Connecting Generations in the LGBT Community

The Connecting Generations Program at the William Way Community Center fosters connections between LGBT people across generations and provides opportunities for meaningful, mentoring interactions for younger and older LGBT people. Participants get together at least twice a month for friendly conversation, trips to local attractions, or any number of activities that may interest both participants. Volunteer Bill Pelle shares his experiences with the Connecting Generations program and his elderly companion. After the death of his mother and partner, Bill decided that he wanted to reach out and give back to his community to both alleviate his own new found loneliness and to offer company and solace to an elderly LGBT individual.
