@@MagicWeddingPhotographer For me, that would be the main selling point that would make me upgrade from my A7 IVs. At this point, the new screen mechanism and AI autofocus are a given, it may be worth it to upgrade just for these features, all it comes down to is the price.
im totally with magic....the A1ii is still stacked as Flag ship...they can not give the A7 V also a Stacked Sensor for ⅓ of the Price. The A7 Series will get the stacked sensor when A1iii get a global shutter imo
That auto-depth aperture setting would be amazing. They won’t do it, but if they added the 9.44m dot EVF and the 5-axis screen to the A7V it’d be incredible. The tiny EVF is the saddest little thing on the A7IV
you don't love their 2003 olympus is-500 style viewfinder? LOL It looks identical honestly. When I looked through the a7CR (which I own and love) I was like hot damn its 2003!!! The EVF is honestly 100% for just checking the exposure you can't really gage what the photos is gonna look like.
Maybe you should try the Nikon Z8 or Z9. No mechanical shutter at all. I think they focus pretty well too. (I’m a Fuji shooter, I just know about them.)
0:48 "the low light performance gets a hit" Meanwhile, other reviewers demonstrated the A7RV has excellent low light performance, even better than A7SIII. Something doesn't add up... I think you're mistaken and you're just repeating the false myth that more megapixels equals worse low light performance. I'm happy to be proven wrong, but AFAIK the A7RV will give you more detail at low light than the A7SIII. 2:01 Why is 50MP too much? You can just use RAW M, giving you ~21MP photos.
Im over here using the z8 and z63...loving it for weddings, superb colour and glass, silent operation, ridiculous raw video... i do miss Sonys smaller glass sometimes (Was on Sony 4 years an a7s3 and a74)... but then the 85 1.2 delivers images ive never seen before and im just happy... :)
Oh i forgot about Sonys screens already... but Man, it DOES matter, to see the images you just shot on a beautiful screen in glorious image quality and colour right away... its just very motivating tbh... i feel Fuji does this best, but Nikon is also a joy to use... baffling that Sony (with all their smartphone knowledge) cant do this...
When I got the A7IV, I was shocked at how loud the shutter was, especially since I had been used to Fuji for years. Even the Canon R6II is so quiet in comparison that the A7IV in burst mode almost sounds like someone clapping. Having an electronic shutter with decent rolling shutter performance, even if it comes at the cost of, say, less bit depth, would also be my preference over not being able to use it at all. Theoretically, something like that could even be patched in, if they wanted to. Wink wink, Sony. Just like with the Canon R6. I’ve also wished for the dual face recognition mode with automatic aperture selection. Ideally, you could even define specific people to be tracked primarily, like the bride and groom, just like you can with Canon R5II. I bet that you could patch this in with current models. What is also missing LUT support like Lumix S5II. And the most important things of all for me is a german repair service that doesn`t suck. :D Its the worst service of all camera brand here in germany. (google reviews). I got scammed by them. so yeah.
Do you regret leaving Fuji at all? I saw your video about AF and bride/groom party walking down the aisle. I am 100% with you in that Z axis AF.C for Fuji SUCKS. But... this is only a brief moment in the day, would it not have been viable to simple get a cheap Sony APS-C camera+lens just for this part of the day? And then back to Fuji for the rest? I'm trying to consider myself a tradesmen of sort and not necessarily swap entire systems when one camera is letting me down in a specific way. Sony have AF for sure, but I'm sure I would be disappointed in other ways (be it simply price).
I absolutely love the loud shutter. But that's just me. It feels like you're taking a photo. I also went to a camera store this past weekend and held the Z6III for the first time. It also had a loud shutter.
@@Renenko I absolutely understand what you mean. A camera is also much more satisfying for me if it has a good shutter. I had a Leica M11 for a year, and Leica somehow manages to build a very quiet shutter that is even more satisfying than the one on an A7IV. By the way, the same applies to the SL2 and SL3.
@@SummersSnaps I don’t regret switching systems. Maybe I regret a little not going to Canon, but then I wouldn’t have the fantastic Sigma lenses. Now I just have to bite the bullet and stick with Sony since I’ve already invested way too much in E-mount lenses. However, I’d still switch from APS-C to full-frame anytime because you really do notice the difference with less noise. I shoot way too many weddings in rooms that are way too dark. :D
This video covers so many points as a wedding photographer that I would really like to see happen. I love the idea of the square sensor though! I definitely don't need to be buying more gear haha
Majority of people don’t know this but the Sony RV’s lossless compressed modes are one of the it’s biggest features. Lossless compressed L will give you 61mpx. Lossless compressed M it’s a 24mpx still full frame, downsampled from 61mpx and it is fantastic. Better in low light and it’s actually more detailed than the 33mpx file in the A74. Also it’s about 50mb. For weddings I use lossless L for church , couples portraits and first dance, party time at 24mpx which is still overkill in size (you can print absurdly large with 24mpx) there’s also Lossless S which is full frame 15mpx (could see myself using this in a hurry if I don’t have enough space) It’s an extremely versatile body. Slow in fps, (although I shoot at 5fps-ish with all my bodies) and Silent shutter is useless, maybe next gen Sony RVi comes with a stacked sensor? Love the content, just wanted to make sure people see this.
