Mike, you might want to take another look at the ownership fight, Glenn claims that Alex and Mark didn't follow the contract and Alex and Mark say something different. There is quite the legal battle that's happening. And there are rumors that Glenn Taylor wants to back out of the contract because due to the emergence of Anthony Edwards, The team is now worth somewhere along the lines of 2.5 billion and so Glenn could resell the team for an extra billion dollars, just some food for thought

Idiots really forget or don't understand that in basketball matchups matter more than any other major pro sport. T-wolves were able to beat the nuggets because they have two good bigs. Matching up well against them. And having a bad matchup with Dallas. If they would played okc they would have had a better matchup. Also the west having a much harder path so often, has always made it harder for west teams to win the championship.
It's true, but it still doesn't solve the money problem... Getting 2-3 first round draft picks, plus maybe a potential good player, can set up a perpetual playoff kind of team. When we had Garnett, and no follow up first round picks, he just left in the end. It didn't pan out well. The same will happen to Edwards if we don't have a long term vision...
Match ups is key without a doubt 100%, but you have to factor in Jamal Murray was playing with a sprained ankle and was pretty much worthless in the 2nd round. Look at MPJ as well who basically had his entire family falling apart, from one brother being booted outta the NBA to the other killing a dude while driving drunk. Denver(outside of Jokic)was in a bad way this past post season and looked it. Still Minny matches up well even with a healthy refreshed Nuggs and may have the advantage as Denver lost KCP who was a key defender for the Nuggets. Gonna be interesting 2024/25 season for sure.

I understand that they probably could improve, but the fact of the matter is besides game 5 they lost the other three games in the conference finals by like a combined 10 points, and their stars played like shit. Some more shots fall and we could be talking about this team very differently, trading away one of their starters isn’t the move imo

A GM’s job is to trade a key asset while the player’s value is high on the market. For example, the Bulls should have gotten rid of Lavine a few years ago. Now it kinda makes since to keep him (because of Josh Giddey).

Rudy averages 14, that’s not bad for someone who doesn’t shoot. He’s a defensive guy. What do you think about Jaden then? He was absolutely garbage on offense. He literally had the worst shooting percentage in the 4th out of any starter in the league. Kat wasn’t reliable when shooting. We keep both and run it back, try to get a PG that’s not 5-8.

The only legitimate trade I could see to make the Timberwolves better would be if the Pelicans get frustrated with Zion's lack of effort and deal him for like KAT and maybe a first or two. It makes sense for the Timberwolves, you can compare it to a Shaq situation where having a guy who is all effort (Edwards) motivates him to actually make a change. Doesn't make a ton of sense for New Orleans since he's supposed to be the guy you're building around and is an easy potential top 5 player. So again not a super realistic scenario.

Matchups matter a lot in Basketball.
Minnesota build a team that's uniquely good against Centers Seeing as the Bucks and Nuggets as the teams to beat. This left them more exposed against teams that have really good Guards and shooters. Mavericks were basically their nightmare matchup.
There's no foolproof tactic. If you trade KAT or Gobert for a guard and some role players you may get destroyed by the Nuggets next year.
Wolves would have probably done better against the Celtics than the Mavs did as well. Celtics are extremely well rounded but Wolves had some good matchups.

Draft picks and minimum veterans are more valuable asset than any max player with the new CBA.

The knicks would be adding first round picks, not the Wolves. Divincenzo isn't starting caliber, and The Wolves already have enough bench pieces. Og wouldn't be able to start because of McDaniels, and Naz, so that wouldn't be worth it either. Also Neither Divincenzo, or Og would be making enough money for the salaries to work, so the knicks would have to add more players.

Your content is a little misleading - the new CBA doesn’t begin until July 1, 2024. So when you talk about the Caruso/Giddey trade being made under the new CBA, that’s misleading. Everyone is complaining about that trade because Chicago could have got some draft picks, but OKC wanted to get rid of Giddey before it became harder to trade him.
You’ll most likely see more trades BEFORE July 1st so teams can escape some of the strict rules of the new CBA.
It would do you well to follow someone like Bobby Marks AND listen to what he says carefully.

Mike, did you not see Luka drill not 1 but two game winning shots by switching off on Golbert? Towns issues can be fixed just like Tatem this season, he just needs to learn when the 3 isn't falling to use his skills to get in the paint and either dish to his team mates or score easy baskets, Golbert on the other hand is and always will be a limited Center that is a liability against superior talent.
KAT is such a disappointment.
