I have a 7" of this by The Tartan Horde! I'm listening to it right now and I can hear it's Nick! The song writing credits are for a Terry Modern for A Modern Boy Productions and it's on United Artists (UA 35 891A). It's made in Germany and on the inner groove is carved PURE PLASTIC....
I found a radio station copy of this song at the local college record sale for funding their station. I loved this song. Unfortunately vinyl of the 70s warped in your car!
Love “Roller Show” off Pure Pop for Now People. Or Jesus of Cool if you like. It sounds just like BCR. All of the world’s problems could be solved because, “We’re gonna see Woody onstage tonight.”
I met The Bay City Rollers when I was in the studio writing a song for Mandrill (The song became a hit, by the way), and I told one of the guys in the band, "You guys know that your tee shirts and merchandise are being bootlegged all over the place don't you?" and he replied "Well, they've (the bootleggers) got to make a living too."
An amazing voice singing a beautiful song ❤❤
This proves that Nick Lowe couldn't write a bad song if he tried.

This one and Rollers Show are classics
Ha ha - this made my day. Thank you so much ! Nick is just great.
I love this man.
It's a real-life version of "The Producers".
Two different songs. This one was the first, and Rollers Show was the follow up.The song Nick is talking about is on his album 'The Wilderness Years'
This is fantastic! Nick is so funny. I've never heard this version, so thank you! I only know Rollers Show from Pure Pop For Now People.
Rollers Show was the follow up single. The first one is readily available on UA-cam.There are two versions, one with a verse missing.
And all this time I thought he was being sincere!

One of the best song writers of all time banging on an out of tune Gibson....chezzz
@Johnnyloo64 Haha, same here, never really listened to the lyrics but the chorus is so catchy its still my favorite track off the record
love it nutter
Nick mutters the "g" word twice in this interview. ROTF!!
He's gotta be cruel to be kind
This is about a different tune than Rollers Show?
Nick The Knife messed up the words!! Utterly ghastly...
"Oh no I can't remember the chords...pretty complex." Actullay a great song if only with "real" lyrics and a rough sound. Try again, Nick!
Only Japanese schoolgirls would like that song. Well produced and well written song though!
I'm Dutch and like this very much.
Nice guitar. Too bad it was horribly out of tune.
Masters of lovers songs .. our style of music.. it is true?