mRAW and sRAW files aren't actually raw, so they're not compatible with Adobe AI Denoise or DxO's DeepPRIME noise reduction. As I regularly shoot ISO 6400-25,600, that's a problem and the reason why I never use these file formats on my a7RV. If I'm using a zoom, I try to use Crop Mode to keep file sizes down.
@@rlclark50 Lossless Compressed LARGE works, because it's true raw. mRAW and sRAW don't, unless Adobe has changed this since I last tested it. Can you confirm?
Wedding photographers will also think about hybrid: - 4k60 with no crop - Easy switch to Move-Mode with 180° shutter angle - Build-in automatic variable-ND 😲
@ from my experience though my A7r3 files have better dynamic range so I could really fuck up and still fix stuff. That and I’m too invested in Sony glass now. No going back.
Sony a1 is the best camera for weddings. I shoot on it totally silent throughout the whole day (including receptions) the limitation of flash 1/200 does not bother or impede with what I create. The a1 II sounds amazing, but I won't be upgrading. The only con's the a1 has it chews through batteries especially if you have the higher frame rate through the viewfinder. Secondly it's easy if shooting on 50mp mode to go through cards easily especially at weddings. I machine gun my shutter especially in certain moments, but I guess that's my fault more than the camera's. The a7iv is a great camera, but it's not built as tough as the a1 in terms of material.
A 35mp Sensor is perfect for weddings! About to jump to the a7iv (I don't like the fully-articulated screen for photo) buuuuut I'll be waiting for the a7v (hoping to have the screen of the a9iii/a7rV.. Thanks for this Magic!
I'm a sony user, but I like how Canon solved the autofocus. When there are more people in the frame and the camera registers them, it would be great to be able to switch which people the camera focuses on. That's how Canon has it. The figure in the center is sharp for me (I can see by the eye frame), but I would switch to next person with a button. This could be an alternative solution, for example, to the auto aputura......or?
Great video!!! You totally nailed it. As a Sony A7R V user, your recommendations are spot on! Especially the multi-face AI recognition algorithm with auto aperture + range. Also, a better quality screen would be a nice improvement indeed (as specialists in smartphones and TV, Sony should be able to bring this to us easily)
Out of all the things you said, a square sensor camera would be a game changer, especially for video. Action cameras already do this. This could revolutionize how we take photos. I didn't know I wanted this before today.
The A7V would be the perfect wedding body if they keep it at 33mp but add some level of stacked sensor; not necessary as fast readout as the A1, but maybe something like the original A9 readout. Then just put it in the new body design with ai and we’re good
Agree, we need Sony cameras that have better post workflows and updated tech e.g. - internal ssd storage 1-4 TB - Internal 5G module for direct to cloud uploads - custom presets - capture on record (ability to take photos while shooting video) - better batteries... we've been using the same battery since 2017 - NTP implementation to accurately sync camera time with location - User profiles - HOTSHOE design change (other brands have more robust hotshoe designs) - Custom shutter sound - Anti theft feature - lock camera if lost or stolen (similar to a lost phone)
You missed the point. Yes, it's a good camera and still a perfectly valid option for most photographers, however, this talk was about the perfect wedding photography camera, which it certainly isn't.
@@JosefFoti wedding photography has been around since film cameras that didnt have any advanced technology and still had perfect shots because, wait for it, skills and lenses. nobody "needs" a perfect wedding photography camera.
Nobody needs anything, but it's still fun to have. And why can't things get easier? Wouldn't it be great if the barrier to entry was lowered so more people can get into it as a hobby?
@Saber_Nico Think before writing. Technology trickles down over time. But it won't, if it isn't invented in the first place. Try and have a more positive outlook on things, it will make your life better. 👍
We need a 24 MPix full frame stacked sensor with a good eye detection auto focus. Sony A9 version 1 (about 1500 € new) is more than enough for any wedding. So you can buy two ones : - one with a zoom Sigma 24-70 F/2.8 Art II or the very light zoom Sony 24/50 F/2.8 G and because I've never seen any zoom suitable for portraits - one with a prime lense 85 mm F/1.4
I shoot with A7RIV's and I honestly love them. The main reason I love the 61MP sensor is because I can go to crop mode and still have 26.2MP.. But yes some multi face recognition would be an absolute game changer
Regarding the multi face auto focus, Canon has a feature where you can register I think up to 10 faces and set a priority, it basically will detect and prioritise the registered faces as you shoot. I think that will be REALLY useful.
