i thought the same, suspiciously so. then the next song at 20:21 sounds like the exact riff from Takanaka's Sexy Dance at 1:13 in that video. Very....similar
The way Louie understands the essence of each genre and distills it in compositions with his own signature - that are, also, absolute BOPS - will never not blow my mind.
This would work so well as a video game soundtrack; just play a different one of these tracks depending on where you are/what you're doing in aquarium city, and it would fill everything with so much life. The vibes would be incredible.
i really appreciate that you captured the vibe of the genre and gave it your own spin without it sounding just like a pastiche of one or two big citypop artists' sounds. real funky stuff!
The decision to turn expensive glass high-rises into interconnected fish tank skyscrapers is inspired! my favorite fella is the one all the way on the right, is he a barreleye? the head shape says yes but the dorsal fin looks different :O
This album cover is so stylish and cool. Your creativity continually impresses, Louie! Can't wait to share this with my one friend who is OBSESSED with city pop.
I've been trying all morning to put into words what Aquarium City evokes for me. A city of fish that humans come to see? A city of humans that fish come to see? Both simultaneously? Do the fish have careers snd PTA meetings while also just being regular fish? In any case, it also gives me the whimsy of an experimental Dreamcast-era game... good stuff!
I've listened to this so many times in the two weeks it's been out. Lovely work! I've been following your music for quite some time and a city pop album is right up my alley. You mimicked the sound super well.
Great work on this! KOF always has the greatest drip that is very traditional meets street wear. I really hope the Max Impact characters come back in the 2D games, their designs were top notch, even if their games weren't.
star trek the voyage home soundtrack if they werent cowards and did a couples date to the aquarium + drive through the city on a convertible montage scene between kirk and spock
You know what, that's it, I'm not gonna stop commenting until I get a vinyl record of one of your albums. (Preferably Rat Taxi, but this one is def ON PAR)
Just got to Dolphin Destiny, I screamed out loud when I saw this relatively new release because I haven't been able to go online as often and I'm so glad I caught this, awesome music as always!
4:22 Dolphin Destiny: I knew our love was as deep as the the blue, Barbara, but we were two nautical worlds apart and so with with blubbering sorrow I told her the sad, half ton truth. "We were not meant to be, Barbara Manatee. though our lives must go on, but as I promised to a zong, a long time ago, I will dolphin-ish what I started, serving humanity over manatee. Go now my beloved and seize your own destiny!" - Dolson the Dolphin.
I've been listening to a LOT of Masayuki Suzuki this year and I can't help imagining him singing over this. Some of your most brilliant work yet Louie!!! 🏖🐟🌴
on spotify! this was super fun to make
Amazing work!!!!1!

@@TheShinyShrimp hi
CITY POP AND FISH MY TWO FAVORITE THINGS!!!
Just wait till you hear about popcorn fish :o
@@PyroMoopserWould you rather city flavored pop or fish flavored pop?
ahhh me too!!!
i found my people
SAME
A City Pop album about fishes is just as delightful as a smell of the ocean breeze. Aquarium City (the first song) gives me Caseopia vibes.
It definetly reminds me of "take me"
It reminds me a lot of Masayoshi Takanaka as well. I love jazz fusion
I was going to say the same thing for Caseopia. It's high energy chill.
I remember Aquarium City. $25 dollars entry fee, but it included 2 free (aquatic only) rides and a Aqua-Cola.
You can’t do this to me, I still haven’t stopped listening to Rat Taxi!
greatness overload I understand 💀
Sameeeee
"Don't tap on the glass." THEN WHY IS IT SUCH A BANGER?
Put this on while I rode my motorcycle to the beach. Absolutely lovely.
That's the dream, man.
Man I wish that were me
Reminds me of Masoyoshi Takanaka, very nice. Quite enjoyed mackerel minute
Same, very sunny album ~
i thought the same, suspiciously so. then the next song at 20:21 sounds like the exact riff from Takanaka's Sexy Dance at 1:13 in that video. Very....similar

