not too long ago and we are getting it again?!" I prefer when Mania matches are first time encounters or matches that haven't happened for a while. This match happened 5 months ago (3 if it went ahead at Day One).
Even though The Miz has his fair share of loses at WM, he probably is the only one to ever retain the WWE Championship TWICE no matter the outcome against Cena at the main event.
Convinced that HHH vs. Roman Reigns was almost an intentional burial of Reigns. There’s no reason why this match was a bad as it was. It made Roman look weak and unexplosive. It gave HHH all the cool high spots and moments. It was structured to make HHH both the better technical wrestler (ha!) and he came off looking stronger and more powerful as well. Especially when being stronger and more explosive than every other wrestler on the roster was the point of Roman's character.
I think that they just aren't good at planning great top level matches and HHH probably booked much of the match himself to protect himself. That's kinda how Triple H behaves
the fact that there was a moment with Extreme Close Ups on HHH, Roman and Steph's faces to hide the Mexican wave going through the arena is all you need to know about how bad WM32's main event was
The funny thing is, I really liked the build to HHH/Reigns, it was the best Reigns ever got as a face, and HHH as champion was a nice nostalgia moment for me but I got why others hated it. But the match blew and blew hard for all the reasons given here.
I don't think the built wasn't that impressive. The most interesting part was Dean Ambrose trying to interfere and take the title at Roadblock but that's the only real positive. They tried doing "The Authority angle" again with Reigns but it just didn't work because we wanted Dean Ambrose who was built up better between after The Shield split. Reigns was mostly in the upper midcard then while Ambrose & Rollins were feuding. Then once Sheamus cashed in, everyone saw the writing on the wall. Against anyone other than Sheamus & Triple H, Roman Reigns might have gotten over as a face.
I remember Austin even called HHH out in a Broken Skull Session after his match with Roman, asking who's idea it was to have a nearly 30 minute match and HHH just kind of awkwardly laughed.
I actually don't blame Triple H for that one. Like he TRIED. He's not a company suck-up, he knew the match was being booked into a corner, but you can see that his heart is in it to try to make SOMETHING connect with the audience. It's just the booking. When everyone KNOWS who's walking out champion and you allocate SO MUCH time to a main event that has no real suspense to it the whole thing is just a wash. There was no saving the match. If anything the previous year's main event hurt this one because all the swerving and rug-pulling that saw Rollins walk out champion couldn't apply to this one so everyone knew WWE was telling them to just lay down and take it. In a vacuum I actually kind of like WrestleMania 32 but I get how much of the event is slathered in crap booking and the larger context of what was undermining the company at the time.

The X-Eight Main Event video package played during Drowning Pool’s live performance of ‘Tear Away’. This may not exist in any reproduction, but it was indeed there.
For some reason I remember that performance being placed towards the middle of the show instead of before the main event. Maybe that's my faulty memory though...
I was also there for Reigns vs HHH. It was also my first Mania experience. It deflated the whole building. An awful end to a show where I had an out of body experience and hugged a stranger when Ryder won the Ladder Match. Unfortunately that was the only highlight that night.
I wasn't there but I'd say the women's triple threat was the only highlight of the night with the ladder match just being another car crash ladder match that we've seen before, only making us perk up because of the odd (yet fun) winner.
Watching it from Europe was dreadful. I don't remember seeing anything after the entrance, it was 3 AM, I had to go to uni, I already knew the result and I didn't care, so I went to bed.
Actually, correction on the HHH vs. Y2J entry. There WAS a video package. They just played it earlier during a Drowning Pool performance of "Tear Away". It...it was still weird.

