My Wife is Chinese, HK born , She has been in Canada longer than me, so I am the Gwailo immigrant. We have eaten in many of the restaurants you have featured here. Also many restaurants large and small in Vancouver, Burnaby and Coquitlam Love the BBQ Duck @ T&T. Thanks for the video.

@@AmandaFelixEats glad to see you guys traveling. I watched all of your videos last year before going to Hawaii. Glad you made it out to the west coast. Come on down to Northern California next time!
Its changed alot over the last 10+ years... many hong kong restaurants have closed and taken over by mainland chinese restaurants with the influx of mainlanders immigrating over here.
There is also plenty of bad Chinese, in fact, the worst I've had is in Vancouver. I've had it better almost everywhere else. You have to know where you're dining.
It's been known as Hongcouver for a while now. Different cities in the lower mainland have unique profiles...like Surrey has a large Indian population, many Filipinos in East Vancouver, etc.
My mum and I were traveling in Zimbabwe in the 90s and we met a woman from Hong Kong. She said many of the best chefs from Hong Kong had recently immigrated to Vancouver.
Oh nice, I stayed in Richmond for my job certification training at the airport. Wish I had known about this place while I was there, next time I suppose. There was a nice little Vegetarian Chinese food place down the street from the hotel where I stayed, they had the best tofu Bao buns and veggie Kung Pao “chicken”.
OMG Amanda and Felix in Vancouver! I watched so many of your eat videos before going to Oahu this past February 2024. Now I’m going to Vancouver to cruise to Alaska this May 2024 and I’m watching UA-cam to see where to eat in Vancouver 😂 and who’s in Vancouver! Another great and exciting job of highlighting foods whereever u visit. So much fun! Made me want to visit canada! Looks like u had a blast!! I do hope u visit these places again and visit more foodie places. Dim sum looked amazing. Esp the roast pork n char sui. Great job!!!❤
Dim Sum “Touch of the Heart” is my favorite among Chinese food.. simply put, it’s served in small portion that touches your hearts foodie desires. Vancouver’s China Town seem to offer vast variety of authentic Hong Kong Style dim sum, bake goods and Chinese BBQ in comparison to most of the Chinese restaurants here in the North Bay…I do enjoy Dim Sum restaurants back home in Honolulu at the Chinese Cultural Center maybe because that’s where I was raised. Enjoy you both immensely.. Aloha!
Oh YUM! Big craving for dim sum now. And yeah, finally gotta go try Happy Lemon just down the street from me. 😆 Thank you for your excellent videos and taking us along with you! 😍
I am born and raised in Richmond and I love the fact you call it chinatown XD, Technically not chinatown, asians just overwhelmed everything and spread the asian food and culture all over Richmond, but we all love it haha Come back and try MORE! there is so much more good asian food in Richmond and Vancouver
Great vids, been thinking of heading that way... so thank you for the visits! BTW, try chili sauce/oil with soy sauce for your dipping sauce...takes it all to a different level.
I had to chuckle when you mentioned all the airplane sounds when you were outside trying the BBQ. Richmond is where the Vancouver Airport is so you hear planes all the time. Glad you are enjoying my home city of Vancouver.

Local Chinese Canadians can tell you that the best dim sum offered includes better pricing, freshly made to order food, and in most cases, a 30-45 minute wait, since they are the most popular. Fusion, high priced ingredients with matching prices can take a hike.
Guys loved your video today. The dim sum looked amazing and made my mouth water. Grew up in Hawaii but live near San Francisco now but I have visited BC many times. Just outside of Richmond in Burnaby there’s a little Asian mall with more good Chinese food if you have the time to go there. Kind of hidden but well worth going.