A CITY POP ALBUM??? we eatin good today
It was 10/10 as usual
Noooo waaaaay. My favorite artist branching out into my favorite genre.
they mix together so well too!
He's done one before too! Breezy Slide, a collab with BDG.
The way Louie understands the essence of each genre and distills it in compositions with his own signature - that are, also, absolute BOPS - will never not blow my mind.
City pop has slowly become one of my favorite genres, it’s like my 2 favorite genres, jazz and rock had an awesome baby
This would work so well as a video game soundtrack; just play a different one of these tracks depending on where you are/what you're doing in aquarium city, and it would fill everything with so much life. The vibes would be incredible.
Masayoshi takanaka vibes, perfect. hope it comes in CD/Vinyl in the future
Perfect soundtrack for working at an oceanographic institute!
I'm trying to catch up on your discography and it's like trying to swim upstream, 10/10 would continuously get swept away by citypop again
A soundtrack like this could save the most God-forsaken Sonic game
the first song / aquarium city is literally SO GOOD!!! perfect summer vibes
absolutely NAILED the city pop sound. straight from japan in the 80s
CALLED IT, he set himself in motion making those 2 sea themed moog synth tracks
Man... I just love Louie Zong,. The art, music, and vibe of this album just entirely slaps.
goddamn i just love city pop Japanese jazz fusion so funkin much
Sir, 3:52 DOLPHIN DESTINY is Threateningly good...
I love how the animated album cover looks how I remember webpages feeling back once upon a time. Excellent job and keep it up!
Gonna listen to this as I do my aquarium water change 🕺 🐟 💃
What type of fishies ya got ?
I'm a simple man, I see sunfish I like
mola mola mola
well marry me then
I can't believe it's called sunfish in English... In Italy it's moon fish (pesce luna). Why is everything so confusing
@@arex7559 They look like the moon sorta, and they float up at the surface of the sea with the sun. They're called Mola Mola because they mola mola.
I love them! The fact that their scientific name (mola mola) translates to ‘millstone millstone’ is so silly!
city pop has always been my "sound of the summer" :)
i really appreciate that you captured the vibe of the genre and gave it your own spin without it sounding just like a pastiche of one or two big citypop artists' sounds. real funky stuff!
I'm fully convinced this year has some of Louie's best releases. I absolutely love the genre choice and how this album flows!!!
Takanaka’s All of Me hit big on UA-cam. We gotta get this one to grow too!
takanaka masayoshi vibe 👀
The chillness of these tunes is off the charts.
Oh heck yeah! Some Zong songs are just what I needed to lift my spirits from this week. Ohh~ and the vibes are immaculate~💗💃🏼
Deep down, I always knew Louie would release the most banger city pop album ever
- 🐟
Man I can't believe how consistenly Louie puts out bangers
The decision to turn expensive glass high-rises into interconnected fish tank skyscrapers is inspired! my favorite fella is the one all the way on the right, is he a barreleye? the head shape says yes but the dorsal fin looks different :O
This is a prime example of why I instantly click on any new albums from you! You are legit one of my favorite artists right now. Keep it up!!✨
This album cover is so stylish and cool. Your creativity continually impresses, Louie! Can't wait to share this with my one friend who is OBSESSED with city pop.
the variation on the breezy slide intro lick around 1:06 is crazy good
I was not expecting to see a Louie Zong city pop album but I'm so here for it!
Oh man, I love your music and I LOVE city pop. This caught my ears and my heart; hook, line, and sinker.
Eel Express gives me Custom Robo funky vibes. I love it.
I discovered you through RAT TAXI, but i love your style.

Now this is a “Hey, come on, MOVE!” playlist
Only I don’t want this to stop ever, it’s just so good
Pretty Takanaka, loved it!

This is one of Mustard's favorite releases of the year. They thank you for making this.
Louie Zong putting out another banger!
You really captured the genre well, but it still has that Louie Zong flair that we all know and love
Donny Benet Vibes on the seventh ❤️