For me it's gotta be HHH vs Jericho at X8. 2 years prior at Fully Loaded they tore the house down, so I was hoping for more of the same. Nope, it was plodding, clumsy, boring heatless and just pants. The decision to put the belts on HHH after not giving Jericho the chance to shine was just the final nail in a sad coffin.
They had an instant story with HHH torn quad. Sure he did it on his own but the walls on the table afterwards was a brutal spot. They should have built the match around this. Triple H angry that Jericho "destroyed his quad" and he was out for almost a year. They should have had a brutal back and forth battle to settle this blood feud.
I really liked that match. I feel some people have it out for that one but honestly it's nowhere near as bad as some say it is. But Triple H and Y2J have had better matches for sure, their Judgement Day 02 match was amazing.
The difference between Meltzer's rating of that match and Hogan's the same show is the prime example of why we need more than one critic to take seriously.
Reigns has so many WrestleMania main events to his name when he was just shoved into the majority of them because WWE wanted him to be a thing when no one was buying it. His last two are alright, sure, but it took so long to get to that point and to ruin three consecutive WrestleMania main events on the road to that success is shambolic. The negative impact of Reigns' run of face main events may have permanently tainted the appeal of the WrestleMania main event. The Miz main eventing XXVII did quite a bit of damage but XXVIII and XXX restored the prestige (29 was just booked poorly, I think there was more potential if they just thought outside of the box--the names involved were definitely marquee names) before the spate of Reigns main events. 31 at least has the "Heist of the Century" but the fact remains Reigns was not being received by the audience as "the guy" casts a shadow over it before the trilogy of ruin.
I agree the match really had a lot of nice spots and many people at the time really enjoyed it. Triple H's win got a great pop too and his pose with the titles is honestly iconic from a moment standpoint. Jericho and HHH would have better matches though.
I agree I personally liked the Match it was great in terms of Workrate but Jericho was the awkward 3rd Wheel and Hogan vs Rock was too awesome to compete with it
Eye-opening (and -rolling) fact: 9 of these 10 matches involve Roman, Taker, Trips, and/or Hogan. The only 'worst' main event to not feature at least one of those august gentlemen is Cena vs. Miz.
Your comment, though while an astute observation, it's also a little deceptive, because it's kind of a byproduct of Main Eventing so many times that statistically speaking you're more likely to have some bad matches
@@jonathonholifield3166Assuming Roman Reigns will main event the upcoming WrestleMania 40, 25 of the 40 WrestleMania main events were main evented by Undertaker, Helmsley, Reigns and/or Hogan. (Add in “era leaders” Hart, Austin and Cena? You’re up to 34 of the 40, leaving only the Orton triple threat match at 30, a celebrity match at 11, the tournament finals at 4, the ladies at 35 and two Lesnar matches at 19 and 36 as the six odd matches out.) This is all to say that there hasn’t been a lot of diversity in the main event circles over the last 40 years.
Spot on with #1. The amount of talent flushed down the drain so Roman could be the top babyface is so disappointing and in the end they had too turn him heel anyway lol. Just replace Mania 33 with Mania 29 and I'd totally agree.
33 was insuffrably lame with how they booked Roman over Taker when all honestly nobody cared about that match even happening. Goldberg vs Lesnar was the main event of the night and should've been the headline.
Then they've done FAR worse after turning him heel, feeding him literally everyone on the roster that had even the slightest chance against him, unifying the titles under him and IMMEDIATELY making him a part timer [despite the fact the entire thing against Lesnar was Roman saying he was always there full time while Lesnar wasn't].
I think Reigns vs Lesnar at 34 is my least favourite just for how angry it makes me. It say's something about the match when fans start booing because the match didn't end in a double count out.
@@sharjeelahmed7913 many fans enjoyed it because it’s the only comeuppance Stephanie got for almost FOUR years. We’re talking years of burying not only the women’s roster, but even the men’s roster. Nobody got one over on Stephanie, other than Vicky Guerrero on her last night with the company. Even then, she got embarrassed before she got revenge on Stephanie. It was a ridiculous run, and one that I think was even worse than Triple H’s infamous reign of terror. At least he had some good matches during that title reign.
Regarding the last one, I’m genuinely realizing now that Triple H always, ALWAYS has the longest match at Wrestlemania since he became part-time, it’s always like half an hour or something close to it.

Triple H vs Roman Reigns at Mania 32 was truly terrible. I know we’re being nice to Triple H because he had to retire, but him booking himself to win the Rumhle, the title, and Main event mania at his age, was so egotistical and BS. Then he proceeds to have a slow, long, crappy, match that failed to get Roman over which is the ONLY way any of this could have been justified

He definitely had a say in it and his pushing for it is what ultimately made it happen. Just like wrestlemanias 18 and 25- he wanted the main event so he got it. Wrestlemania 32 is one of the worst Manias of all time, but it could have been fixed with literally just one change. Roman vs Taker and Triple H vs Shane. Triple H vs Shane makes all the sense in the world, and 2015 was the last good in ring year for Taker so coming into 2016, the match would have been better than what we got a year later.

If anything Dean should have won the belt at Roadblock like everyone wanted, then do Dean defending against Roman in the main event. The one thing I’ve always said about the heel roman reigns and the tribal chief gimmick is that it should have happened years ago. Imagine if they actually turned Roman back then when he had all the heat in the world.
With the exception of “The heist of the century” and last years triple threat, ALL of Reigns WM main events have been terrible. We will see if this year continues the trend.
Nah, even if you didn’t like last years personally it was well performed by all concerned and generally well received. It’s also the only time in Reigns’ run with the universal title where I felt unsure of the outcome.

I think the worst part of the reigns taker match was the finish reigns jogging to the ropes and taker just turning back and forth like a man with dementia not knowing where he is
I think that worst part of it was the fact that Roman kept f-ing up the Tombstone Piledriver spot i am pretty sure they wanted Roman to use that move but Taker was out of that when they did it... (Taker was too big for that move plus i am pretty sure you need strong core muscles to have yourself hosted up for that move. While Roman had to actually hold up Taker in that spot but wasn't tall enough for it...)
I was at WM 33 and dear god, by the time that match started it was 11 bloody 20 PM! Six Hours sitting on a cement bench, watching Old Man Taker's entrance take longer than the Brock/Goldberg match. Taker looked blown up less than 10 minutes in and as soon as the ref counted the 3 I strapped a rocket to my butt and got to my car before the retirement bit even started.
I've said it a billion times. 'Mania 32 is the worse mania in WWE history. in execution and in it's fallout, and the fact that Roman vs HHH beat out 'Mania 9 is the vindication I need.

7/8/9 was a trilogy of trash, and Hogan wasn't even technically _in_ 9, which makes the fact that he ruined it anyway even _worse_ (if he wasn't being crowbarred in, Bret probably _would_ have just been booked to win).

