The original mix of this song/album has the drums buried, in contrast to the mixes of the rest of their discography. Here I've produced a version where Jon Theodore's performance is more upfront, clearly audible, and more dynamic.
One of the nastiest most slept in drum tracks..Jon Theodore absolutely killed this track
Absolutely, I’ve never seen anyone, not even Pridgen, come close to getting this down. What a bloody legend!
It's a tragedy that we didn't get to see JT shred more of the Amputechture songs live
it's the fucking writing of the drum parts man he's such a beast in this track. one of the most unique drum parts ever and we never got to saw it live with him so what the fuck. pridgen could've never written a track this good or as in any of the tracks in previous TMV up to this point really, though he's killer and shit don't get me wrong and his style fits Bedlam perfectly but Jon has such a way of enhancing the song dynamics with perfect hits whether it's on the cymbals or anywhere really. He really killed it with the track writing even if Omar might've written a lil bit of that too idk. Plus Pridgen played the tracks from the previous records brilliantly in his own way but they don't compare nor i think they're as good as Jon's playing. Too fucking chaotic at most moments, felt more like random wankery tbh but he slapped in certain parts and he's really fucking good at drumming anyway so good, TMV slaps.
@@f4lc0n15Theodore never wrote the drum parts for the Mars Volta.
@@fugamantew Haha, you believe that? Thomas Pridgen gave a pretty enlightening interview about how much of a hand he had in writing drum parts (almost entirely written by him) that Omar then claimed to have written after the fact. Interviews with Jon Theodore and Cedric also make it pretty clear that Jon had a large input into the songwriting of the first three albums. Make of it what you will, somebody is telling porkies and I don't think it's the three people who I've mentioned.
YES!! It’s beyond me why the drums are not as loud on the original mix being such an important part for the song. Thank You for sharing this!!
I always wanted the drums to be a little more apparent in the mix because this album, to me, has some of the best Jon Theodore drumming in their catalog.
It's a shame he got buried so low in the mix!
Holy shit, i think this will be my favorite way of listening to Tetra, amazing job, Jon is a beast.
Thank you! I just released a mix of Meccamputechture with a similar and higher-quality treatment. Enjoy!
The drums are just insane
No one plays quite like Jon Theodore!
Yes!!! Thanks
Dude, this is fantastic! Can you give the same treatment to Viscera Eyes? The rest of the album? Would love to hear it!
Would love the treatment to more songs from Amputechture! Have been busy recording & mixing 3-4 different projects over the past month, but will definitely get back to these very soon ✌🏼

Here's Viscera Eyes 🤘
He has amazing flow
The kiosk in my temporal lobe is shaped like Rosalynn Carter
RIP
Great fucking work
Late to responding, but I really appreciate it! Hoping to get around to some more from Amputechture in the future!
Nothing but pure fucking pocket.
Omg.. this is amazing. If you could enhance the drums on Cavalettas by TVM that would be my dream come true. The drums on that song are so good, but they’re mixed terribly
In the planning phases right now of some new alternate mixes of some TMV stuff! Have been focused on Amputechture since that generally seems to be the record people have an issue with the drum mix, but Bedlam is my favorite and I would love to give Cavalettas a shot.
Thanks for the suggestion!
