Still one of the best and thorough Macan review vids out there! Thanks. At 6:43 you state that the intakes are closed or fake. Odd, because the intercooler for the turbo charged air sit behind that opening. Then this will apply to the petrol models only, they also show the Y-pipe where the charged air is being led to the engine, where as the diesel doesn't show that same pipe.
your comments on the interior dash being inferior to the Audi are off, but thats your opinion. I just test drove a S Q5, its competition and then jumped into a Macan and I will say that the fit and finish of the Porsche is by far of higher quality and a nicer esthetic. As a matter of fact, in the Porsche you can have all the dash trim optioned in leather and the Audi you cannot. Anyway, just my opinion.
No Problem. I've watched a couple of your reviews on cars Im interested in purchasing as I have a lease coming due and they are very thorough and quite detailed and extensive. Keep up the good work. Maybe I didn't see it on your list but a BMW X5 4.4 liter would be nice to hear your feedback on. Cheers
Yes, all of the buttons to the normal eye does look intimidating and excessive, however once you get used to it all of the buttons make since and are sensibly placed.
Zachary Ong Hi! Did you check out our video of the SQ5 yet? We had exactly that one, a couple of month ago. I can tell you: They do not feel like the same cars. The Porsche offers less space inside and more offers this true cockpit feeling. The SQ5 feels heavier. Overall, both great cars, the SQ5 will be a lot cheaper though. In my personal opinion, I would go for the normal Q5, as the SQ5 can be a littel bit rough suspension wise.
Great Review, I'm of the opinion form follows function, meaning for example the fake front air dam inlets should either be real and functioning or not be there.I agree to many buttons on center console area , i think they could be down sized into multi-control buttons or included in the MMC or display screen .The fuel consumption should be better . Over all the vehicle is appreciated for what it is , but for the price could be much better. The off road function is just marketing hype , its not really a true off road machine and agree over 90% will never use it in that manner. I think a dif engine choice to better fuel economy would serve it well. If you want performance just get a 911 other wise get a sedan or wagon or true off road vehicle . Thanks Joe
Hi Joe, I agree with your comment re. form following function, however I don't agree about the buttons. Most people who use computers in an every day/power user situation use keyboard shortcuts. Why? Because it's faster & more intuative. iDrive and similar MMI interfaces are not a great way of keeping the drivers focus on the road. Porsche does use the steering wheel buttons for higher level display information/options but gives you immidiate buttons for needed everyday options. The only reason I can think of other manufacturers not doing the same is due to cost. Most of the buttons are laid out very clearly/logicaly...the exception being the off road & hill decent buttons which strangely occupy different post codes! :-) The fuel consumtion given by many Macan UK forum members is around 42-43mpg..I don't think that's bad for a 2 ton SUV hitting 60mph in 6 seconds! I do agree that it's not a sports car but for a car that can get you over badly pot holed/flooded roads it drives way closer to one than any SUV has a right to..and that's the reason I've got one on order. I apologise for a little bias! :-)
***** S Diesel, in Sapphire Blue with the same 20 in RS Spyder wheels as shown in your test (Porsche engineer's reccomended wheel size for best handling) which is my favourite wheel. I have a November build slot so am getting quite excited! :-) I enjoyed your review...nicely detailed. It's been pointed out that the Audi engine in this model is now producing 272 BHP in the Audi line-up. Do you know if this power upgrade will be available as a simple re-map for the Macan or have the engine internals been modified? Thanks! :-)
if you don't have money for all options your porsche inside will look cheap with all this non-buttons. thats why i don't like it. i think audi's bmw's and mercedes's cabins look better.

I love listening to this guy do reviews. I'd love to get my hands on a Macan S here in the states.

Marc Cosgrove Thanks for the feedback. You got a point there! However, I dont quite like the button-gathering in the Porsche dash

Lovely crossover! Seems like a fancier sportier Q5. How does it compared to the SQ5?

TechExplorer Thanks for the thoughts, you just can underpin that.

Nice review but the sound is way too low at times, when the camera is too far away, which makes it hard to follow.
Hector Rodriguez Canda Hey Hector, we had some battery failure so we had to take a replacement camera for some shots sorry :)

What was the beeping during your test drive while you were talking about the Quattro system? And where is the spare tire??
Spare tyre is an option...and fits where the Bose/Burmeister subs sit...so you can't have subs & a spare.
skychef69 I wondered about the beep as well. We are trying to think about it what it could have been.
Warum macht ihr keine Videos in Deutsch? :(
did you just say that Audi has a better interior...?
Alfa Romeo Stelvio Ti Sport and Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio all day long over this GLORIFIED VW !!!!