The funny thing is that RoadBlock the pay per view before Wrestlemania 32 had a better main event with Dean against Triple H as people were excited for that match. In another universe where Dean won the title at RoadBlock becomes champion completely rewrites Wrestlemania 32's main event becoming a fatal four way with Dean, Roman, Triple H, and Lesnar fighting for the title in one of the greatest matches WWE would ever see even if Roman won that night. One decision could of made history, but unfortunately we are not in that reality.
It's insane to me how resistant the WWE can be to changing their booking. EVERYONE was cheering Ambrose instead of Reigns, but they refused to change course so many times. And I'll never understand the intentional burying they do to popular wrestlers like Zack Ryder, Daniel Bryan, Rusev, etc.
@@cheyguy1211 I can't help but feel like Vince's ego got severely inflated after he defeated and bought WCW in 2001 to the point that he has become delusional and believes that he is genius that makes him think he can do whatever he wants no matter what and anything that oh so slightly contradicts him gets ignored at best or harshly punished and nothing will change that sadly. Even if by some chance AEW's main show Dynamite's ratings somehow manages to skyrocket beyond Raw ratings and the company making more profits compared to WWE the reality is that the rot in WWE's system has existed for long enough that it will NOT make Vince realize the errors of his way and actually fix the legit terrible stuff like over-scripted promos, horrendous booking, refusal to capitalize on popular wrestlers and over-reliance on past nostalgia but instead try other "methods" that either don't fix anything or actively make things worse like in 2018 when he called up 6 wrestlers from NXT (5 if one counts tag teams as one unit) and when that failed because they called them up without any plans for what to do with them due to lack of planning as usual in WWE they ended up doing the EXACT SAME THING in February when they called up Ricochet, Aleister Black, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa with the latter two as a TAG TEAM that completely IGNORES Ciampa betraying Gargano which shows that Vince has absolutely no knowledge on NXT, at least the important bits like this. Not did they repeats the same mistake as before as well as not knowing what to do with them either but this resulted in the main roster getting bloated to the point that many struggled for air time which was made even worse by the horrendous "Wild Card Rule" that more or less gave the brand split a major concussion enough to put it in a coma for several months until they finally scrapped that garbage rule.
I remember watching Reigns v Triple H live just to see how bad it was going to be. I was hoping for something that would be Botchamania worthy but got an ASMR snoozefest.

Have we ever figured out if the 27 main event ended exactly the way that it was supposed to? Considering you can even see in the picture of his hand being raised that Miz is not even aware what building he's in, was that count out just John on the fly seeing that Miz was in no shape to get back to the ring without extended time?
The funny thing about Roman vs Triple H is that I bought this PPV on TV when the stream happened. And the match went on so damn long, it cut off 10 minutes before the finish... Safe to say I got a refund for my troubles.

I watched Mania 32 in a pub and the main event literally sucked the life out of the room, most people including me left long before it finished, I still haven't seen the full match and I have no intention of ever watching it, can't even imagine how much worse it was in person

As someone who's going to this years mania (my first mania) I'm happy the brock vs roman build up has been as fun and hyped as it has. Only wish it was a no dq or GOD PLEASE a cell match anything that shows us how much these two want to kill each other cause I think it would help just a tad bit more
My least favorite will always be Rock vs Cena 2. You gotta love how Cena shakes Rocks hand and wants to hug him at the end of WM29 but one year before, he blames the Rock for his downfall and his failed marriage Not only did the match throw 2 Wrestlemania main events under the bus but it made the Rock look awful and the story arc made Cena come across like a whiny crybaby who never shows respect to his opponents until after he beats them (rock, CM Punk, Edge, Kevin Owens, etc)

