I love the progression of these stories. “A mole and rat make a badger friend during a storm”, “A frog gets into silly hijinks”, “The gang meets G-d”, and then “Adventures are neat”.
the 3D artwork in this is mind blowing??? just perfectly looking like nostalgic stop motion animation, or picture books with dioramas and figure photography illustration in them and the music is so incredibly charming!!! remind me a little of old hungarian stop motion cartoon soundtracks :"")
This sounds like something out of a read-along tape or CD recorded in the 90's. And as an early-2000's baby who was still working with stuff like that through preschool and the better part of elementary, I'm here for it! Same with the little scenes for each chapter looking like something out of an "I Spy" or "Can You See What I See?" book.
Oh those I Spy books where fantastic! In elementary school I’d always be looking through one even when I’d found everything just because I loved the pictures so much! My favourite was in the Schoolhouse book, it was a Rube Goldberg machine set up & I would just stare at it & imagine what it would look like going off.
@@Electrolux219 Yeah, those were awesome. =) There's a video on UA-cam called "How 'I Spy' Books Are Made" by Art Insider, and I thought it was really interesting! Shows off how the photographer gets those pictures done, and gives some solid history for the series (however brief). Highly recommended.
@@XwX1001 I’ve actually seen that video already! it’s so weird to look behind the scenes on those pictures because as a kid I never really conceptualized they existed outside of whatever odd clutter-dimension they looked like they were in. I had this I-Spy PC game where it had a few different stories you’d follow through connecting I-Spy images & the Treasure Hunt one in particular I remember being so engrossing & the sets so well done I genuinely had a hard time believing it was all miniatures & not a real seaside town.
As a French man, I did not grow up with these stories. But for the span of a couple minutes, with the help of your incredible Lookfar songs, I can be transported in that universe and vibe with everyone else. That is talent. Thanks Louie! (And the artworks look fantastic)
Some of this music reminds me of being young and playing Harvest Moon for the SNES & N64 on emulators and being absolutely engrossed in the running of my farm. Fall & winter were especially big moods. The frenzy of getting all your crops harvested and sold or stored before the beginning of winter and then the cozy isolation of the snow outside and the abrupt drop in activity when its just you, your farm animals, and any socializing or foraging you wanted to do outside to make up for all the time you were spending on your crops. The best of times, puts me in the mood for some more Stardew Valley now.
How is Mr. Toad's section the most replayed? That gaslighting amphibian doesn't deserve the recognition, Dolce Domum and The Piper at the Gates of Dawn are where it's at!
The first track reminds me of the theme of the 1995 version of Wind in the Willows. That music brings a kind of innocence and joy I can't find anywhere else. Thanks Louie
Truly the best adaption! No other can compare. That movie was my first real aesthetic experience. I remember being about 4 years old, watching the "Wayfarers All" segment, an inexplicable sense of longing on pain tugging at me, thinking "My heart hurts, and I don't know why."
This feels like a combination of the eighties Moomin’s soundtrack, Pokémon mystery dungeon soundtrack and something of the Smallfilms stop-motion productions.
This is absolutely lovely. 😊 I especially enjoyed “Piper at Dawn.” Like the story it is based on, it hit the same place in my heart where “The Secret Garden” lives. 🌱 Thank You ❤️
I wish I grew up with this book Edit : I just want to let you know that this project inspired me to buy and read the book. I just have to thank you for that, the book was fantastic and an excellent end to my school year :)
MORE LOOKFAR! YES! This and beyond the edge of the world are some of my favorite dungeon synth to date! Great work, I look forward to more in the future!
It really feels like a fairy tale in a field beside a stream!!! I didnt grow up reading the wind in the willows but it has such strong vibes that i can capture the essence and image of it!!
Omg, I can't believe you really made an entire moodboard for one of my all time favorite childhood stories! Thank you so much for making this Monday epic, Louie! 😍💖🥰
I just finished reading the book for the first time so I could enjoy this album all the more! And now I wanna read more animal novels! Watership Down is next...
This contains the whole vibe of 60/70's family movies. You can feel the stopmotion animation, the gentle colors and the subtly mysterious and warm stories.
I have been looping Dulce Domum since release, it's my favorite track! I wish i could listen to an extended version. The progression is so interesting and the pattern halfway through is almost haunting! So good
I grew up falling asleep to the audio book, and re listened to it last year. This is so lovely. I should have a listen to the audio book again sometime. Maybe during winter.
Every now and again I find this album again amongst my favourited UA-cam videos and I enjoy listen it over once more. You did a great job on this one Louis!
You have such good taste! I actually told my Grandma (while very cool and 60s, not an electronic fan) all about you after listening to this this morning bc we always quote the book when Spring starts showing up
I don't know how you do it, Louie. I was listening to this on my morning bus ride and it was perfect. Your music makes me feel like everything will be okay.
This has the most PERFECT 70s folk music/Rankin Bass/BBC television vibe, and you've totally captured the spirit of the Willows perfectly in your style. Amazing. Beautiful. Thank you 🥰
such lovely music. sounds like the little music intros you’d used to get on kid’s audiobooks. i used to fall asleep as a kid listening to audiobooks on a little silver cd player. i feel like i’m six and curled up in bed, watching the cd player glow dimly blue in the dark while a new story starts. i also used to have a little book on peter rabbit with sound effect buttons on the side you could press for every page. these songs sound SO SIMILAR to the buttons somehow, i can’t describe it. esp. the funky synth song. also reminds me of when they’d wheel in the huge TV in kindergarten and you’d watch a chill movie about butterflies or fairytales or music or something with lots of bad cg and pretty animation and kind of surreal. and some version of these, lo-fi piano and synth, would ALWAYS be the backing track. takes me back! this has the perfect vintage sound to, a bit scratchy. how’d he do it??? i feel like a kid again
This unlocked a memory from my childhood. In 2nd grade if we were good during reading time we could sit in the hallway at a table with big clunky cassette players & huge puffy headsets & listen to narrated stories. They would have gentle music like this played with the soothing narration.
I so so so wish there was sheet music for the piano composition of The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn ;o; it's incredibly gorgeous, and for the entire year it's been out, it remains one of my favorite songs of Louie's, and just in general maybe.
My favorite book! I’m delighted to hear your interpretation. Mr. Badger as a character is most special to me. So, I love how there is something so cozy about the clock-like chimes at the end of that piece. You’ve captured the tone so well. But of course, you always make such beautiful, magical things ♡