Yes. longtime A7r2 - r3 shooter, I waited and hoped and waitef for the A9 stacked 33mp. When it came out, out of despair, I pulled the updating trigger for the A7RV. Why? For the vertical flippscreen, convincing AF, and because the A1....did not have preshooting and that vertical flipscreen : "so, therefore" (!) remained too expensive. However indeed: the A7rv without stacked sensor tech, for those so many lowlight sectors, for us pro users, that is just unbearably crippeling and painful. Will it be A7V to fill a pro-gap ? A1m2 remains too expensive, but I clearly feel I have no choice left to not miss shots I know are avoidable! Also too expensive when one "knows" Sony will not care one bit to keep us happy with inventive firmware updates - not even with logic ones : Unconditional 1/400 (hardware?) to be possible with any studio flash, Antiflicker maintained in preshooting mode especially when 10 shots for 1sec would be plenty enough. Batterie cradles are utter nonsens. Batteries can have those direct USB-C input and with communication protocols now so common in 'any' todays powerfull smart chargers. Batteries with load status leds , or at least a plastic 4 position click slider or dial to manually memorize the level of charge to end confusions and strategies... More C-buttons ! So many empty spaces waistet. Big square sensor I call for since years ! Even round! with auto leveling as option. No need to turn camera by 90 degrees either, (L-brackets and consorts, grips, reducing tripod manipulations, build-in shift-modes, anty-theft modes (!) GPS, Camera-sync and configurations to fine tune made on PC (to share..) and so many "funny" stuf possible. Instead, only booring standards. GM 28mm and 75mm both at f1.2 or f1.4 - would be amazing and obvious status benefit for Sony, at minimum. Sure: I sacrificed much at Canon just for the electronic viewfinder I knew by Sony was genius and essential to me. Yes they are innovating, but hopelessly conventional and depressing in matters of listening and caring to clients. Sure I loved theyr open system (appealing to Voightlander and other lenses) quality push for better and ligher handling of GM lenses. The 27-70 ("why not" 75???) is however not overkill and feels so bang on logic business-power strategy. Madening.
The only thing I don't really agree with is square sensor being the future. I haven't had a chance to try the Apple Vision Pro yet but I believe that VR is gonna bring us back to horizontal image just for the simple fact that our eyes are next to each other. But maybe that's just me and my lack of familiarity with how the VR works 😄
Resolution: 24-30 MP. Compressed RAW files under 15 MB. Burst speed: 15-30 fps. Automatic aperture adjustment for group photos within limits. Custom presets for color profiles in photo previews. Tilting screen upwards or hybrid design (like in the A1). Larger grip for bigger hands. Anti-Flicker protection in silent mode
I agree with ALL of your ideas, please make it happen Sony but maybe intsead of customizable style presets they could implement LUT support for photos (like how Panasonic did it). My three other important wishes are: waveform for video, open gate video and shutter angle all in an A7 level camera and every camera above (so from the next A7V - which should definitely have a stacked senser by the way 😉)
I don't know, I guess Sony a9 mark 2 is perfect wedding camear in 2025. It is cheap, has all the photo features: super autofocus, silent shutter, great iso, etc. Lacks 4k60, but it os ok for me to shoot in Full HD, I am a photographer, not a videographer. I have it for several years now and I don't have any reasons to change it:)
@ global shutter is fantastic in Church. 120fps and black-out free is overkill for wedding. i am a beginning wedding photographer and 5k is too much for me. Right now i shot with A7C and A7IV, and i dream to replace my A7C with a global shutter, especially to sneak more during church.
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer To my knowledge (someone correct me if I'm wrong), having a stacked sensor is what allows the a9iii to have a global shutter. I think you're both saying the same thing, just in two different ways. The camera is able to have a global shutter because it has a stacked sensor, and the global shutter is what prevents the banding when using silent shutter. If you want no banding, I think you have to have a global shutter. EDIT: I did some more research. I got it half right. A stacked sensor is required for global shutter, but just because you have a stacked sensor doesn't mean you have a global shutter.
Solution for these shills is a Nikon, get this, F2AS. A still camera with a noisy mirror and motor drive. These guys are asking for something that will exist in about 5 years. I am so sick of these guys. It's like they don't know how to use any camera. This guy is another content maker I am unsubscribing from. I'm ditching about 80% of these knuckleheads. It's not the camera, it's the individual. I bet there are hundreds of wedding photographers who are not bitching, yet getting the job done with any brand including those huge 6x6 or 6x7 camera.
I AGREE - 100% ON EVERYTHING mentioned. Please bring back the Double/Muti-Exposure feature. That is such an easy firmware tweak. With just software, Sony has the power to easily pull even larger chunks of Fuji, Lumix, Nikon, and Canon Shooters. The only reason I consider any of the other brands is 90% because of software features.