HHH vs Orton should’ve been no DQ. Just a straight up brawl. That would’ve fixed the whole thing. Sure, they weren’t going to live up to the Michaels vs Taker masterclass, but it would’ve been fun at least. WWE decided to the opposite.
Honestly if they went full on brutal with that match like we know they could. Blood, weapons and just a ton of passion from both then it would've been an all-timer imo. Even HHH and Orton admit that it should've been no DQ.
Becky v Charlotte v Ronda was really bad. Crowd was exhausted from a far too long show, the build had been bafflingly overbooked, and the didn’t even get to have a proper finish because of the botched pin. Being the first Wrestlemania Main Event featuring women wrestlers, the failure was extra disappointing. Thankfully Sasha and Bianca made up for it a couple of years later.
If only WrestleMania 35 was separated into two nights with Night 1 having Daniel Bryan vs Kofi Kingston and Night 2 having Becky vs Charlotte vs Ronda.
I think the match has gotten hurt by retrospect, having now had Sasha and Bianca just kill it at Wrestlemania. The botched pin definitely didn't help it, nor the audibly exhausted audience. It's a match where it started strong, slowed a lot and has some awkward moves like Charlotte's double Natural Selection completely whiffing, got strong again, and then just ended awkwardly. It should have cut out about 5 minutes and it would have aged better.
This year I’ll be attending my first wrestlemania too and well ima just lower my expectations just a little bit I’m excited but at the same time nervous 😬
That’s probably a fair and reasonable approach If you go in at a neutral opinion and excitement level it makes it easier to appreciate the good and the bad especially if they end up doing better then is presently expected of them and then you’ll enjoy it much better And if any sucks you won’t feel to disappointed cause you were expecting it to suck to begin with, or at least on some level Not the greatest mindset to go into a big PPV with but with how shaky this Mania has been built it’s not a bad coping method At least in my opinion
WrestleMania 34 on paper had so much potential. Lesnar v. Reigns could've been good under better circumstances, Styles v. Nakamura should've been good. Undertaker v. Cena at a WrestleMania would've been good a few years earlier. Charlotte Flair versus an undefeated Asuka was supposed to be Asuka's crowning moment. And Daniel Bryan returned to action after 3 years away. It started well enough with the IC Title 3-way, but then Charlotte nonsensically ended Asuka's 900+ day undefeated streak only to lose to a MITB cash-in a couple days later. Rousey & Angle v. Triple H & Stephanie was good fun and better than it had any right to be with a broken down Angle, an aging Triple H, a debuting Rousey and a non-wrestler in Stephanie. Cena v. Undertaker was a 2-minute squash and never led to anything else more substantial down the line. I would've accepted a longer Cena v. Taker rematch in Saudi over the Undertaker v. Goldberg disaster we got. Styles v. Nakamura was disappointing with a heel turn that sapped what main event draw Shinsuke had left, so he could become obsessed with hitting AJ in the balls at every opportunity then settle into the mid-card where he has existed ever since. And Lesnar v. Reigns was a drawn-out borefest. Bryan returning was decent, when he was involved with Owens and Zayn and it wasn't a typical Shane McMahon match. Oh and Braun Strowman won the Tag Team Titles with a kid for a day.
34 was the worst Main Event ever. Brock was built to beat Samoa Joe who had some amazing promo's in WWE of the last decade and lost. Braun who was booked like a true monster over everyone and lost, even Roman lost. This was just one of those things you realise WWE in 2010's was at some of it's worst creativly when they were handling the main event area.
Honestly I like WrestleMania 9. I'm okay with Yokozuna winning because I played WWE 2K14 and to me it made since Bret Hart won the title back the next year. Yokozuna was also built up in 2K14 as undefeated only losing at Survivor Series but he was counted out while everyone else was pinned. If Vince McMahon was smart Yokozuna would have won the Royal Rumble, beat Bret Hart at WrestleMania IX, defeated Hogan at KOTR, defeated Lex Luthor at SummerSlam, the foreign team would win at Survivor Series, he'd retain against Flair at Royal Rumble, then lose to Bret Hart at WrestleMania X before going on a short losing streak, then 50-50 booking, then he's team loses Survivor Series in a 4V4 rematch if everyone who was in that match 93 was still in the company (if not, screw it you could still do America vs Foreigners), and then go back to 50-50 booking if you have no plans for him. I know it sounds bad but people back then didn't care as much about 50-50 booking like they do now.

It's like booking Yestlemania or the main event of WrestleMania 35, all you do is go with obvious choice and not complicate things by adding in someone else. And if you do add someone else, at least make it make sense. I wouldn't have minded Asuka being in the main event of WrestleMania 35, so long as it's an elimination match where either a) Asuka eliminates Charlotte Flair to avenge her lostat WrestleMania the previous year or b) Charlotte beats Asuka because Asuka took her SmackDown Women's Championship at WrestleMania 34. Either way Ronda Rousey eliminates them then loses to Becky Lynch.

AEW's main problem is that their booking is so good if they mess up on anything people are mad because the expectations are so high WWE on the other hand has had so many bad moments (which somehow keep increasing) that people expect the worse and are pleasantly surprised if its just good, and this video really reminded me of how many bad Mania moments there have been
Yeah I remember watching HHH vs Reigns at 32 and just being bored out of my mind. The only thing I can remember from that match, is that I liked Stephanie’s outfit lol that’s it. Couldn’t tell you a single spot from that snoozefest
This guy called Sgt Slaughter a “forever midcarder” lmao Slaughter was a HUGE star in the early 80s in wrestling and on television. He headlined Madison square garden and large venues around the world for years. It just happened in the WWF before 1985 and then in other places back when wrestling wasn’t just one company.
I'm glad that you acknowledged that Mania 9 should have been main evented by Hart vs Savage and it could have been a great match and a torch-passing moment to the Hitman, crowning the real top guy of the "New Generation".
devil's advocate for the dq rule in orton vs triple h. I think the idea of Orton making hhh so mad that it's going to be difficult to focus on their "chess match" made orton seem like the "new cerebral assassin"
Honorable mention for this list could have been Mania 29, Rock vs Cena 2 shouldn't have happened. It should have been Rock vs CM Punk but he was being forced into a rather decent fight with Undertaker but back then we could have gotten possibly Undertaker vs Cena that didn't feel like the final breath of Shovelbearing Corpse Carrier blowing over Fruity Pebbles Incarnate in just 5 minutes. Let this sink in: we could have got The Rock vs CM Punk with Paul Heyman where Punk reclaimed the title, and we could have gotten Undertaker vs John Cena when both were at respectable physical shape in their careers. Now with that out of the way, I have an idea for another video: 2 years ago Adam and Wrestletalk made the 10 Best Wrestlemanias video and posted it when Mania 36 was coming. Now we could have 10 Worst Manias before Mania 38 on PartsFunKnown. We saw the best ppvs now we may or may not wanna know your take for the worst. Sgt Slaughter was not a perennial midcarder. In the early 1980s he was the biggest babyface in WWF. That is why he got made into a cartoon character on GI Joe. This deal eventually caused him to leave the WWF and then Hulk Hogan took off, while Slaughter was caught in the dying AWA

Every match on this list includes crappy in-ring chemistry. Vince never saw why putting Lesnar vs Goldrerg vs Taker is terrible idea. Roman vs either of those is a crap, unless some character in-ring work could be performed. Ambrose wanted to do that with Lesnar (the only way this match could be good).
Hogan Slaughter also brainwashed kids born in 1991 like myself into thinking that Sgt. Slaughter was a huuuge star after that, when in reality, he was Jinder.
In 1992 Warrior was gone by Survivor Series. Not SummerSlam, where he wrestled Macho Man for the title. At Wembley Stadium. I figured a plonker like Adam would have known that.

