      Hello
      I don't know if you play simulator in WT... But do you have any specific advice about that? Everything you said in the video also applies to sim? I've been playing diverse simulators since 2009 (WarBirds, IL-2, etc...) But never touched a jet. I'm about to get Me 262 and CL-13 from german tree. My objective is to test the waters, see how fun are jets... There are few instructions videos to sim WT because is a much lower playerbase...
      Thanks
      With best regards

    Minor correction to the Air Assault point: The Snail, in its infinite wisdom, has neglected to add any more brackets to the mode past br 6.3. So if you try the mode in your early gunfighter jet, you're going to be competing against your rank 7-8 teammates who are supersonic, and have BVR missiles, meaning you're not going to get any kills outside maybe the artillery waves.

    • @EATSxBABIES

      Addon, BR relative scoring is a thing there. A 6.7 jet earns score at about 13-1 compared to a 12.0 jet. Score is the majority factor in results there and you only need about 1200 points for a full reward.
      I have ground out many early jets there taking the easy W by just being smart. If Im in something too slow to chase the pack, I sit and wait near the next wave is most likely to spawn. I only need to secure about 9-14 kills to get the full reward on a win in early jets.

    • @FallenPhoenix86
      @FallenPhoenix86 10 місяців тому +19

      The flipside of that is that the low tier participants need to do very very little to rack up a high score vs the high tier participants that are getting virtually no points per kill.
      Used to be that individual score didn't matter as everything got averaged out accross the team at the end, not so anymore so this does matter.

      For clarification, air assault is not a mode to grind RP for lower jets. The main goal here is the same as the ground assault mode, complete all the waves with enough score to receive the full reward. Gaining the daily booster rewards and then going back to your normal grind.

    Another thing. When you play RB with props, you're used to climbing at around 300 kph/200mph. Don't climb with early jets. Get up to speed first. Those engines got more thrust the faster they went. So don't try to climb until you are at least at 700 kph/450 mph, or you will get some altitude but will be very slow.

    • @Wha2les

      @@Wha2lesyou'll lose some speed/thrust but as a whole you'll finish your climb faster than if you did the normal prop climb (plus the jet climb angle is much less steep, you normally won't be going past 10° anyway)

      @@Wha2les idk however high you want to, just as long as you can hold a decent speed (stop climbing after you slow down to 600-ish kph) after the climb because you'll never get the chance to get back up to speed without diving if you become too slow
      3km is probably a decent place to be at but again wherever you are after going to about 600 kph is where you're going to be stuck for a while anyway

    • @Ravnican127
      @Ravnican127 10 місяців тому +3

      @lionstar2222 to add to this, the stat card is actually your best friend for making this choice. Though you are correct about the actually max speed at a certain height being a bad idea at times, it will give you a very clear understanding of where your jet should fight. If the max speed says it is achieved "at sea level" climbing in any meaningful way only hurts your performance. Whereas a jet that shows max speed at an extremely high altitude will generally have better handling at these higher altitudes and suffer more from compression at lower levels. A classic case would be the mig-15 vs the vampire/venom.

This is why I prefer to use the things God so *graciously* blessed us with that He gave us two... my damn bloody eyes!
      If anything, it is much easier to identify planes by just looking at them, rather than wait for the big label and target marker over enemies. Fighter? Well, just know what fighter it is and don't die. Twin-engine fighter? Don't outrun him, turn and hope you get guns on him before he runs. Bomber? Number one rule is to not do more than one or two turns with the earliest jets in a turn fight. In early jets, turns bleed ridiculous amounts of energy so it is far better to go for small passes and loop over to make use of the better energy.

  • @jakobc.2558

    Your main advantage in a jet is high speed exceleration.
    Most props hit a wall at 500-600km/h where (in a streight line) they only excelerate like 1km/h per second. So as a rule of thunb when fighting props in a jet, try to stay above 600km/h.
    Also avoid being in a situation where a prop is above you. If you find yourself in such a situation, try to bleed the prop of it's energy by baiting it into diveing on you, then diveing yourself and then running away and climbing. Most high BR props have a higher dive top speed then your jets level flight top speed so don't think that you are safe just because you are going fast in a streight line.