I think burst over about ~15 fps is a bit overkill. I guess it depends on your style, but if you can't nail a close-to-perfect moment shot with 15 fps you won't get it with 30 either. Moments happen fast in weddings, sure, but not at the same rate as it does in extreme sports or wildlife. People don't generally move that fast at a wedding. Internal storage is for me personally not at all useful. I shoot dual 256GB cards in both my a7 IVs and they get at most 80% full at a hectic 12 hour wedding, and then I'm usually taking a lot of burst shots on the dance floor. Maybe I don't get it, but internal storage just wouldn't do much for me. 4K60 with no crop is definitely a must, and so is a sensor around 32-42Mpix. I used to shoot a lot with a7r IIIs and the 42 Mpix from that camera felt like a good size and allowed for some decently aggressive crops. I want the fully articulating screen so bad I might just bite the bullet and get an a1 II if the a7 V doesn't get it. The flippy screen on the a7 IV is horrible and I really miss the tilting screen on my a7r IIIs. I think the button layout on the a7 IV is sufficient, but PLEASE but physical toggle locks on all the dials. Whatever camera that is on my hip (not in use) constantly gets settings changed and it's really annoying. I would move/swap the video record button with C1 for better ergonomics during video use. And another C-button on the front next to the grip to toggle between low and high burst would be nice but not a necessity. Really doubt the a7 V will be more than a a7 IV refresh; use the same sensor and body with a few internal updates and added AI features. A bit like the a1 -> a1 II. I really, really hope I'm wrong though and we get a new semi-stacked sensor around ~38 Mpix, the articulating screen and an improved body with an extra button and better ergonomics. And please Sony, make the official battery grip fit better with the body of the camera. There is a huge difference between the grip on my old a7r III and my new a7 IVs.
Out of all the things the last bit about the square sensor seems like the best thing. You seem like a guy who really gets into the details with these cameras. Like, I guess I just have to say mad props to you! I really like understanding more that you are critical about the depth of field for groups. I myself often forget that I'm f 2.8 and then a group photo there's a lot of people who are not in focus. But then again I'm a small event photographer. And there's not that much Hi-Tech features that would bringing more "keepers" Like my dream right now is to get a Nikon d3..... Haha 😅
wouldn't a A9 or A9ii do the job at an affordable price? As much as I'd love a global shutter (and it's certainly the future) the drawbacks of base ISO250, lower DR, worse noise and crazy price are very off putting
I think a A7Siv with a 24Mp stacked sensor would be the ultimate hybrid for both photo and video. Especially if the sensor is designed with a 4 stop second base iso like the a7siii has for ultimate low light high iso. Basically an A9ii with all the new Sony AI, body, screen, menus, 4k120 and 6k60 video with open gate and 20-30 fps photo. I think this will be the ultimate hybrid, sell it for $3900-$4000 USD and you got a best seller for 2025-2028. The A7V is in the cheaper entry level body that always leave something missing to move up. And yes the auto aperture would be awesome, especially when using GM primes
Hej Magic, this might be the best video you've ever uploaded here. Agree in every single aspect. Still using my three old A9 because none of the later cameras offered everything I actually want (hybrid, low base ISO, silent shutter, megapixel sweet spot, price of € 5000,- max., acceptable screen). I would instantly buy three new ones, but there unfortunately is no camera which serves all my needs.
Realy like the Idea of square-sensor-format to use the whole field of a prime and to decide later to change to a certain format (like 3:4, 2:3 or 16:9...)!
24MP stacked sensor, AI, good IBIS, the rest of features are flexible to make price reasonable. Aperture bracketing would be great to get different depth of field at a single exposure. Also an option to automatically choose the correct aperture for a group shot.
When a Sony camera is switched to human detection mode, I'd like a mode where the whole top half of the image (or top 1/3 if necessary) to be used for eye-detection and tracking. AND when the camera is turned to vertical, I'd like the same thing to apply, automatically regardless of which end is up. I need this for concert and nightclub photography, (they can call it Peformance Mode) and I imagine wedding photographers would take advantage of it in various situations (reception dancing, for example).
If you can't take any of the full frame cameras from Sony in the last 5 years and do great wedding images then I think you need more training. We are the weak link not the cameras.
@ haha indeed. I hate it when UA-camrs produce crappy videos to gain attention. They don’t talk sense. I didn’t watch beyond 20 seconds. I didn’t want to contribute to his watch time and help him. I use a Canon 5D Mark II in 2010 and I could take many beautiful wedding shots.
Canon lets you make presets on the computer and then load them into the camera to make jpgs with (a lot like fuji, and i believe nikon and panasonic ate starting to do this too). Its a nice feature Ive wanted square (or round) sensors for quite awhile. The lens (image) is round, the mount is round, it makes sense. You wouldn’t need to rotate the camera ever again. you choose in post hot to orient the final image.