And those they do, are generally hit or miss mixed with a bunch of missteps along the way
I just think how much better wm34's main event could have been if we go back to 2017 and had Joe beat Brock for the belt at Great Balls on Fire. Then during the fatal four way at Summerslam just have Roman win it by i dunno pinning Brock who got swarmed by all these hot young studs except Braun crushes Roman the next night to win the title and retains against Brock at Night of Champions.
Come 2018 Brock wins it again at lets say the Rumble but now we've got Roman, Braun and an early returning Joe all with grievances about wanting to get the Universal Back. Bam Wrestlemania 34 Brock defending against Roman, Joe and Braun.
Could even have Brock retain as he did in the current timeline except this time Braun and Joe would breath life into the awfulness of the match.
The whole year-ish story line would have then elevated Braun and Joe into genuine world champions, Roman vs Brock still happens but Joe and Braun give the crowd something to cheer and Brock has some moments of vulnerability that he manages to over come in the end.

It was just the perfect example of the McMahon ego at play. The world title of their company wasn't even the main focus for their biggest show of the year, it was all about the four non-wrestlers in the corners.

Yep, I was at Wrestlemania 34 and I couldn't care less about that main event at all mainly because I couldn't stand Lesnar and I was indifferent to Roman at that point. While they are better than they were 4 years ago, I still don't care about seeing this match, as we've seen it too many times for my liking even if the dynamic is switched around. Not to mention WWE pretty much only caring about this match for the most part doesn't help matters either.

I've heard stories from people who attended mania 34 that during the main event people walked out, is it true?
If their 2018 feud never happened & WM31 was their last encounter, then I feel like the majority of the people would be loving this feud. It’s just the repetitiveness that has the audience 50/50.
It’s also a HUGE missed opportunity IMO not to have them in a HIAC match. I mean you’ve been forcing this feud for 7 years, at least let it go out on a bang and give us a bloody & stiff hoss war. This is meant to be THE conclusion!

Also, people started throwing out beach balls behind my section and distracted some people including myself and got boos whenever security got one and popped it. I watched the match back on TV, as I didn't pay full attention to it although I tried to. It was lousy and it was finisher overkill!
@@Linator4 Exactly, at least it would add a bit of excitement to the match but I still wouldn't care about it enough to get into it. This is their 3rd Mania match and it looks like it is going to be just another singles match. They had a cage match back in 2018 and that was the only other type of match they had.
I would be more annoyed had this match happened at Day One because I would have been "This match just happened not too long ago and we are getting it again?!" I prefer when Mania matches are first time encounters or matches that haven't happened for a while. This match happened 5 months ago (3 if it went ahead at Day One).
As bland as the WM 27 Main Event was, that Miz Hate Me Now video package is phenomenal
Even though The Miz has his fair share of loses at WM, he probably is the only one to ever retain the WWE Championship TWICE no matter the outcome against Cena at the main event.
A travesty that big show, sid, the miz slaughter and lawrence taylor each have a Wrestlemania main event(sid has 2) but Kane doesnt

Convinced that HHH vs. Roman Reigns was almost an intentional burial of Reigns. There’s no reason why this match was a bad as it was. It made Roman look weak and unexplosive. It gave HHH all the cool high spots and moments. It was structured to make HHH both the better technical wrestler (ha!) and he came off looking stronger and more powerful as well. Especially when being stronger and more explosive than every other wrestler on the roster was the point of Roman's character.
They did the same thing to Cena in 06.
As part of the crowd of WM 32, no one was into it. People booed, cheered for sami zayn, then left eariler.

I think that they just aren't good at planning great top level matches and HHH probably booked much of the match himself to protect himself. That's kinda how Triple H behaves

the fact that there was a moment with Extreme Close Ups on HHH, Roman and Steph's faces to hide the Mexican wave going through the arena is all you need to know about how bad WM32's main event was
The funny thing is, I really liked the build to HHH/Reigns, it was the best Reigns ever got as a face, and HHH as champion was a nice nostalgia moment for me but I got why others hated it. But the match blew and blew hard for all the reasons given here.
Really enjoyed the build of wrestlemania 32 but unfortunately the show was lackluster. Regardless, 2016 was one of the best years of the 2010s.
I don't think the built wasn't that impressive. The most interesting part was Dean Ambrose trying to interfere and take the title at Roadblock but that's the only real positive. They tried doing "The Authority angle" again with Reigns but it just didn't work because we wanted Dean Ambrose who was built up better between after The Shield split. Reigns was mostly in the upper midcard then while Ambrose & Rollins were feuding. Then once Sheamus cashed in, everyone saw the writing on the wall. Against anyone other than Sheamus & Triple H, Roman Reigns might have gotten over as a face.
2013 was the better year in my all the big 4 were good especially summer slam the best vs the beast Cw a vs d bry

