  • In this video I get a lot done and have to redo part of it. But I got the cottage log retaining wall done, I got the rustic cottage arbor done and started the charming cottage fence.

Hi I'm Brian with Next Level Homestead. If this is your first time here... welcome! I'm glad you're here! If you're a longtime friend, welcome back!!
For most of my life I was a city boy, gardening in the suburbs. I was the first generation in my family to not grow up on a farm and somehow it was still there inside me. So now my wife Emilie, son Noah and I have moved to a small farm (at least it will be) and we're documenting our journey on this channel. Building gardens and chicken coops, buying a dairy cow and who knows what else lies in store. But we can't wait to take you with us!

I just realized what I like about your channel. Well, there are many things I like but right now there's a particular thing I would like to say. You guys are easy to follow. I know the land isn't as large as you would like, but I find it perfect for your channel. The scenery is beautiful! Your projects are not humongous and are easy to learn from and enjoy. You don't have a million animals to care for. For an anxious introvert like myself it's just enough chores and work to get me inspired. So, thank you both for being such a wonderful family with the courage to do what you do.

Don't you just love spending a day working hard, getting dirty and sweating but at the conclusion of it all standing back and marveling at the beauty your effort created? There is immense satisfaction and motivation for me in doing projects like that .... both things I want and need more of. LOL Great job!

  • @Peachy08

Oh, but chickens are cute! I can sit and watch their fluffy butts walk around all day😅

  • @dottiegiudice7960

Rustic & free, the perfect combo. I'm sure it will be be beautiful someday.

Ah, the CowCam. Could even be a Daisy Dashcam! LOL

When my daughter got married in the '90s, she and her husband bought a beautiful arbor for them to stand at for the ceremony and to give to me for my garden when the party was over. It was covered in flowers in no time, and after the first year, you could barely discern what the arbor itself might look like because the flowers stole the show. Your rustic (and FREE) arbor is lovely, but take pictures now or you won't remember what it looked like. 🥀🌺

Your content makes my heart happy. That trellis looks great. I am about to start a new garden in a new climate, so will be concentrating on functionality my first year. Your channel feeds my need for beauty, cost savings always rocks my world as a single mom. Your channel gets the creative part of me excited for the future, while also keeping the information stream coming. Thank you! ❤

I love the tomato contest, great idea. The usage of wood you already have is marvelous.Everything is looking good.

I always marvel at the way you picture the designs you want to make and what to use, like the log retaining wall & the arbor and when completed it’s almost like magic because it turns out almost always the way you planned. It’s beautiful. Well done! Can’t wait to see the roses on the arbor blooming. 🌹🌹 I notice some little or big gardening tip that I can use to help me garden better from almost every video. Thanks so much, Brian. 👍. Many blessings for a safe & restful weekend

Oh that's going to be nice. And it will be a 'finished' area - as much as gardens are ever finished! LOL. yeah, I think your perspective is spot on. you know how bougainvilleas can get MASSIVE? The rose covering that arbor will look like that if the height is a bit off. It is a great joy to see this all develop. SO much hard work but so very much beauty. And the person who commented earlier about the views is spot on. Anyone who could dig and walk and work and not stop to enjoy all that around you is totally missing out. You chose a beautiful spot.

We think our chickens are just as cute as our other cuties. They each have their own personalities. They’re awesome.

My layered pot with tulips on the bottom with daffodils on top, the daffodils are poking through!! Great idea poking the egg whites to cook faster because I like my yolks runny too!! Thanks! My husband is building our chicken coop and run but nothing like your gorgeous cottage. I hope to make it cute though. My husband builds fences on the regular. He always paints tar on the ends and just above the soil line. They won’t rot.

The best part of this video has to be the transformation of the cottage garden with the addition of the log retaining wall, rustic arbor, and the start of the charming cottage fence. It's incredible to see how these elements bring the garden together, adding both functionality and aesthetic appeal. Plus, the anticipation of the arbor being covered in roses in a few months adds an exciting future element to look forward to. Great work on the garden, and I can't wait to see the fence completed!

  • @purplewombat1923

I like the arbour and fence. It looks great and I love that you are re-using branches from your property :-D

  • @shadytreez

A day off is important. The pork cereal looked great! I make my own sausage patties and didn't have pork, so I used ground beef, and it tasted almost the same! The key was ground fennel and fresh sage.

  • @lindag4484

I love the arbor and fence. It is rustic and charming. I agree with @bonniebell1104. I think your land is a perfect, manageable, size and it is beautiful. Even when your gardens are 'finished' (though they really never are) I know you will be adding to, subtracting from, and tweaking them for a long time. It's in your DNA. Even the 'Italian Cypress' trees in the distance add to the look of the whole area. It's all really beautiful. ...hmm, patiently waiting for the new critters.

I love watching Chad! Can't wait to watch this challenge!!!

Growing grass for a lawn... I bought a house in central Texas. I refused to water the lawn. "If it can't survive Texas summer without being watered, it doesn't need tobe in a Texas lawn." 2 years I had a brown lawn... 3rd, the native grasses took over and I had a green lawn all year for the next 16 years.