Even I do no weddings, I agree with you, that we should have a mix of A74 (Sensorsize 33MP, 50would be great), A9III (Screen and global shutter) and A1II (30fps) or at least 20fps. I own the A74 but since I have also the A7R5 I always use the 61MP and do the most pictures with the 50mm f1.2. When the A1II was introduced, I was a bit disappointed and decided to wait for the A1III or probably a A7V. In the meantime I invest in becoming a better photographer… 😄😉
im a sports photographer, and we share the same thoughts about the a9iii: what we wanted was a higher rez a9ii. What they gave is is al all new model, effectively killing what the a9 was all about.
where can i preorder that camera you are talking about? 30 ish mp, new ai af, stacked sensor for bending free silent shooting with a nice and fully articulating screen would be amazing
I've been saying this for years. But not only as a wedding photography camera but as a good hybrid camera since most of the people need somekind of video too. Sony started acting like a Canon by releasing 100 different segment cameras. It is so frustrating that with so much tech and innovation Sony still did not have release hybrid camera in middle segment that has 4k50/60 FPS without Crop. And you are 100% percent about the earnings from jobs and prices of the camera compared to US. Here in Croatia, you would have to work 10 wedding to pay of something like A9III. For A1 II you would have to win the lottery. For me the most important things would be : 1. 50FPS in 4K without any crop 2. Good OLED screen....it is mind blowing to me that sony who has some of the best TV panels have such a crap screen on the cameras ( even on A1II and A9III )....like they have old cheap batch of screens from 2010. they need to get rid off 3.30-34 Mpix Stacked Sensonr ( even if ti brings up the price more ) 4. Firmware updates - it feels like 2 programers in the basement would make better and more consistent firmware updates. Not to mention that they basically left the cameras like A7SIII and A1. 5. Bluetooth support for Mics like DJI Mic 2 or Mic mini 6. Luts implementation and better software for exporting and connecting to mobile phones.
Hey Magic, I can't agree more with you, about everything you pointed here. I'll give a plus to the "app" thing, definitely ! Fact that we can't make double or multiple exposure directly, like in almost every camera does (ricoh, fuji, nikon, etc.) is something that is really annoying, especially when we had it 10 years ago in Sony A7 and A7II...
You don’t have to shoot at 120 fps on the A9III. Also A7RV, yes has 61MP but you have the option to scale down the files. Also I use it for concerts and I have no issues with low light unless you’re talking about shooting in NO light.
I’ve got the A9 Mark III, and while it’s an incredible piece of tech, some of the features feel like overkill for my needs as a wedding photographer. My trusty A9 Mark II still reigns as my main workhorse. Honestly, all Sony needed to do was improve the viewfinder and screen-those are the real game-changers. The 20 frames per second on the electronic shutter is already more than enough for capturing the action. If they’d simply combined that with the A9 III’s robust body design and perhaps thrown in the AI features from the A7R V, it would have been a dream setup! I’m content shooting at 24 megapixels, but a jump to 30 would certainly be a welcome bonus. It’s about refinement, not excess, and I feel like that sweet spot was just missed. I agree with the video features that people have mentioned, a9 mark 2 video features are rubbish!! I love your ideas of the auto focus for 2 people in the frame!! that would be epic!!
Great video, I agree they need a pro model for the a7 line. Better body design, the a9iii is spot on. 30mp is fine Dual iso would be ideal 100 and 3200 for photos. And a better evf and screen is a must canon can do it so can’t be that hard. As for the rest all the current Sony’s already do more than is needed for most photography jobs by this point.
Yes to all your suggestions although the aesthetics are less important to me. Definitely like the idea of loading Lightroom presets into the camera. That would be v cool.
Ok I thought of one... I want to be able to hold a button and trigger my flash no matter what my current settings are at a set iso / aperture / shutter speed... like a custom hold function. It's surely just a firmware thing. For some reason you can't turn the flash off in PSAM from what I can see in the menu.... Use Case - I am shooting natural light in AV but I want a flash shot of the same thing... Currently, I have to either switch from AV to Manual, then turn on my flash or trigger... Moment's gone... if I could just hold a button - the flash could always be on (just not triggered if we could turn the shoe off in a C1-C3 with AV etc.... I hold down my custom button and fire a shot which has ISO 100 1/250 / F7.1 for example and just fires off.... I release and we go back to shooting natural light. Literally takes less than 1/2 a second.... During confetti I'd like to do both but could take too long to swap modes as the couple walks towards me... Currently I need 2 bodies really for that, and even that is slower...