I remember Austin even called HHH out in a Broken Skull Session after his match with Roman, asking who's idea it was to have a nearly 30 minute match and HHH just kind of awkwardly laughed.
I actually don't blame Triple H for that one. Like he TRIED. He's not a company suck-up, he knew the match was being booked into a corner, but you can see that his heart is in it to try to make SOMETHING connect with the audience.
It's just the booking. When everyone KNOWS who's walking out champion and you allocate SO MUCH time to a main event that has no real suspense to it the whole thing is just a wash. There was no saving the match.
If anything the previous year's main event hurt this one because all the swerving and rug-pulling that saw Rollins walk out champion couldn't apply to this one so everyone knew WWE was telling them to just lay down and take it.
In a vacuum I actually kind of like WrestleMania 32 but I get how much of the event is slathered in crap booking and the larger context of what was undermining the company at the time.

The X-Eight Main Event video package played during Drowning Pool’s live performance of ‘Tear Away’. This may not exist in any reproduction, but it was indeed there.
For some reason I remember that performance being placed towards the middle of the show instead of before the main event. Maybe that's my faulty memory though...

I was also there for Reigns vs HHH. It was also my first Mania experience. It deflated the whole building. An awful end to a show where I had an out of body experience and hugged a stranger when Ryder won the Ladder Match. Unfortunately that was the only highlight that night.
I wasn't there but I'd say the women's triple threat was the only highlight of the night with the ladder match just being another car crash ladder match that we've seen before, only making us perk up because of the odd (yet fun) winner.
Watching it from Europe was dreadful. I don't remember seeing anything after the entrance, it was 3 AM, I had to go to uni, I already knew the result and I didn't care, so I went to bed.

For me it's gotta be HHH vs Jericho at X8. 2 years prior at Fully Loaded they tore the house down, so I was hoping for more of the same.
Nope, it was plodding, clumsy, boring heatless and just pants. The decision to put the belts on HHH after not giving Jericho the chance to shine was just the final nail in a sad coffin.
They had an instant story with HHH torn quad. Sure he did it on his own but the walls on the table afterwards was a brutal spot. They should have built the match around this. Triple H angry that Jericho "destroyed his quad" and he was out for almost a year. They should have had a brutal back and forth battle to settle this blood feud.

I really liked that match. I feel some people have it out for that one but honestly it's nowhere near as bad as some say it is. But Triple H and Y2J have had better matches for sure, their Judgement Day 02 match was amazing.
The difference between Meltzer's rating of that match and Hogan's the same show is the prime example of why we need more than one critic to take seriously.
Main events of 32, 33 and 34 were so lousy and unwatchable. They were one of the main factors why fans were rejecting the Big Dog

Reigns has so many WrestleMania main events to his name when he was just shoved into the majority of them because WWE wanted him to be a thing when no one was buying it. His last two are alright, sure, but it took so long to get to that point and to ruin three consecutive WrestleMania main events on the road to that success is shambolic.
The negative impact of Reigns' run of face main events may have permanently tainted the appeal of the WrestleMania main event. The Miz main eventing XXVII did quite a bit of damage but XXVIII and XXX restored the prestige (29 was just booked poorly, I think there was more potential if they just thought outside of the box--the names involved were definitely marquee names) before the spate of Reigns main events. 31 at least has the "Heist of the Century" but the fact remains Reigns was not being received by the audience as "the guy" casts a shadow over it before the trilogy of ruin.
To be fair Triple H vs. Jericho was actually an awesome match it just had no hope going on after Hogan vs. Rock
I agree the match really had a lot of nice spots and many people at the time really enjoyed it. Triple H's win got a great pop too and his pose with the titles is honestly iconic from a moment standpoint. Jericho and HHH would have better matches though.
I agree I personally liked the Match it was great in terms of Workrate but Jericho was the awkward 3rd Wheel and Hogan vs Rock was too awesome to compete with it
Eye-opening (and -rolling) fact: 9 of these 10 matches involve Roman, Taker, Trips, and/or Hogan. The only 'worst' main event to not feature at least one of those august gentlemen is Cena vs. Miz.
Your comment, though while an astute observation, it's also a little deceptive, because it's kind of a byproduct of Main Eventing so many times that statistically speaking you're more likely to have some bad matches

(Add in “era leaders” Hart, Austin and Cena? You’re up to 34 of the 40, leaving only the Orton triple threat match at 30, a celebrity match at 11, the tournament finals at 4, the ladies at 35 and two Lesnar matches at 19 and 36 as the six odd matches out.)
This is all to say that there hasn’t been a lot of diversity in the main event circles over the last 40 years.

Then they've done FAR worse after turning him heel, feeding him literally everyone on the roster that had even the slightest chance against him, unifying the titles under him and IMMEDIATELY making him a part timer [despite the fact the entire thing against Lesnar was Roman saying he was always there full time while Lesnar wasn't].
I think Reigns vs Lesnar at 34 is my least favourite just for how angry it makes me. It say's something about the match when fans start booing because the match didn't end in a double count out.

Triple H vs Roman Reigns is definitely my least favorite. Literally, Triple H's entrance is the only thing I liked about it.

