Don't shoot at ground level targets with the Radar Missiles. The radar will wash out. It's not a bad plane and is fun to play. If you have the CS5 then don't get this unless you're grinding for it. Don't spend your money unless you don't have it's better twin.

I bought this for $26 and it’s now my favorite plane. The magics 2s and Super530ds are so good. Plus the dogfighting ability is great too with its AoA capabilities. Also you can put the radar in ACM pd hnd for head ons and it will never break lock if they’re within 10k so the super 530 smacks em good
if this is your first event vehicle and you dont have any other top tier, keep it. this will make grinding events way easier in the future
I will never understand why people think this is a bad plane. In sim and RB its a fantastic airframe, yes it only had 4 missiles and limited ammo, but if you learn how the radar missiles work, the combination of a really good radar and some good radar missiles will get you a minimum of 2 kills a game.
Going for it. I have the Mirage F1CT, but I like the idea of grinding for the Mirage 2Ks .. with a Mirage 2K. Doesn't hurt that I like French aviation.

It's really nice detail that you take this opportunity to show new jet players all kind of bad missile launches they shoudl never take. Especially with only 4 missiles.
-Firing IR missile head-on: the target clearly sees it coming and flares (IRCCM or not, that won't work)
-Firing radar missile at very low target, multipath will make it a miss most times.
-Firing radar missile head-on under 2 km, missile doesnt have time to start tracking (especially bad with 530D)

Tankenstein I love you but I am so terribly confused on why you are shooting radar missiles at targets that are hugging the ground, you are an experienced player you know that SARH missiles are not going to hit at that altitude.
He might be experienced but there are countless examples of him being not the best player I cringe every time he does shit like this
A good tip for all the French radar. Guided missiles is to launch them when you're above 1.05. the extra energy you're imparting on to the missile really helps. It actually be useful that applies for the 530f as well
I've found that this plane teaches a lot of patients. You have to try to skirt around the furball otherwise something will dive on you, your deck speed is just about the best in the game so you have to use that to get away from enemies that have far more missiles or better radars than you.
I've been averaging about two kills per game, usually when I get less it's because the match is over before I commit.
I find you pretty hard with this plane. It's pretty quick and has a good acceleration compared to the other plane it will face (when not uptiered) the 530D is ok+ tier and the magic 2 is excellent under 2km. With good battle reading, you can hit with 3 of your 4 missiles. Good plane overall.
I played a dozen game with it all 12.3 game, you will not get any 11.7games

@@valeredumont5018 played a few matches with the TT one today and was honestly surprised by the number of max downtiers, felt like every 3rd maybe 4rt match
@@valeredumont5018 that was just unlucky then, i just had 3 downtiers to 11.3 in a row after some uptiers.
Im not sure but i think switching servers could help sometimes (but i dont know that for sure)
High PRF radars in war thunder are modeled very badly (in game it'll say "HDN" for headon which kinda demonstrates pretty clearly that the devs don't actually understand how PRF works)
I mean, the only reason the NATO radars are completely butchered is to 'match' their Russian equivalents (and to make it simple for coding).
Meanwhile they gave Russian missiles and radars that are barely affected by ground clutter... Which NATO radars and missiles have according to Gaijin.
@@LongTimeAgoNL Gaijin seems to think that high PRF means you can only see things coming directly at you at a very high closure rate. In reality a high performing radar antenna (like in the AWG-9 in the F14 for example) is going to have pretty much no trouble acquiring a cold target in a high PRF mode, especially from a look-up position. It can affect the quality of an STT track if the target changes relative velocity really quickly, but many high PRF radars also have aspect gates allowing the pilot or RIO to change the doppler filter according to the aspect of the target. I have tried to give gaijin this feedback before in their CC discord where supposedly they listen to feedback from content creators, but the problem has been unaddressed for years now.

@@michaels9739 Just by posting that reaction you have no idea what you're talking about.
It took untill the MIG-25 Foxbat for Russian radars to be actually 'ok' and stand-alone and not dependent on (deployable) ground stations to be viable. The MIG-23 for example had such a bad radar that BVR was impossible without a sufficient number of ground radar units to feed the planes (extra) data.
Pilots had to also manually change radar modes to keep a lock (just like we have to do now in WT) while NATO radars, especially since the F-4, could basically do most stuff automatically (just like @flatez mentioned) and had way less issues with notching.
While Russians still had radars that were trying to match the older F-4 variants, they were already facing F-15's. But in War Thunder they... Sort of just made NATO radars worse to keep everything "balanced®".
I have just spaded the Mirage 2KC-S4 and overall is a great and fun plane to fly! Super fast, flares are reasonably enough to fend off multiple incoming missiles, great magic 2 IR missiles and a decent radar missiles with 530D!