The A7IV is great, when the shutter isn’t broken. Just broke one at a wedding over the weekend, less than 6 months old at 95k clicks My god fix that shutter and the sound lol
We need definitely in camera lightroom presets or at least make in camera styles that you can create on a desktop editing software. And if it is only a lut. So that we can give out photos already on the wedding day. Maybe with in camera editing and then send them directly onto a pocket printer so that they can have a sneak peak on the same day. And wow that idea with the multi face autifocus is absolutely genius!!!! And yes we need a new display.
Canon lets you make presets on the computer and then load them into the camera to make jpgs with (a lot like fuji, and i believe nikon and panasonic ate starting to do this too). Its a nice feature
Would be amazing to expose after taking the picture, like when you review the photo, make It some exposure up or down, with this can be very easy after post processing!
The face detection AF or multiple zone AF will be amazing. I remember back in the film days Canon had the DEP mode with EOS 630 (yes over 30 years ago) and that was the feature that made buy that camera years later when I was able to afford a used one. Incredible that none of the cameras have similar feature even today. I’m also bummed that silent mode is kind of useless indoors in the a7iv. I would also like 8 stop IBIS
Totally agree. The least we need is an A9 iv with 35 mp. But everything else, especially the Auto-DOF with mulitple facerecognition would be very nice too.
Dear Sony, please take notes from the Nikon Z8 (45MP, stacked sensor, good grip, 20FPS) and price it competitively. On a serious note, I shoot with both Sony and Nikon. Using the Megadap adapter, all of my GM lenses work natively and perform exceptionally well. I have the best of both worlds!
I agree to all of your ideas, especially the one with auto depth of field which I have had about 10 years ago in a camera, where you have first set the closest point and then the farthest point which should be in focus.
Event photographers have very similar needs to wedding photographers. 33mp stacked sensor, 30fps (I don't need it but the competition R5II R6II and Z6III Z8 have at least that) Rear screen from A9III (I hate flip out screen) Ai AF and the new improved IBIS. Would love buttons that light up like Nikon. Square sensor would make the camera £££££ . Do Sony make Nikons Z6III sensor, if so is semi stack what's coming next?
I think it's impossible to keep up with all the features we want. Three months ago, I switched from Sony A7-4 to Sony A1. And I think this camera is more than enough for a photographer. The exception is the screen. It lags behind other manufacturers in terms of quality. Otherwise, this camera is just a great tool for any purpose. Thanks for your video.
I hope the A7 V will have a partial stacked sensor to compete with the Nikon Z6 III. I think it would be interesting if there was a LiDAR sensor to help with nighttime autofocus
The other thing i wandered why it doesn't exist is a limit on auto shutter speed as well as auto iso. We can set aperture priority and auto iso but can't limit our shutter speed to minimum of say 200 so we still always have to watch it to make sure it doesn't drop too much. I have no idea why this isn't a thing
Not a pro but upgrading from A9mk1 seems like a waste of money. If money was no issue it might be a different but the way it is there is no reasonable upgrade that has a usable silent shutter and does not cost an arm and a leg. Global shutter is overkill for me and 50mp are way way more then i need. 30mp are like the max that i ever needed and i honestly wouldnt mind 24mp at all. On the other hand there isnt much that i miss right now on the A9 but i wouldnt mind something newer as a replacement for my A7iii. I can wait for the A7V... and get me another A9 out of disapointment then😅 but the way mine acts these days i dont feel to well throwing 1000+ € at a 8 year old camera that is specwise really all i could ask for.
All sounds great, really love the square sensor idea though. That would be fantastic. And after reading other comments, HE NEVER SAID SONY’S CURRENT CAMERAS DON’T WORK FOR WEDDINGS!
make a z9 type camera for weddings...just a little smaller 30 mp max! feature to upload luts and embed if i choose in jpegs! 12 is enough for that, 20 fps would be enough, precapture 2 seconds! and focus staking on the go in images if multiple people in the shot!!! that is much better to have everyone sharp in the shot, and let say will take 6 or 8 images and combine them in one...the price 4500 euros maximum
A7V waiting room...
@@Megzu1 sadly I just don’t think Sony will put stacked sensor in A7 basic line… :/
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer For me, that would be the main selling point that would make me upgrade from my A7 IVs. At this point, the new screen mechanism and AI autofocus are a given, it may be worth it to upgrade just for these features, all it comes down to is the price.
@@MagicWeddingPhotographerthey could probably release something similar to the Nikon Z6III with a partial stacked sensor?
@@MagicWeddingPhotographerbut we can hope right? Please Sony!!!!
im totally with magic....the A1ii is still stacked as Flag ship...they can not give the A7 V also a Stacked Sensor for ⅓ of the Price.
Absolutely. I think you nailed the specs. 35MP. FF. 4k60p uncropped. Stacked sensor. A9iii body. Quick switching between photo & video for hybrid
Hi yes please
Magic, I love all these ideas!