@1:09, the rail behind you looks like ours in design! Except...theirs is FINISHED, I assume! Anyway, I like that dim sum place because the food looked great, and I prefer that style of ordering, kind of like Jade Dynasty in AM. No need to ask the server to keep lifting covers to see what she has! Squid ink one looked great! Different! Funny how so many places were cash only! Even Royal Kitchen takes cards!
I've walked past HK Masterplace a few times, but never tried it. Now I'll have to go eat there next time I'm in Richmond. Aww, to think I was just there yesterday but chose to have lunch at Arbedeen mall nearby. Do visit the food court at Arbedeen mall the next time you're back in Richmond. It's an Asian mall with Korean, Chinese, Japanese stores, restuarants, and food court. Ofc, bring cash, lol.
there's only about 5 or 6 restuarants left in vancouver that offer push carts. If you ever head back here, hit me up. Not everyone uses the hot mustard or red hot sauce, it really preference, they don't give it to you because honestly, they're cheap and don't want it wasted if it's not used. if you ever come across a truffled mushroom dumpling, that really works. Duck is in a shortage in Vancouver due to a local bird flu epidemic in the farms, the prices have risen over 40% in the past few months.
The airport is located in Richmond so many parts are under the flight zone. It's quite disconcerting and you can see how low the planes are just before they land which is mildly exciting.
Great video food tour! And thank you for visiting Canada. Sounds like Richmond is the best place by in Canada for Dim Sum. Oh…. here in Manitoba-20 to -50 is a normal winter temp range. I love you were greeted with traditional what tea do you want to drink 👍 I can hear Cantonese and mandarin 🙏💪 but when you start putting mustard on food, I switched off!!! 😳 Yes def only a Hawaii thing.
All the Dim Sum you ordered looked so yummy. Loved seeing Felix's eyes roll back when eating the Truffle Sui Mai, the Eel Puff Pastry as well as the BBQ Pork. My family uses the Chinese mustard and soy sauce mixture to dip dim sum in and to pour over chow mein, and chow fun. This is pretty old school as most people only use chili oil and soy nowadays. So great to see you guys enjoying food away from your home ground; kind of what happens when we vacation in Hawaii. Hope to see your on-the-road episodes in the future.
Richmond, British Columbia is an independent, incorporated municipality / city. Like Burnaby, BC, North Vancouver, BC, and other independent cities, it comprises what is referred to as "Metro Vancouver."
Vancouver has a lot of delicious Asian food…ie Chinese dim sum ( shown here) and hotpot, Japanese sushi (best sushi outside of Japan )and ramen,Korean barbecue, Vietnamese Pho and Bánh mi, India butter chicken, and tandoori chicken,Taiwanese bubble tea, Thai and Malaysia ten courses meal, ….
HK BBQ is ok . I tried it before and it was recommended by people. We bought a couple of duck and BBQ pork several years ago and brought it home from in Seattle and again it was OK. If you guys ever try another place and it would be the Dollar Meat Store in Vancouver BC China Town, To us they are much better.
Woohoo!!!! Soooooo glad you were able to try some great dim-sum eats in Richmond, BC!😋😋😋😋😋😋 #myhometown #thebestasianfoodoutsideofasia Also known as the most Asian city in all of North America!
HK (Hong Kong) BBQ Master has the best roasted pork. Thats my go to. The duck is also very good but it is always sold out. Needs to order and reserve ahead of time. How do you find the food in Vancouver compares to Hawaii?
I think we are considered the mecca of asian food in the world. Often most asian countries have a few types of cultural asian food but because we attract asians from all over the world who set up restaurants here, we have almost all the the types of asian food. lol
You guys should eat at the HK BBQ instead of take out. Everything tastes good with hot fresh rice. Too bad you guys missed the roast duck due to avian flu, no local farm fresh duck for a while now. Sometimes they have duck imported from the US but still very expensive. Enjoy your stay in Vancouver. Ritz is a MUST have for pineapple bun! 😋
The international airport is in Richmond lol which was why there were so many planes. I would reccomend Tian Shi Fu in Richmond. Hole in the wall but everything is so good and affordable! Also, I get that because it is like 90% Chinese in Richmond, one would think it is our Chinatown but the actual Chinatown is in Vancouver. If you ever come back and visit chinatown, Phnom Penh (must get wings, luc lac, butter beef), Juke fried chicken, New Town Bakery are popular there along with other Japanese fusion. It is kinda sketchy there so I would suggest not going any streets past these restaurants.

We enjoyed it soooo much 🤤 hope we can come back soon!
If you want push cart dimsum, go to Continental Seafood Restaurant, also in Richmond.
Did you guys re-dub the audio at the boba place?
Some clips we used an audio enhancer due to copyright music 😅
HK (Hong Kong) BBQ Master has the best roasted pork. Thats my go to. The duck is also very good but it is always sold out. Needs to order and reserve ahead of time. How do you find the food in Vancouver compares to Hawaii?
I think we are considered the mecca of asian food in the world. Often most asian countries have a few types of cultural asian food but because we attract asians from all over the world who set up restaurants here, we have almost all the the types of asian food. lol
Richmond Vancouver / spare ribs everything …
Do you know if we are allowed buy the “lava bun” and bring back to the US?
Great Vlog was that Spighetti looks Ono 😘⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘💜💙🌿
Mahalo Chrissy!
In fact, better chinese food than most places in Asia outside of China and Taiwan with much larger portions and quality ingredients.
If you ever come back, I highly recommend Chinatown BBQ in downtown and Eggette House in Richmond :)
Candied Salmon Is good!
Yummy 😋