Nobody got one over on Stephanie, other than Vicky Guerrero on her last night with the company. Even then, she got embarrassed before she got revenge on Stephanie. It was a ridiculous run, and one that I think was even worse than Triple H’s infamous reign of terror. At least he had some good matches during that title reign.
Regarding the last one, I’m genuinely realizing now that Triple H always, ALWAYS has the longest match at Wrestlemania since he became part-time, it’s always like half an hour or something close to it.

I know we’re being nice to Triple H because he had to retire, but him booking himself to win the Rumhle, the title, and Main event mania at his age, was so egotistical and BS. Then he proceeds to have a slow, long, crappy, match that failed to get Roman over which is the ONLY way any of this could have been justified

Roman vs Taker and Triple H vs Shane. Triple H vs Shane makes all the sense in the world, and 2015 was the last good in ring year for Taker so coming into 2016, the match would have been better than what we got a year later.

Nah, even if you didn’t like last years personally it was well performed by all concerned and generally well received. It’s also the only time in Reigns’ run with the universal title where I felt unsure of the outcome.

I think the worst part of the reigns taker match was the finish reigns jogging to the ropes and taker just turning back and forth like a man with dementia not knowing where he is
I think that worst part of it was the fact that Roman kept f-ing up the Tombstone Piledriver spot i am pretty sure they wanted Roman to use that move but Taker was out of that when they did it... (Taker was too big for that move plus i am pretty sure you need strong core muscles to have yourself hosted up for that move. While Roman had to actually hold up Taker in that spot but wasn't tall enough for it...)
I was at WM 33 and dear god, by the time that match started it was 11 bloody 20 PM! Six Hours sitting on a cement bench, watching Old Man Taker's entrance take longer than the Brock/Goldberg match.
Taker looked blown up less than 10 minutes in and as soon as the ref counted the 3 I strapped a rocket to my butt and got to my car before the retirement bit even started.
I've said it a billion times. 'Mania 32 is the worse mania in WWE history. in execution and in it's fallout, and the fact that Roman vs HHH beat out 'Mania 9 is the vindication I need.

The funny thing is that RoadBlock the pay per view before Wrestlemania 32 had a better main event with Dean against Triple H as people were excited for that match. In another universe where Dean won the title at RoadBlock becomes champion completely rewrites Wrestlemania 32's main event becoming a fatal four way with Dean, Roman, Triple H, and Lesnar fighting for the title in one of the greatest matches WWE would ever see even if Roman won that night. One decision could of made history, but unfortunately we are not in that reality.
It's insane to me how resistant the WWE can be to changing their booking. EVERYONE was cheering Ambrose instead of Reigns, but they refused to change course so many times. And I'll never understand the intentional burying they do to popular wrestlers like Zack Ryder, Daniel Bryan, Rusev, etc.
@@cheyguy1211 I can't help but feel like Vince's ego got severely inflated after he defeated and bought WCW in 2001 to the point that he has become delusional and believes that he is genius that makes him think he can do whatever he wants no matter what and anything that oh so slightly contradicts him gets ignored at best or harshly punished and nothing will change that sadly. Even if by some chance AEW's main show Dynamite's ratings somehow manages to skyrocket beyond Raw ratings and the company making more profits compared to WWE the reality is that the rot in WWE's system has existed for long enough that it will NOT make Vince realize the errors of his way and actually fix the legit terrible stuff like over-scripted promos, horrendous booking, refusal to capitalize on popular wrestlers and over-reliance on past nostalgia but instead try other "methods" that either don't fix anything or actively make things worse like in 2018 when he called up 6 wrestlers from NXT (5 if one counts tag teams as one unit) and when that failed because they called them up without any plans for what to do with them due to lack of planning as usual in WWE they ended up doing the EXACT SAME THING in February when they called up Ricochet, Aleister Black, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa with the latter two as a TAG TEAM that completely IGNORES Ciampa betraying Gargano which shows that Vince has absolutely no knowledge on NXT, at least the important bits like this. Not did they repeats the same mistake as before as well as not knowing what to do with them either but this resulted in the main roster getting bloated to the point that many struggled for air time which was made even worse by the horrendous "Wild Card Rule" that more or less gave the brand split a major concussion enough to put it in a coma for several months until they finally scrapped that garbage rule.

Not only did the match throw 2 Wrestlemania main events under the bus but it made the Rock look awful and the story arc made Cena come across like a whiny crybaby who never shows respect to his opponents until after he beats them (rock, CM Punk, Edge, Kevin Owens, etc)

HHH vs Orton should’ve been no DQ. Just a straight up brawl. That would’ve fixed the whole thing. Sure, they weren’t going to live up to the Michaels vs Taker masterclass, but it would’ve been fun at least. WWE decided to the opposite.
Honestly if they went full on brutal with that match like we know they could. Blood, weapons and just a ton of passion from both then it would've been an all-timer imo. Even HHH and Orton admit that it should've been no DQ.

Wrestlemania 32 was the cursed mania, so many wrestlers were injured.
Becky v Charlotte v Ronda was really bad. Crowd was exhausted from a far too long show, the build had been bafflingly overbooked, and the didn’t even get to have a proper finish because of the botched pin. Being the first Wrestlemania Main Event featuring women wrestlers, the failure was extra disappointing. Thankfully Sasha and Bianca made up for it a couple of years later.
If only WrestleMania 35 was separated into two nights with Night 1 having Daniel Bryan vs Kofi Kingston and Night 2 having Becky vs Charlotte vs Ronda.