Sony a7 V should be it right? Same 33mp but make it stacked and faster with uncropped 4k50 and useable rolling shutter
4K50 or 4K60 for NTSB markets
This video covers so many points as a wedding photographer that I would really like to see happen. I love the idea of the square sensor though! I definitely don't need to be buying more gear haha
I use two Sony A7 IVs for weddings. I'm very happy with them. 🙂
For weddings I use lossless L for church , couples portraits and first dance, party time at 24mpx which is still overkill in size (you can print absurdly large with 24mpx) there’s also Lossless S which is full frame 15mpx (could see myself using this in a hurry if I don’t have enough space)
It’s an extremely versatile body.
@@HappeningPhotos I shoot on the a7Rv, a7CR, and a7iv and all 3 have usable lossless arw files that work fine with AI de-noise.
@@HappeningPhotosyeah I also had this issue, used lossless small and the image was nosier at iso 3200 than compressed and I couldn’t use a de noise
@@rlclark50 Lossless Compressed LARGE works, because it's true raw. mRAW and sRAW don't, unless Adobe has changed this since I last tested it. Can you confirm?
Wedding photographers will also think about hybrid:
- 4k60 with no crop
- Easy switch to Move-Mode with 180° shutter angle
- Build-in automatic variable-ND 😲
+1 for built-in eND
Bro, A74 is not loud, remember the DSLR if you had one...
It is louder than other Sony cameras.
surely when wedding become top demand spec camera work, they will make one for it.
I use a Sony A7IV, but I absolutely agree with you!
I really wish that Sony kept developing the 42mp sensor in the A7R3. I think it hit a really good balance on low light and megapixels.
Love the A7R3
I bought it at first hated it but just when i gave it time an happy 😊@@ArleneVideos
canon did :) r5, r5 ii :)
@ from my experience though my A7r3 files have better dynamic range so I could really fuck up and still fix stuff. That and I’m too invested in Sony glass now. No going back.
I loved my A7RIII much more then my A7RV. 42MP was great!!!!
That's a must and they are probably aware of it
I'm a sony user, but I like how Canon solved the autofocus.
- internal ssd storage 1-4 TB
- Internal 5G module for direct to cloud uploads
- custom presets
- capture on record (ability to take photos while shooting video)
- better batteries... we've been using the same battery since 2017
- NTP implementation to accurately sync camera time with location
- User profiles
- HOTSHOE design change (other brands have more robust hotshoe designs)
- Custom shutter sound
- Anti theft feature - lock camera if lost or stolen (similar to a lost phone)
Great ideas, internal storage and 5g connectivity seems manageable to implement.
That won't happen until DJI acquires a Japanese camera company.
These are probably some of the best ideas! Specially the 5g built in, better, more robust hotshoe & the anti theft feature! 👌
I still use Sony a7iii for wedding n portrait....its still good...no problem...
@@hiawrj yes, give us $2000 camera body and lenses. that'll definitely lower the entry for people to get into an "inexpensive" hobby.
So you can buy two ones :
- one with a zoom Sigma 24-70 F/2.8 Art II or the very light zoom Sony 24/50 F/2.8 G
and because I've never seen any zoom suitable for portraits
- one with a prime lense 85 mm F/1.4
I shoot with A7RIV's and I honestly love them. The main reason I love the 61MP sensor is because I can go to crop mode and still have 26.2MP.. But yes some multi face recognition would be an absolute game changer
I 100 percent agree with him. They have cameras for sports and nature, but one geared more toward wedding /event photographers would be amazing.
The automatic depth aperture setting would be very beneficial.
We need a7V with global shutter, that would make a banger for wedding …
But that’s almost exactly a9iii…? I feel like global shutter is overkill, stacked sensor would be enough!
Solution: get the Nikon Z8
Solution for these shills is a Nikon, get this, F2AS. A still camera with a noisy mirror and motor drive. These guys are asking for something that will exist in about 5 years. I am so sick of these guys. It's like they don't know how to use any camera. This guy is another content maker I am unsubscribing from. I'm ditching about 80% of these knuckleheads. It's not the camera, it's the individual. I bet there are hundreds of wedding photographers who are not bitching, yet getting the job done with any brand including those huge 6x6 or 6x7 camera.
@@bondgabebond4907
I AGREE - 100% ON EVERYTHING mentioned.
Please bring back the Double/Muti-Exposure feature. That is such an easy firmware tweak. With just software, Sony has the power to easily pull even larger chunks of Fuji, Lumix, Nikon, and Canon Shooters. The only reason I consider any of the other brands is 90% because of software features.
I like the idea of a square format, as well as a 30mp camera with silent shutter.
Yea, Square sensor should work with current lenses as well, since they are round and not oval, covering the long side of the full frame sensor.
