Kenmore washers are made by Wirlpool the reason for the same sound we had a 1978 Kenmore that made the same sound the best way to discribe that sound woo woo.
Christopher Murray I don’t look at people that way. We all have an interest and enjoy our vintage machines and that’s what we should leave it at. Again good luck with that I’m sure it’s gonna last for years
After all the water is drained out-and the pump starts to suck air-until it makes that rhythmic cavitation sound-that is what I meant by pulsating breathing.
Sweet deal! It made the trip no problem! Looks like a lot of work setting all that up, but now that it's in, it will be years and years of trouble-free washing! I've always heard to glue both pieces with PVC. Home Depot sells a "Y" adapter that's just what you need for the water connections on the back of the washer. www.homedepot.com/p/BrassCraft-3-4-in-Female-Hose-Thread-x-3-4-in-Male-Hose-Thread-x-12-in-Reinforced-Rubber-Washing-Machine-Y-Mixer-Fill-Hose-BC2454/205488891 Just out of curiosity, what's the red liquid in the gallon jug?
Bluethunderboom it had issues. I had replaced the gearcase the clutch the motor coupling but it still didn't spin right and I think the tub was rusting out cause I started seeing rusted prices of metal in the tub.
For my 2009 Admiral Whirlpool Direct Drive TLW, it has different problems, it had trouble to agitate the clothes, and the tub and agitator was spinning at the counterclockwise and it drained and spin just fine not what washing the clothes like it suppose to, and I think it has to do with the worn out gear case, so I can't afford to replace the gear case assembly other than to get another Direct Drive TLW by Whirlpool the vintage ones or the 2011 model. What I will do is I will salvage the components before send it to scrap metal. I mean it happens it's part of the wear & tear, and it last almost nine years until the gear case is having a problem. It really does gives me tears to my eyes seeing this washer going to the scrap metal company and end up sticking with the stupid High Efficiency TLW, and I told myself, "If I could be able to afford to repair the 2009 Admiral Whirlpool Direct Drive TLW, then I can get this washer going."
Cool vintage box fans!
My late Grandma had a 1971 Kenmore washer that did that after all the water was drained out. Cool sound!

An amazing piece of washing hardware.
Man I wish I can find one like that now! My Dear Momma has a mid 70s year with the Black Surgilator Agitator
Man I sure wish I could have one of these, they seem really cool
I can't wait to see the washday wash-in with the 1981 Whirlpool Washer.
Congrats you did a great job looks good there. The hot water heater is a great idea have to run some piping and get those hoses. Best of luck.

jaykay18 RV antifreeze.
Does this washer do the pulsating breathing?
You mean those "burps" the norge washers did? No. if you mean automatic temperature control where it pulses between hot and cold? Also no.
What's wrong with Whirlpool Imperial Washer, was the parts starting to fail? =/
