I've loved this album for years. I actually had to replace the CD a few times. It's so calm and relaxing. I play it all the time when I need something on in the background. I associate this album most closely to when I was taking summer session at college one year and living in the dorms. It was a hot summer so I'd go study in the park and bring my discman (hey it was summer of 2001) and play this. I'd sit in the park and listen to it all the way through twice, just about the right amount of time to get my studying done. Now every time I listen I go right back to this summer and plenty of other nice memories too. Love his other work as well.
The man is a true master - I truly can't imagine having thoughts/feelings or even a broad direction of making this kind of music and O'Hearn keeps doing it.. It's pure brilliance. My personal favorite is the Crying Freeman soundtrack (it's on Ytube) - best whishes !
This is truly my favorite album ever. I will always come back to this. There is nothing that is more soothing yet haunting as this. This brings me a peace but simultaneously a discordant feeling of needing to be better, or rather, to discard my broken self and uplift that which is holy.
I was hearing a bunch of mainstream music for about 2 hours today. My mind was running wild,so many thoughts of confusion. So i decided to switch it up and listen to some good old Patrick O'Hearn.Soon as that ambient sound set in,I felt a rush of goosebumps from the top of my shoulders down my fingertips. My mind stood still and this overwhelming sence of euphoria crept in..There is really something sacred about ambient sounds and its frequency.
I don't always like to listen to music while I'm in the woods, but I would recommend hiking to a secluded area, setting up a hammock, and listening to this album while you're relaxing with nature and its beauty. Absolutely euphoric. In this moment you'll realize that all is well with the universe.
It's always nice to escape and find peace but if by doing this you find all is well with the universe, you are just deluding yourself. However, for that brief moment I can understand that all is well in YOUR universe, and THAT is where everything starts.
I had the same experience! I was listening to Pandora on a warm spring afternoon with my windows open. I had a dream that was so peaceful that I didn’t want to wake up. When I did though, Beyond This Moment was playing and my curtains were floating with the breeze. This song is magic.
I bought the CD and enjoy listening to it here on YT when I don't have my player or if its not on the PC I am using at the time. Please support Patrick O'Hearn and all his music by buying his releases instead of trying to download or record it here or elsewhere. This will keep him creating new music for all of us to enjoy for years to come
There is a sentimental beauty and relaxation in these songs it clings to me, in a way that I cannot express. I may be young, and reckless, But this song reminds me of the humbleness in my heart.
I first fell in love with Patrick O'Hearn in 1987 when he released "Between Different Worlds" on Windham Hill Records. Last year I bought that album again, but on CD and it wasn't easy to find either. He's simply a wellspring of musical genius
To all you people who correlate this with some God and have tried to hi-jack this for your own self interests? . Shut up. Its just well written and produced music. It has nothing whatsoever to do with your god. FFS, can you leave nothing alone?
This whole album is totally fantastic, Panning The Sands is mind-blowing on a killer stereo system, try it. I wish Patrick would produce another album just like this one. Thanks for the upload.
I love "Quiet time" music.... Thank you, for posting such a splendid collection of songs, by this master of quiet time music...... I can close my eye's and see the world in a different light.... Thank you for the post!
Such a deep album! Patrick O'Hearn is a genius at creating ambience with emotional tones. This album can't help but cause inner reflection and feeling. Simply excellent.
I assure you, God is peace. He is beyond words. He has lead me to know him over the years, and daily I grow. Read this with peace, brother, for I am talking to you.
I always try to take time to listen and relax . I have had countless people say "that's elevator music" that's boring, "it puts me to sleep" Well it's called peaceful, and usually they NEED to relax and be "bored". No one knows how to sit still anymore and just BE. Here's a suggestion, watch the Nooma videos "NOISE" and "RHYTHM" (just because Rob Bell has weird theology doesn't make the message false.)
Came to see the technical comments about this awesome piece of music. Left when I saw 100ish comments about random religious experiences. Was Patrick in a fucking cult for a bit or something? I thought he was just a bassist for Missing Persons and Frank Zappa.
To my mind, the only artist who comes close to this Spiritual sound is some older Peter Buffett, when his music was worshiping the Native Culture, before his singing crusades...
He said that after performing in concert with Missing Persons, he would go back to his hotel room and experiment with computers and synthesizers which is the product we hear from him now.
The House of Spirits is looking for musicians and help the house of spirit band espiritual band in mixtures of nature and the chaos of life everyone has forgot the chaos of nature I remember I look for it it is my mother my father my spirit🇵🇹🇬🇷🇪🇸🇦🇴🎼🤗🥁🎼🎵🎶🎷🎸🎹🎤👨🏾🎨
I fantasize when listening to this album (especially A Lovely Place to Be & Beyond This Moment) that one day I'll be invited to a concert of Patrick performing all of these pieces at the Disney Philharmonic concert hall in Downtown Los Angeles.
I am a music person. I have always been and always will be. I had not heard or noticed Patrick O'Hearn until recently. It is an oversight, but one that is understandable. His music defies convention. By chance I was in a record store, listening to records and I came across the song At First Light and immediately recognized it as the inspiration for Children by Robert Miles, after briefly feeling loss at the death of Robert Miles I knew I should look into O'Hearn. This album presently fascinates me. I agree with many of the other commenters who have noted its brillance and uniqueness.
This is his most contemplative work and one of the best. The collaboration with old friend Peter Maunu is spotless and the convergence between both in how to conceive and articulate the music between both is quite obvious. It even works as a long instrumental in the Mike Oldfield fashion, with very blurred boundaries between the tracks. Patrick has to be one of the most unfairly ignored instrumental music masters by the monstrous and demonic industry which favours forgettable and robotic hits from true art.
This album is nothing short of amazing. It makes me feel human. Reflective of my life and journey. We made it this far might as well keep going. Beautiful.
I own this album and love every single song. I used to listen to some of these songs on a loop while sleeping. I feel like I am more rested with 1 or 2 hours less sleep.
Gotta say, I'm atheist, but this is so relaxing. (I've seen a lot of religious comments down below and figured that this is supposed to be spiritual in some way). Thanks for uploading :)
+Natatatalatalie Wolff I'm also an atheist. the natural world is all any of these people experience and mistake it for supernatural. supernatural is completely unnecessary. The real world is more fascinating because it doesn't include morality and judgement...those are constructs endemic to life forms not the universe as a whole. It is beyond words and understanding but natural.