You can choose Medium Raw (21megapixels) option in the new A1 II if you don't need the full 50megapixels.
@@ck81818 … it‘s a to expensive camera for his wedding work. 🤷🏼♂️
That’s not the point. It’s the combination of features.
4. Image Styles... just allow LUTs like Lumix does. Thats why i shoot lumix s5IIx... perfect colours OOC
And there's not that much Hi-Tech features that would bringing more "keepers"
Like my dream right now is to get a Nikon d3..... Haha 😅
wouldn't a A9 or A9ii do the job at an affordable price?
As much as I'd love a global shutter (and it's certainly the future) the drawbacks of base ISO250, lower DR, worse noise and crazy price are very off putting
The A1 is nearly perfect. Silent, resolution, AF, and 1/400 flash sync. A set of used A9s are awesome and affordable too.
This video blew up! Great work! Beautiful studio and footage.
A1 is the best...
So you need something like the Nikon Z6III. Just buy one and the Megadap adapter to use your Sony lenses on the Nikon.
This silly video is a click bait.
Yeah, this internationally acclaimed wedding photographer and Sony ambassador doesn’t know how to take great images… /sarcasm
True, but we need to force them to innovate because they got lazy recently and playing it too safe..
Congrats, you missed the point.
All I need is Nikon Z6 III made by Sony. They can name it as A7 V :)
Im sorry to bring the trouth
Its because you guys aren't important enough ahaha
owch... im sorry mate i couldn't resist.
where can i preorder that camera you are talking about?
For me the most important things would be :
1. 50FPS in 4K without any crop
2. Good OLED screen....it is mind blowing to me that sony who has some of the best TV panels have such a crap screen on the cameras ( even on A1II and A9III )....like they have old cheap batch of screens from 2010. they need to get rid off
3.30-34 Mpix Stacked Sensonr ( even if ti brings up the price more )
4. Firmware updates - it feels like 2 programers in the basement would make better and more consistent firmware updates. Not to mention that they basically left the cameras like A7SIII and A1.
5. Bluetooth support for Mics like DJI Mic 2 or Mic mini
30mp is fine
Dual iso would be ideal 100 and 3200 for photos.
And a better evf and screen is a must canon can do it so can’t be that hard.
As for the rest all the current Sony’s already do more than is needed for most photography jobs by this point.
Basically more pro features but A7 price.
Yes to all your suggestions although the aesthetics are less important to me. Definitely like the idea of loading Lightroom presets into the camera. That would be v cool.
stacked sensor 24mp that support max 1/250 flash, faster readout , e-shutter less artifact/less rolling shutter done
I just bought a Sony A9 for $850.... what's stopping you?
Just broke one at a wedding over the weekend, less than 6 months old at 95k clicks
My god fix that shutter and the sound lol
We need definitely in camera lightroom presets or at least make in camera styles that you can create on a desktop editing software. And if it is only a lut. So that we can give out photos already on the wedding day. Maybe with in camera editing and then send them directly onto a pocket printer so that they can have a sneak peak on the same day.
And wow that idea with the multi face autifocus is absolutely genius!!!!
And yes we need a new display.
A7III is a perfect wedding photo camera imo.
Word
I’m not a wedding photographer but agree with everything you say.
Like the the idea you gave on Auto Depth of Field with multiple people!!!!
I would like anything that magic is suggesting I love watching his videos and what a great photographer
love your idea, really to see that on the A7V
Thanks for your video.
auto creating GIF/video from bursts especially from the a9iii would be freaking awesome!
I hope the A7 V will have a partial stacked sensor to compete with the Nikon Z6 III. I think it would be interesting if there was a LiDAR sensor to help with nighttime autofocus
yes I agree. love your ideas. and please sony, we need double exposure!
So you would sacrifice your 120 fps burst workflow?
I agree that the Sony a7v with a 33 mxp stacked sensor that could shoot 20 frames per second would be perfect
Second hand A1 is now the ultimate wedding camera - Loads on the market now for around 3k. Shoot medium Raw if you want lower res with it.
Loads of A1, for $3,000,,,where are they ?
Free Apps being able to install and finally a good screen like a smartphone is definitly important!
you will win the lottery sooner as sony would make a new cam... i am switching to Nikon... nice N wedding stuff....
🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣 it does exit, it is called Auto ISOMin SS, come on now, learn your craft.
This is true. 30-36mpx is the sweet spot.
make a z9 type camera for weddings...just a little smaller 30 mp max! feature to upload luts and embed if i choose in jpegs! 12 is enough for that, 20 fps would be enough, precapture 2 seconds! and focus staking on the go in images if multiple people in the shot!!! that is much better to have everyone sharp in the shot, and let say will take 6 or 8 images and combine them in one...the price 4500 euros maximum
Some type of Auto aperture would be great to get multiple people all in focus!
Has the original A9 stopped working?
