Catching Fish With BIG Cicadas! - Fly Fishing Travel Vlog
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 сер 2024
- In this Fly Fishing Travel vlog, Cheech and Curtis head up to one of our favorite reservoirs to throw some big dry flies! Stillwater fly fishing is fun but it is way more fun when the fish are willing to eat huge flies on the surface of the water. Summer time is Cicada time and there is nothing like watching a trout eat a Cicada pattern and having enough patience to set the hook as the fish turns away with you fly in its mouth.

Really enjoyed the format. Love seeing you guys together on the water. Tied a pile of pinecone cicadas, finally fished them a few days ago in Illinois. Bluegill and Bass couldn't help themselves. Thank you for all you do.
Yes seeing how to fish those fly and explaining and I really like how it was mentioned that we could buy it or tie it and where I could get information.
What a blast... looked so fun
Awesome Cheech and Curtis 👍👍👍 🇺🇸 🗽 🇺🇸🎏 🎏 keep up the Great fishing 🎣 Great footage !!
good luck too all on the water 👍

Appreciate the format!
Hah! Doge loves fishing as much as the crew!
You guys are killing it! Fry with the fly!
Wondering if you guys have ever thought of opening a second shop? I live up in Ogden, and would love to be able to have a shop closer to me. In addition, I know of a few guys, myself included, that would jump to be able to work for you guys.
Excellent as always. Utah must be the mecca of fly fishing with cicadas!
We don't have cicadas up here in Alberta, I think the closest thing we have to this type of fishing is the Backswimmer flights in the fall and it's a riot!
Hello guys! Great fishing action! Haven´t fish a cicada hatch...
I remember being on the Green for a Cicada hatch , wow
Great day!!! Not that we don’t like you guys and your humor but where has Lance been? Secure location?? No tying vids, no on stream vids?? What the heck??? Asking for a friend.. thanks
He was on the podcast, but I agree. Time for a wellness check
He’s locked up underneath the shop🥶
They're probably tired of always hearing "hey, that's Lance Egan right there" everywhere they go with him
Just want to clarify - the link to your "Custom stillwater leader setup" shows the entire leader made of fluoro - even the butt section - which is really interesting. I use fluoro for my tippet sections when fishing dry, but the only time I've used an entire leader of fluoro in stillwater is to fish subsurface. What are the benefits of using fluoro for the entire leader? Great video!
awesome vid
Do you think project cicada would work as good in brown or green? Or on the Provo?
Yeah for sure. We use it everywhere.
How are you attaching your leader to your fly line. Are you using the loop to loop?
We prefer to cut the welded loop off the fly line and connect the leader butt section with a nail knot. The nail knot moves through the guides of the fly rod much easier than a loop to loop connection. It is pretty important when fishing long stillwater setups in order to net a fish. Or in case a fish gets a burst of energy at the last second, the nail knot will just glide through the guides.
Is Squatch a Griffon or a Spinoni?
She’s a Griff
How long ago was this bite?
What weight R8 were you fishing? What type line? Thank you.
We were throwing the R8 10’ 0” - 6 wt. With the Scientific Anglers - Amplitude MPX line.
