Perfect test and comparison! these are all exellent guitars. But to do a bit of sound analytics, my results for the sound - scoring 1-5 (1 worst sounding, 5 best sounding): TEST1: PICKING 0:04 614ce: 3 0:31 814ce: 4 0:56 914ce: 5 1:24 k14ce: 4 - nice example how disturbing satin finish is to the recording when using condensor mics! K14ce even has a silent satin finish but does it really help much? TEST 2: STRUMMING 2:10 614ce: 4 2:35 814ce: 3 3:03 914ce: 4 3:34 k14ce: 5 TEST 3: HIGH STRUMMING 4:05 614ce: 4 4:26 814ce: 4.5 4:50 914ce: 4.5 5:15 k14ce: 5 TEST 4: SOLO 5:38 614ce: 3 5:47 814ce: 4 5:56 914ce: 4.7 6:05 k14ce: 5 This leads to conclusion that best overall sounding guitar for me is: - k14ce with total score of 19 followed closely by 914ce with total score of 18.2 - followed by 614ce and 814ce, both with total score of 15.5 My conclusion would be go with k14ce. If on a bit lower budget go with 814ce rather than 614ce for most styles they were comparable with 814ce being a bit better for hand picking and 614ce a bit better for strumming.
Great video! They all sound good and I can definitely hear a difference. But they still all sound like a Taylor. Which means you could choose any one of these and not go wrong. I would choose the K-14 just because I like the appointments of the 900 series a nd the features of the Builder's Edition.
I was looking at 814s and found a used K14 for the same price as the new 814 and it's pretty incredible. The silent satin finish is a really nice touch as well.
I have and bought brand new 2015 614ce,2018 814cedlx v brace,2015 816ce,2019 614ce builders edition v brace,2015 914 ce,2019 K-24 ce koa, and a Baby Taylor,I also own 1980 Martin D-28 which is the only in Martin I've ever liked and I've owned a bunch of Martin guitars.
Since these guitars are probably brand new, although the test is very well done, this doesn't say anything about the sound/tone these will have after some years. I own a Lakewood M32CE which sounded rather tin and sparkly when it was new, after 10 years it has become are very full and warm sounding guitar.
I have seven Taylor guitars ,This video don't do them justice,My guitars all sounds different not one of them sounds the same but on this video they do sound a lot alike ,I'm wondering why because not kidding my guitars are and sound nothing a like
Nice video and guitars, very nice playing!! ... I really really do not like how the higher ¨the level¨ the more mids they add in Taylor guitars... for me thats not acoustic, it should be more natural like Martin. or other, ... For example you should not be processing, editing so much an acoustic guitar on any recording...
God you lost me at wonderwall. That 914 sounds the cleanest and most balanced to me. The 14 sounds good but a little moody in spots and not as refined? The 614 is a bit less focused and the 814 was loud an nice but meh

Did you tell that to flamenco players aswell? ^^ Acoustic guitar has the body, why don't use it if it fits great to the song? Good question is only to people, who tries to drum more than playing the notes. But if you play all notes and add drums replacement at the same time, why not?

5:38 614ce: 3
5:47 814ce: 4
5:56 914ce: 4.7
6:05 k14ce: 5
This leads to conclusion that best overall sounding guitar for me is:
- k14ce with total score of 19
followed closely by 914ce with total score of 18.2
- followed by 614ce and 814ce, both with total score of 15.5
My conclusion would be go with k14ce.
If on a bit lower budget go with 814ce rather than 614ce for most styles they were comparable with 814ce being a bit better for hand picking and 614ce a bit better for strumming.
What are your thoughts on the K24ce Builders?
It's subjective. Sometimes I like the bright quality of maple, other times I like rosewood or mahoghany. It's difficult to choose but fun doing it.
Great comparison! I like Taylor and own a couple, but these guitars sounded extremely similar to one another.
@John wayne LOL found the Martin employee.
914 volume and definition. Nice. But I would buy the 614, better price for almost the same.
I liked the 614 and the K14 the most

814ce 👍
Voted for 814ce
614ce and k14ce for high and low position strumming
814ce for low position strumming
Amazing video! So nice to hear them all strummed! Thanks
614 for me 👏🤘👍
814CE is great.
Great demo.
I like Taylor k14ce builder’s edition
Why can't Taylor put the same tuners on the 814ce as they do the 914ce and up? It would have made the price shock more tolerable!
It's very interessting to compare these high end Taylors. I would choose the 614. The difference in sound to the other is minimal.
That was a good comparison. I think I liked the 914 the most, but the 814 and the K14 were also nice. The 614 was too bright.
All very beautiful and unique.

ive played many of these and have found you notice the extra bass in the rosewood back and sides of, say, a 914 vs koa back and sides

I own a Lakewood M32CE which sounded rather tin and sparkly when it was new, after 10 years it has become are very full and warm sounding guitar.
914 cause i pick rosewood over koa.
The k14 sounds the best to me but i prefer the shorter scale of the 914ce
914 has the normal 25.5 scale. It is the same exact build as the the 914 with just different aesthetic appointments.
814 for me
I have the 818e and love it. Better than the Martin I have but it is a lower price DC4PA.
cmonnnnn
Very pleasant, but dang it, I don't hear any difference in the great sounding guitars.
there isnt much
I have seven Taylor guitars ,This video don't do them justice,My guitars all sounds different not one of them sounds the same but on this video they do sound a lot alike ,I'm wondering why because not kidding my guitars are and sound nothing a like

The 914 is a top notch guitar
I like 914 more. Have K14...
God you lost me at wonderwall. That 914 sounds the cleanest and most balanced to me. The 14 sounds good but a little moody in spots and not as refined? The 614 is a bit less focused and the 814 was loud an nice but meh
What strings?
Taylor uses currently light gauge 12-53. D'Addario XS. Some years ago they used Elixir strings
614 maple won!
814 all day! 😎👍
614
Vigo, english please!
Guitars are made for strumming or plucking firgerpicking not as drum or percussion instrument .. as a guitar lover I wouldn't do that and hurt my guitat.. hire a percussionist or used a rhythm machine instead
I'm not in that style either, but the guitar styles have evolved over the years, just like the bass guitar. Who had heard of slapping in the 70ties?
Did you tell that to flamenco players aswell? ^^
Acoustic guitar has the body, why don't use it if it fits great to the song? Good question is only to people, who tries to drum more than playing the notes. But if you play all notes and add drums replacement at the same time, why not?
