I'm shocked they lasted this long in San Francisco 😞
They had to pay 25 on duty SFPD officers to stand outside the store, that and all the lawsuits against them added to it.
Why? Under $950 is no consequence
and they want "reparations" ok looks like you got it already.
Macy's was there around 100 years. I bet the first 80 years was OK.
Union Square was one of the best shopping destinations in the the US. SF is run by bleeding heart morons. I lived there for 16 years, left in 2001. For the record, I'm a slightly left if center Democrat. The political scene I. San Francisco, is heavily dominated by left wing extremist wbackos, who take pride is their foolishness.
That was the centerpiece of Union Square. Doom Spiral continues...
When was the last time did you shop at Macys?
This is one of 150, calm down.
@@harlock75This is a huge flagship store that is the centerpiece of SF's main shopping/tourist plaza, not some anchor store in a shopping mall. It is a big deal. Think!
@@puffpuffin1 exactly. Harlock doesn't understand "urban blight"
This is fine... 🐕☕️🔥
@@harlock75 ...and look out and don't step in that pile of s**t on the sidewalk as you walk to your car that was just stolen.
Another one bites the dust.
When Jeffries Toy store closed, the whole of downtown SF is doomed...!!
Thank you Macy's for all the years of Christmas parades, and for being a great American retailer.
"You're Welcome!!" .....replied Bill....
How many more stores need to close before California government wake up .
Couldn't survive London Breed though...
So when is the tuneral?
They were thanked by sf with golden showers.
I worked in SF in the Union Square area, you can stand by the entrance of Macy and watch the shoplifters run out with goods, some get stopped by security but most get away, the police will not, cannot do anything.
Yet these last several months I've always seen an SFPD police vehicle and on-duty officers outside the store
they dont care if its parked there that means nothing@@greenelephant1231
Oh, right, this is Fox. Afraid of Newsom. If you were intelligent and aware, you would know that 80% of the surging retail theft in the United States today is inside jobs. Yes, the people who work in so many toxic stores are simply creating their own bonuses. Or maybe you are intelligent and aware - and Republican. Then you'd just blurt out the same nonsense.
All of it destroyed, all in order to show mercy to criminals of color.
I bet it is the minorities who they let get away.
San Fransicko has become one huge toilet.
Spoken like a true turd.

Back in the early 2000s I used to say, "The urine-soaked streets of San Francisco."
Should be re-branded as FLUSHING.
@@Qrayon Yeah, your phrase needs an update - #1 will now be joined with #2 - "The urine & s**t covered streets of San Francisco".
Can’t believe it lasted that long
Go figure, too many theft loss and insurance costs going up too much as well as operational cost increasing yearly.
Not to mention an extremely limited option of expensive clothing
No shocking to me
Well, if San Francisco cleaned up its act Macy wouldn't have closed.
Damn right!
Sighs. They are closing 150 stores nationwide. Do the math - it isnt crime.
@@UpUpDnDnLtRtLtRtBAStart I didn't say a damn thing about the other stores. I'm talking about San Francisco. Macy's Union Square is very popular and has been since Imagnin left. Macy's is the store that started the the extravagant Christmas store decorations on Union Square. The crime is out of control. How much money do you want them to loose? More stores will be leaving San Francisco. Pay attention.
@@englishgarden2036no one shops at Macy’s
I go to the CCF on the roof top during the holidays! 🎄🎉
Retailers are losing money in SF, cost of rents, higher labor cost for workforce, high retails theft, city WON'T do a GD thing about it. That is just the facts
They're closing 120 stores nationwide.
It has little to do with crime (I'm sure it factors in), and more to do with online e-commerce.
People just don't shop in stores anymore.
@@kewlztertc5386Do you think crime helps their business, is constant looting a good thing?
@@professorplums722 there's many things that hurt or doesn't help a business.
If shrinkage was the prevailing factor, they'd hire security and install preventative measures.
Consumer shopping isn't robust enough to justify continuing business in these locations.
There's many locations that are closing in non-metro areas that have very little shrinkage, so crime isn't the primary factor in closing these stores.
@@kewlztertc5386 they didn't release the list of where those 120 locations are closing because a majority of them are in California lmao. They don't wanna hurt yalls feelings and make you feel threatened in your "safe space"
@SamA-xq1bm there is a list.
A large number are in California. However, that's because California has the majority stores (89).
Many other states only have one or two stores, and soon will have none (0).
Don't worry about our feelings, even after the closures, California will still have more locations than any other state.
So sad what has happened to such a beautiful city
leftism happened...in a few years there will be on one left to pay taxes and it will look like the rust belt there
You get what you vote for, nothing more nothing less.
Sad for them to go but not unexpected. It going to take awhile for new tenant to take over the building.
Won't happen in this lifetime
So Macy’s, Nordstrom, Old Navy, GAP, McDonald’s, Nordstrom Rack, Adidas, have all closed within a 3 block radius in downtown SF.
And target
Welcome to the domino effect.
Please thank the mayor and police chief for their hard work.
SF is the new Detroit
Also thank the lunatic voters.
Everything woke turns to shyt
Pretty soon the only place left to loot will be the Amazon warehouse.
And those warehouses will be in a county where the Sheriff has no problems issuing CCWs.
Wow mayor Breed is shocked? She must have tucked her head under a rock.
She’s shocked it took this long is more like it.
Macys, Nordstrom, Gap, Old Navy, McDonald’s, Nordstrom Rack, AMC theater, basically the entire Westfield mall, Forever 21, …all within a 2-3 block radius have closed.
Ya kind of like when I'm shocked to step in poop when I visit SF
I worked in SF from 1981-85 near Macy's often bought items at Macy's. I remember when The Emporium was there on Market between 4th and 4th St I also recall Macy 2's across the street from the Flagship store. I remember a lot of details about the interior of the main store, like older service elevators with glass doors. Woolworth's was another staple on Powell and Market. It's sad all these retailers are closing up Old Navy, and the stores inside the complex within the Powell St. Bart Station.
And SF still says crime is down this year and not a factor.
😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
No arrest no crime! see its simple
They also say there is no exit flood of people leaving San Francisco. I can't hear it too loud anymore, we left in 2018.