    As someone with more than 20,000 Air RB kills, I'd agree positioning is important, probably the most important aspect of the game. You have to constantly 'read' the map and adjust your altitude, speed and location on the map. You should look at it as almost an aerial game of chess. Some people who say Air RB in props is boring are people who I think aren't actually playing the game properly. You are never just flying along waiting for something to happen. You should always be looking, judging, analysing, think where and when the enemy will appear. And end games with fewer players on the map. For me that's when the game really comes alive. When it's 2 v 3, or 4 v 4 or 1 v 3 that's when the real pilots prove themselves. There is nothing better than winning an extended 1 v 1 duel against another good pilot. Or helping a team mate in a 2 v 2 or 2 v 3.

    To go a bit deeper into the difference between a piston engine and a jet engine:
    A piston engine has its torque strictly based on its rpm, in a graph that kind of looks like a parabola, and since the throttle pretty much controls the rpm, the only real difference is that when you go from idle to max throttle your engine will be a bit slower to catch up at the very start and the very end of the rpm increase to max and a bit faster to catch up around the central / post-central part (depending on each engine), which is something you barely ever notice.
    A jet engine, on the other hand, is way more strictly based on speed (or rather on the square of the speed), which is also one of the reasons why there is a lot less to control in a jet engine then in a prop engine, if anything outside throttle can be controlled. So while the throttle still, in a way, controls rpm, your accelleration (and thus your kinetic energy retaining as well) will vary a lot, so you can immagine the graph of your accelleration as sort of like an S, where at low speed your accelleration will be low because the engine will have a low thrust, and as the speed increases, the accelleration increases esponentially, up to a point where it starts decreasing esponentially, because of the drag (which not only is dependent on the square of the speed, just like the thrust, but also at your speed relative to the speed of sound, so from mach 0.8 onwards the drag increases by A LOT, which is also where most early jets stop in horizontal movement for this exact reason). One thing to remember is that your plane will also FEEL heavier, in a way, not only because of the airframe itself, but also because the engines will, for the most part, now be on the back, though early jet engines weigh less then most late piston engines.

    I remember my first jet back then being the F9F-2 Panther. This was also the time back then in 2014, where you gravitated to transition to RB mode. A thing I especially needed to learn in a back then MiG-15bis dominating BR Zone was reversals. Reversals especially come into play when transitioning into RB. But once you actually swept the ground with 3 MiG-15s in the Panther, knowing you got closer to the Sabre it was a full seratonine boost.

    A small tips for people that want to play arcade at higher tiers : play not only in your regional server but also on the others ones (like the US one if you're european), it will dramaticly reduce the queue time, by increasing the pool of player you can play with. You can also do this for every games modes that got strong queue time. The main drawback is the ping that go past 100 when you're getting a game from a server far away, but honeslty, i didn't even feel it when i'm playing, and i prefer this small drawback to the Realistic Boring mode.

    Some of the less competitive jets can do surprisingly well in Ground RB. A lot of the players doing CAS in the area around the early jets really don't know how to properly fly their planes, or are too focused on attacking ground targets to pay proper attention. As a result, you can get in some good kills against planes that would normally eat you alive.

