Wow, this was a fantastic interview Corey. Charles is filled with history, knowledge and big-time appreciation for funk music. Loved when he talked about James Brown. The way he said "funk music has always been a part of my life" says it all. But it was the story of Zapp that had me smiling from start to finish. Larry Troutman keeping his word and hiring him to work for them was a nice touch. Roger Troutman's mansion. Awesome. I appreciate you sharing this Corey. Definitely one of your finest interviews to date. Top notch - five stars way up~ Rob/Boston
I was very fortunate to meet Charles and glad the interview went down as we planned. I learned a lot about the Troutman's beyond the well known legacy and much more about funk's roots in Dayton.Thank you so much for supporting the channel and your kind words, 5 star rating for Charles' story Rob.
Hey there Corey, FANTASTIC VIDEO ! Loved hearing the stories first hand from Charles Wag-A-Bag about the history from Dayton and that Funk Music from a time that I personally grew up in listening to James Brown, Heatwave the Tramps and even The Jackson -5 was always was something so energetic to listen to I know that type of music would always be part of my life and collection. I definitely feel that a large part of Disco was born and influenced due to that 70's Funk and is one of my favorite channels on Pandora Radio, ( 70's Funk ). Great Idea for a video Corey and great seeing you again, take care buddy and talk to you soon.~ Jeff
Charles and I hit it off instantly. We started talking about music and Dayton pretty early on the first time we met. I was really excited once he agreed to an interview, this is gold nuggets for the vinyl community in my opinion.
Mr. Wagner has led an interesting life. Excellent interview, Corey; he seems like a good guy. I don't think many people understand how much great music Ohio is responsible for. Cheers! Tom
Wow awesome comment, well said. When I first met Charles, it only took about 10 minutes for us to end up talking about music. That soon led to his connections and my video camera. I wish I could include more music and photos but I did the best I could while keeping in mind not to get into copyright issues. Thank you Tom.