Walgreens just announced they are shutting down downtown store too. The ring of burglars can close in on them for one final feast
i don't remember when was the last time I bought something from downtown Macy's.
Who in the right mind would open a store in San Francisco to get looted everyday.
How do you walk around during the day scared of your own shadow? Typical idiot statement enjoyed by all of us here on this putrid KPIX YT channel.
When was Macy's looted?
@028 shoplifters steal every day, they just take the goods and walk away. Police doesn't do anything. They don't even respond to calls about it. Some people steal every day and police still doesn't care at all. If its one shoplifter after another instead of mass gang robbery it doesn't mean crime isn't happening. Too much criminals in SF without punishment
@sneat2028 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 dreamer.
Shoplifters literally steal on average every 15 minutes out of there. There are as many people stealing as there are shopping. Why else is downtown empty of retail and Walgreens literally has the entire store behind plexiglass?
myor is not shocked
In a week she'll forget about it.
She does seem to have the idiot look on her face all the time....right?
RIP San Franciso.
Use to shop at Nordstroms & Macy's in downtown SF and also the Macy's at Serramonte in Daly City. Too bad so many top retailers are closing up and leaving San Francisco!!!!!
Lets see how long they could hold on before closing the store, it may not be easy to find a buyer for that building with the decline in commercial real estate. I hate to see them go.
Damn how sad. I remember the glory days going to Fresh Choice in the basement food hall after a 8 hour shopping spree.
There was a Mama's in the Cellar, where they sold cookware. Old timers will remember Blum's. What a magical city SF once was.
Welcome to Detroit!
I lived in SF and Detroit. I can't believe what has happened to San Francisco since I was there 8 years ago. Meanwhile, Detroit's central business district and surrounding area has been on a major rebound, although other sections of the city leave much to be desired. Oh, well, Rome wasn't built in a day, and it will take a lot longer to rebuild Detroit. With new and dynamic leadership, SF will snap back sooner.
Nobody's gonna lease that building. It'll probably be a migrant shelter.
The former Macy’s across the street can’t even find a tenant and that’s a brand new renovation.
city leaders 'shocked' - illustrates the denial.
My family and friends stop spending money in SF. We rather go farther for good food and shoppings.
We would rather drive away from San Francisco to shop. Why risk getting robbed or car jacked? The chance of having your car broken into is very high. Not to mention the traffic, homeless and cost of parking.
No one wants to spend $5 a gallon for gas, pay $8 for toll, then spend another $25 to park… and the moment you step out of your car.. all you smell is urine.
You go out and shop or eat and pay surcharges on your food bill just to come back to your car that has a 50/50 chance of having its window busted out and the inside ransacked.
Yes… the SF shopping experience, brought to you by. London Breed. Thank you! Come again!
Wow! I worked @ that store almost 30 years ago..
I don't go to San Francisco anymore.
I parked at Glen Park BART station and they broke into my car
Anybody that denies that Crime/Homeless have anything to do with this are delusional
Who wants to go to an area where you worried about security
Meanwhile, the stores in South Bay are seeing plenty of business
So you crime deniers are delusional

NOT TRUE. All the NGO and nonprofits still have an excuse to operate and request funding for there useless programs to keep running. Those running the NGO and non profits need to keep their $120k salaries, so Union Square still has a use to keep all the meth junkies on full display to keep the NGOs a reason to continue to be funded. $

What about the 120 cities, are they in denial too?
@@kewlztertc5386 I'm not talking about the 120 other cities. I'm talking about San Francisco. How many more businesses have to leave before they realize that corporations and people have other choices?
@@GentiluomoStraniero that may be true, but this business (Macy's) cannot be used as a consideration in that because they're closing stores around the country.
Meaning even if SF was a perfect haven of a city, theyd still be closing this store.
Most retailers are having a hard time competing with online commerce.
@@kewlztertc5386 i don't buy your hypothesis. The stores that underperform are the ones that get closed. consolidation to avoid bankruptcy.
Defund the police and soft on crime policies. How's that working out for you?
What did they THINK was going to happen? We left in 2018.
Like the 9ers, SF is imploding in itself.
That’s what happens if you have incompetent mayor.
Didn’t know they were still down there.... I haven’t purchased anything there since the 1900s.....
I knew a woman who was a manager of Macy's Hilltop, Richmond. The perpetual refolding of slacks, shirts, etc made her throw in the towel. Compound that trend with flashmob robberies, the end is inevitable.
Macy's Union Square was immortalized in Robert Stone's Dog Soldiers. John Converse ducks into that labyrinth to ditch his pursuers. No doubt Willie Brown and Herb Caen have ducked in to get out of a downpour, or to decide to go up to Wilkes Bashford, or off to the Washbag. Shame!
Thank you petty theft decriminalization
Thanks to Pelosi, nephew Gavin and Breed

Lol shocked Pikachu face how much they lose from shoplifting
Bad politics and to much crime.maybe people will get rid of the poor politicians that have destroyed the city.when I was young we would always eat at the rooftop Cheesecake Factory I won’t even go near there anymore
Dems are the only parry that run for office in SF - actually, the entire Bay Area. The GOP gave up in this area. Every single city in the 9 county bay area is run by Dems, so don't expect any change. SF will have to resort to doubling or tripling parking fines and bridge tolls to make ends meet.