I think the match has gotten hurt by retrospect, having now had Sasha and Bianca just kill it at Wrestlemania. The botched pin definitely didn't help it, nor the audibly exhausted audience. It's a match where it started strong, slowed a lot and has some awkward moves like Charlotte's double Natural Selection completely whiffing, got strong again, and then just ended awkwardly. It should have cut out about 5 minutes and it would have aged better.

If you go in at a neutral opinion and excitement level it makes it easier to appreciate the good and the bad especially if they end up doing better then is presently expected of them and then you’ll enjoy it much better
And if any sucks you won’t feel to disappointed cause you were expecting it to suck to begin with, or at least on some level

Match wasn’t Miz’s fault, the concussion was Cena’s fault.
WrestleMania 34 on paper had so much potential. Lesnar v. Reigns could've been good under better circumstances, Styles v. Nakamura should've been good. Undertaker v. Cena at a WrestleMania would've been good a few years earlier. Charlotte Flair versus an undefeated Asuka was supposed to be Asuka's crowning moment. And Daniel Bryan returned to action after 3 years away.
It started well enough with the IC Title 3-way, but then Charlotte nonsensically ended Asuka's 900+ day undefeated streak only to lose to a MITB cash-in a couple days later. Rousey & Angle v. Triple H & Stephanie was good fun and better than it had any right to be with a broken down Angle, an aging Triple H, a debuting Rousey and a non-wrestler in Stephanie. Cena v. Undertaker was a 2-minute squash and never led to anything else more substantial down the line. I would've accepted a longer Cena v. Taker rematch in Saudi over the Undertaker v. Goldberg disaster we got.
Styles v. Nakamura was disappointing with a heel turn that sapped what main event draw Shinsuke had left, so he could become obsessed with hitting AJ in the balls at every opportunity then settle into the mid-card where he has existed ever since. And Lesnar v. Reigns was a drawn-out borefest. Bryan returning was decent, when he was involved with Owens and Zayn and it wasn't a typical Shane McMahon match. Oh and Braun Strowman won the Tag Team Titles with a kid for a day.
Brock vs Roman was not a bad match. The fans didn't care, it's that simple. Only a twist (double turn) would've saved that match

Hogan vs yokozuna is easily the worst
34 was the worst Main Event ever. Brock was built to beat Samoa Joe who had some amazing promo's in WWE of the last decade and lost. Braun who was booked like a true monster over everyone and lost, even Roman lost. This was just one of those things you realise WWE in 2010's was at some of it's worst creativly when they were handling the main event area.

Honestly I like WrestleMania 9. I'm okay with Yokozuna winning because I played WWE 2K14 and to me it made since Bret Hart won the title back the next year. Yokozuna was also built up in 2K14 as undefeated only losing at Survivor Series but he was counted out while everyone else was pinned. If Vince McMahon was smart Yokozuna would have won the Royal Rumble, beat Bret Hart at WrestleMania IX, defeated Hogan at KOTR, defeated Lex Luthor at SummerSlam, the foreign team would win at Survivor Series, he'd retain against Flair at Royal Rumble, then lose to Bret Hart at WrestleMania X before going on a short losing streak, then 50-50 booking, then he's team loses Survivor Series in a 4V4 rematch if everyone who was in that match 93 was still in the company (if not, screw it you could still do America vs Foreigners), and then go back to 50-50 booking if you have no plans for him. I know it sounds bad but people back then didn't care as much about 50-50 booking like they do now.

It's like booking Yestlemania or the main event of WrestleMania 35, all you do is go with obvious choice and not complicate things by adding in someone else. And if you do add someone else, at least make it make sense. I wouldn't have minded Asuka being in the main event of WrestleMania 35, so long as it's an elimination match where either a) Asuka eliminates Charlotte Flair to avenge her lostat WrestleMania the previous year or b) Charlotte beats Asuka because Asuka took her SmackDown Women's Championship at WrestleMania 34. Either way Ronda Rousey eliminates them then loses to Becky Lynch.

It should have been Rock vs CM Punk but he was being forced into a rather decent fight with Undertaker but back then we could have gotten possibly Undertaker vs Cena that didn't feel like the final breath of Shovelbearing Corpse Carrier blowing over Fruity Pebbles Incarnate in just 5 minutes. Let this sink in: we could have got The Rock vs CM Punk with Paul Heyman where Punk reclaimed the title, and we could have gotten Undertaker vs John Cena when both were at respectable physical shape in their careers.
Now with that out of the way, I have an idea for another video: 2 years ago Adam and Wrestletalk made the 10 Best Wrestlemanias video and posted it when Mania 36 was coming. Now we could have 10 Worst Manias before Mania 38 on PartsFunKnown. We saw the best ppvs now we may or may not wanna know your take for the worst. I bet Manias 32, 7, 8, 2, and 9 will be on that list.

Every match on this list includes crappy in-ring chemistry. Vince never saw why putting Lesnar vs Goldrerg vs Taker is terrible idea. Roman vs either of those is a crap, unless some character in-ring work could be performed. Ambrose wanted to do that with Lesnar (the only way this match could be good).