@Tankenstein the reason the radar is bad is because there notching it.something i find really cool is that you can change radar mode whilst being locked.

So why can't the event vehicles be premium exactly? Only stuff like the Tog II and the Sturmtiger get that status? God forbid the event vehicle you spend forever grinding for gets the ability to be a premium. Nah, you gotta suffer 90 something % hit to RP grind. Gaijin couldn't be bothered to allow a top tier to be premium. I got a friend who owns top-tier premiums out the ass and he personally thinks it is ridiculous that these event vehicles are not premiums.
I had actually not known this until after I earned the CT-CV 105HP in whatever event that was and since I haven't played Sweden before I don't have a line-up for it so it's just like...I literally can't even use it because it's RP gains are trash. I could forgive it if event vehicles came spaded and/or talisman'ed out of the box but no, it's just straight up, "hey, grind out this vehicle's modifications after you just spent weeks grinding the points for it in the first place. Have fun!!!!"
if Gajin made this thing a premium they'd double point req for the event and increase the Stars needed to 10 at least. They don't have high tier vehicles premium for a reason

The mirage 2000-5F fixes most issues about the plane.
Better radar, HMD, more missiles
Have to disagree with you on the poor acceleration and poor flight performance as someone with both the F15 and the SU27 I can say this jets a lot better then you give it credit for

no idea what you mean by the mig23 having a better radar than the m2k? For me the mirage holds locks more consistently and is pretty hard to notch
you are kidding right? The Mirage 2000 radar is literally a garbage can lid taped to the front of a microwave. It is utter utter trash.
The mirage only has head-on radar systems. TWS HDN, PD HDN. In HDN Tracking systems you can very easily be notched as the radar only tracks enemies coming "head-on" to you.
You can notch and bank 60 degrees to the enemy you are tracking but if they do to you, you pretty much loose the lock in HDN

having flown both, the RDI on the Mirage easily holds locks while being notched (almost) perpendicularly by the plane i'm locking - the MTI on the 23's just cannot do this at the level of the mirage radar
Mate, you don’t know how to use MIRAGE radar with that MATRA 530. If you are familiale with US or USSR Radar system, mirage is another story. It doesn’t lock from the edges right /left or from behind, only head on and it shouldn’t be close to ground level.
Then regarding the magic 2, you can shoot at a range between 2.5km and 2Km. At this range, that magic doesn’t care about flare, also if you shoot very close, it doesn’t fuse.. so better not lunch it below 1.5km.

it's so funny how the planes that are beastmode in 1v1's are so blatantly irrelevant in random battles, applies to literally the majority of them.

I think it would be better at 11.3, as a mig-23ml player I think this is good competition for it but doesn’t hold up as well. Other things at this br are more forgiving with more weapon availability

French main here. Youll have a very hard time with this plane : no look down all aspect radar, bad fuse time on mafic 2s. You'll lose most of your head on engagements. And only 4 missiles... Lazy copy paste by Gaijin
used to be very good when the only contender was the F14A :)
now itll certainly take experience to get anything out of an uptier.

It's really bad man... I was so hyped for it, now i'm just crying for the 15 days i spent for this piece of sh!t... I mean it's not a bad plane, it's the matchmaker that sucks, it's just so unfair at this BR... In 10.3 matches it'd be way too good, in 12.3 it's just not good enough... I felt so bad flying this thing for the 1st time, it was so embarrassing, going from having at least 2:1 kill to death ratio to having 20 matches and only 3 kills, that's how bad it's for me... Oh and by the way that comes from someone who has a max crew in the French tree + expert crew on the Mirage... I can only imagine how bad it's going to be for someone who's just starting the French tree and grinded the Mirage to grind the French tree from scratch... I was gonna hope for a buff or something, but given the S5 is the exact same just with more countermeasures and it's been out for a year, yeah... It's not going to happen... I wonder how Gaijin thinks this is competitive in an F-15/F-16/Su-27/Mig-29 lobby.... it's just a sad plane to be in at that matchmaker... And this is REALLY sad because the Mirage-2000 is an iconic plane, and it is a very capable one too. I've gotten 2 great 1v1s at the end of the matches where most guys were dead and i didn't have to deal with a thousand missiles coming my way, and this thing did great vs an F-14b and an F-16c.... Extremely fun to fly... But again not in this kind of hell that Gaijin presents as Top Tier... For that you need an F-15 or SU-27 or a Grippen... If not, don't waste your time and SL, play a different BR...

Yeah I also dont shoot on headons when the game start I always go to the side of the map and when the enemy’s fly past me without detecting me I fly behind them and missle them at like 2-3km and I mostly get them
