We hope you enjoyed seeing how Jolson has revived Robin Boyd’s original vision by reconnecting this 1950s home to the surrounding landscape. By carefully removing past renovations and reintroducing seamless connections to the garden, the design truly honours Boyd’s timeless approach and celebrates the harmony between architecture and nature. For more of the latest and greatest in architecture and design, be sure to order a copy of our new trio of hardcover books - Habitats: City, Coast and Forest: thelocalproject.com.au/product/habitats-city-coast-forest/
I love how much credit Jolson gives to Boyd's original design. You can see one architect's admiration of another of a totally different generation and how the new and the old make bridges. I loved the new circular terrace - i would totally spend most of my weekends hanging out there. I like renovations as well! I would've LOVED to see some pictures of the original house and the changes made to it. Would love to compare the two designs!
Simply beautiful architecture ! The connection with nature after COVID became elemental after being forgotten with tons of modernity and better use of space .
Love this home. I would never leave! Every home and importantly, aspect of the home should be designed to blend into its surrounding landscape as seamlessly as this does..Bravo.
We begin our day watching an architectural video with our startup coffee. To avoid re-watching, we tag them with a "Yes" or a "No"... this peaceful delight joined the exclusive few with a "Yes"! Congratulations! This is a higher accolade than any RIBA award. 😊
I am so grateful the owners used their money to undo the mess made by someone else spending THEIR money ... the respect for Boyd's intentions is laudable and the architect has done a beautiful job with beautiful materials.
I like this channel but wish the architects weren’t so scripted and rigid. And I wish they’d avoid so much architecture speak, “materiality” etc - it’s a turn off
I am the opposite. I wish channels wouldn't dumb down what they are saying. It's nice to hear an architect speak intelligently on their terms about their project, in their language. Thats one of the attractions of this channel.
I can agree with that, but do you really feel like that’s what they’re doing? To me it often sounds like pseudo marketing speak. It’s probably not entirely consistent from video to video. But I think they should double down on that if that’s the intent.

At this rate, I might as well just move to Australia and start practicing architecture there...These projects are absolute knockouts!
Mate! Aren't they... This is my favourite channel right now. This house is knockout.
@@vnkman4391 I agree, 100%. My favorite channel by far.
I would never leave ever from this house. I swear to God. What a beautiful, harmonious landscape. :)

This is a labour of love that repays tenfold... what a restful, contemplative space. Thank you.

Well done with that circular terrace so they can go out and be in the trees!
so peaceful, so simple yet effortlessly elegant.
Beautiful, love it, thank you.
Amazingly well done house, love everything but most importantly the nature surrounding the property is something out of this world. Great job.

A greenhouse lover's dream abode
What a wonderful bar, a shrine to drinking in the heart of the home.