These tunes are beautiful beautiful beautiful.....tnx for sharing, I listen to them over and over....
@@HiddenbyLeaves Have it. Great soundtrack (from 976-CREOLEMAN)!
This album keeps me focused when writing papers. Thank You.

One of the very best ambient artists out there!!!
beautifully atmospheric music, love it.
Loving this so far....
Music perfection!
So Beautiful.

No doubt! It is real.
I just found this album this year. It's crazy how this album was released 16 years ago. That's real music
Better late than never!
This makes me feel like I am living my life incorrectly and everything I do is wrong. Patrick's music is pure brilliance.
Completely blown away by the "Beyond This Moment" track, which starts at 26:14
I made a music video for it, submitted it to Patrick. He really liked it. ua-cam.com/video/mqsJy5euUcQ/v-deo.html
+Ian S. McBride That's one of my favorites too.
agreed
Ian S. McBride. Me too that's my favorite. Sounds like nostalgia to me..
I feel the same way. How interesting....

This whole entire album has stunned me to another level. I could listen to this every day for the rest of my life and not get tired of it.
I first heard Beyond this Moment on Pandora and was catapulted into bliss. Love it.

I love the base line in "So Flows The Current" ...
Como siempre Patrick Ohearn genial en sus composiciones nos logra llevar a otros universos y galaxias, disco obligado a comprar.
it's patrick o'hearn from the band missing persons?????
No doubt!
started with Zappa , like many others, including Bozzio also from missing persons
Listening to Pandora at work I stumbled onto A Lovely Place to Be. What a gift. Thank you Patrick.
There is a sentimental beauty and relaxation in these songs it clings to me, in a way that I cannot express. I may be young, and reckless, But this song reminds me of the humbleness in my heart.

You mean "Between Two Worlds".
My brother and I played this album on repeat when we were in Yosemite a few weeks ago. It's perfection.
In my humble opinion, Patrick at his best! Who could argue his work isn't spiritual? Even the titles of his albums and tracks alone speak volumes.
Along the waterfront.
Absolutely stunning, without doubt my fave track.
I love that track and The Cold Sea’s Embrace equally for different reasons. They both sound so cold and ominous. Pure brilliance.
River's Gonna Rise was always my favorite, but this is his best work, hands down...
To all you people who correlate this with some God and have tried to hi-jack this for your own self interests? . Shut up. Its just well written and produced music. It has nothing whatsoever to do with your god. FFS, can you leave nothing alone?
A Lovely Place To Be and Like So Much Lost Time is just utterly astounding.
Thank You Patrick O'Hearn for creating this masterpiece. I think this album is your opus.❤
This whole album is totally fantastic, Panning The Sands is mind-blowing on a killer stereo system, try it.

I doubt it . He has grown and matured as an artist as well as a man. It's hard to stop progression !
This music transcends all human boundaries

This came out in 2001?! Way ahead of it's time.
Thanks for posting. Lovely song. I learned of Patrick O'Hearn through Sirius XM satellite radio.
Some music comes to you, like it's been within you all your life. When you hear it then in expresión, its a sinfony of ilumination.

What a change from his Missing Persons days! ;-)
or his Zappa days
Delbert Quin took the words from my mouth
I'll take Give over this any day, personally.
He was that band ....because of him they were very successful....
He said that after performing in concert with Missing Persons, he would go back to his hotel room and experiment with computers and synthesizers which is the product we hear from him now.