    The reason prop players go to Arcade over realistic, is more likely due to two facts:
    1-) The multiple respawns, usually allows players, that are still learning or aren't that good, a chance to do something on a match, the even if they get killed more often than they kill anyone, they would still have more chances to at least score a kill. On RB, with just one spawn, you will die before doing something for quite some time until you get used to game mode.
    2-) You can use your entire crew roster, so you can easily switch to the plane, or the role, you could get the most out of the match. It also helps grind and spade multiple planes at a time. Also attacking AI targets gives a somewhat more decent results than on RB matches, so if the player finds out that he/she can't kill the other players in the match due to skill or plane selection, he/she still can get some rewards by killing AI targets, or doing CAS.
    When I played Arcade more often than RB, many times my team lost or won, becase the mission objective was to destroy ground targets, and while most of the team was involved on the fur ball, threre was one or two loners bursting every tank, pill box, AAA, Howitzer, etc., to he point that the game ended even sooner than expected.
    I started in ARB because I liked laying bombers and they are insanely hard to gring upgrades on arcade, then one day I picked by first B-28 and played an ARB, could barely bomb one base before being intercepted and destroyed, but my team won and suddenly I had a lot more SP to upgrade the bombers.
    I became good enough playing bombers on ARB, to the point that I started playing Naval Battles to get the SL needed to buy the planes, tanks and thir upgrades. because even when I loose a Naval Arcade, if I get top 5-6 I get 100,000-150,000 SL, if my team wins it can easily get as high as to 250,000 SL per match with the right boosters. Naval RB offers better rewards, but the matches take too long and you have a way harder time hitting the enemy with the mode's aiming system, which sometimes leads you to have to aim, with the enemy out of your line of sight, which obviously leads to loads of misses, extending the engagements for far too long.
    I ended up loving Bkue Water Naval battles so much, and got all ships on the American Tech tree and almost all premiums way before I reached level V in Air and Ground Battles. I couldn't have a jet or an helicopters, but I already had all BR 7. 0 ships on Bkue Water Naval, which is the BR cap since I've got in the game.

    Very useful video. I've been taking a break from the game but where I left off, I was about to unlock the Vampire after a long arcade grind. The thought of having to spade it while having to play a gamemode I'm not familiar with, against (Probably spaded) enemy planes I don't recognise, and using a plane that plays fundamentally different to anything I've flown before... It's a bit daunting to say the least. Even more so with the game economy issues, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to upgrade and repair the plane.
    I forget exactly, but the SL cost of;
    1. Buying the rank 4 planes below it,
    2. Buying the Vampire itself,
    3. Crewing and experting the Vampire
    -Runs well into the millions

Once you get past a certain point in the tech trees (worse for major nations) you end up unlocking new vehicles and mods faster than you achieve income. It might not seem like the most fun playstyle in the world, but ground pounding in RB really becomes the best way to pad your SL if you find yourself in a hole.
      In other aspects, if you are flying RB, and struggling to make any headway in credits, you are doing something wrong with your gameplay. As stated in the video, checking your ego at the door and changing things up/seeking advice is really going to be your best option.

    I think what you said in closing is the most important. Most planes/jets can be good if you just stick with them and learn them enough. If you play a little bit of Sim I feel that helps too. You very quickly learn the ins and outs of an aircraft in Sim if you have the patience for it. What a plane does best, what speeds it does certain maneuvers best at, and even how to combat certain other planes that may have similar or different performance (Me 262 vs Me 163 for instance).

    I just had my first jet match and this guide was enormously helpful, and fun! I was so fast that I just ignored enemy planes turning into me, because I was in the F-84G, and I waited until I had so much speed that I could climb and maneuver with impunity. Watching people slowly give up on chasing me was hillarious!

    A tip for German grinders, get the me 163, it turns a lot like a prop, at jet speeds, and then play a jet from time to time. Won't get frustrated with the slugish early jet performance and you can still learn about jets in a rocket plane.

    A small note on what you said about arcade assault:
    If you're trying to grind mods while doing assault on higher tier jets, you'll get pitiful amounts of RP from planes because they're much lower rank than you. But ground targets are rankless and they'll give decent RP. Go hit the ground in that shiny rank 8, it'll be better research than eating entire waves of air.

    So I’m a PS5 player. Grinded thru props and I have a few jets. (F2H, F-84B-26, F9F Panther, F-98B (got it when it was on sale at -90%)).
    I just find realistic battles incredibly boring. You take ages to take off, fly, gain altitude and just die. I try my best for boom and zoom but aiming is basically impossible. Flight with a controller already is hard, but RB makes it basically impossible. I just get 1 shotted every time. It’s just not fun. I want to get to cool jets but the grind is just not fun when all you do is die.

    Arcade battles give way more money with the same KD. If you have a 1 kd in arcade you make genuine profit, unlike RB where you're broke with even a 2 kd. Not to mention you don't have to climb for 10 minutes at the start of every map 😐😐😒. Arcade battles make me wanna snap my legs off though because everyone gets respawns which means 20 people teleport on my 6 every 2 picoseconds.
