6:02:46 I decided to play this hack for myself and found a repeating hallway with toads every few rooms that said this same thing. The textures got darker the farther I got through the hallway. At the end was a pitch black room with a faceless toad, I hoped he had a star for me... but as I approached the screen focused on one of those throwing enemies but his entire texture was toad's face and the emulator crashed...
"In my restless dreams, I see that castle, Castle Toadstool, you promised you take me back there one day, but you never did... well I'm there now, and I've baked you a cake in our special place, I'm waiting for you."
If I remember right, there was a planned ending that fell through, which would have revealed that the Princess in this game was an avatar of the Personalization AI, and has sent countless other Marios on the same doomed errand, which is where all the faceless Marios came from. I'm kind of okay this isn't canon- would have been too "schlocky fanfiction" for this game, but it really makes you think...

There’s something infinitely more haunting about the owner of the castle being ousted similar to the OG game, but cranked up to scarier levels by her just outright not existing or being dead. At least Bowser kept her alive, but the personalization AI didn’t. It’s made scarier with the idea that the whole goal of the story is to save Peach, but you cannot save her. It’s an empty castle without its owner, and the entire reason you’re supposed to be fighting is gone.
This mod is genuinely so cool. It takes such a bright and vibrant super Mario 64 and just flips it upside down its head. Also it’s scary asf, it’s such a cool project for a Mario game.

You should definitely check out some of the songs from the b3313 ost my favorite track is wet dry docks which is a mashup of dire dire docks and wet dry world.
M1 on the live counter is caused by dying in the hub world(s). (the ''M'' standing for Minus ''-'' ) the game doesn't really know how to handle that as the player isn't ment to die in said hub world, so when the player's life count is at 0, the game gets ''confused'' and goes into the negative life count instead of giving you a game over. (basically an infinite life's glitch) this bug can also be triggered on the DS version of the game.
Sidenote: this video is doin' numbers. While I understand that you don't like to do sequel streams, it could be nice as a members-only stream, because, like you said, you haven't even scratched even half of the surface. You've been to a good chunk of the lobbies (albeit some you haven't fully explored, like the Nebula Lobby, imo the best area) but there's plenty to see in most of the levels, including more spoopy moments. It'd certainly get me to buy a membership, lmao. I'd say this is your best stream yet. But ultimately, it's all up to you. I'd honored to flex more B3313 knowledge and trivia again sometime.

I believe the overarching sudo story in the hack is based around beta/creepypasta ish thing of super mario 64 was originally meant to much larger and more impressive (somewhat true bc of all the unused stuff) and it ties into the "every copy of mario 64 is personalized" with nintendo developed an A.I. that would "personalize" your copy with presedural generated levels etc, but it was...unstable..which is why you see stuff like the polygonal chaos area and the A.I. core itself is the blue, green cube thing you found, with the message "Destroy It" flashing before the ai created the creepy missing textured mario to crash the game before you could harm.
Basically, this hack is super mario 64 but if it was being developed in real time by a somewhat self aware algorithm; Intended to give players the perfect fun and "dream like" experience...but with all the drawbacks and caveats of dreams/nightmares ha. "Haven't you ever wished you could play your favorite nostalgic video game endlessly?...."
This was an absolutely phenomenal stream! I really enjoyed watching this today. This game is such a rarity in terms of atmosphere - one that I crave to see more of!!! Thanks guys (: (But also, that peach calling to Mario room though? Piss off game that made me so uncomfortable.)
I know I mentioned this during the stream in one of my several super chats early on, but I honestly find this hack more comforting than off-putting... though I suspect I'm in the minority on that one 😅 I personally enjoy wandering around huge games and finding neat stuff, and this is essentially that but in Mario 64, which is already one of my comfort games and one I inherently enjoy playing around with. And unlike SM64 where I know everything like the back of my hand, there's always something new and exciting to find around every corner; it really feels like I'm playing SM64 for the first time again, and the occasional vibe shifts and spooky moments help keep things fresh, even if I am kinda desensitized to them. I also like exploring beta/unused content in general, so that definitely helps too. I guess if there was a copy of SM64 personalized just for me, it wouldn't be very far off from this. B3313 is easily my favorite ROM hack, and this is coming from someone who's generally terrible at picking favorites lmao. Also, definitely try playing this on a CRT, it is an absolute VIBE. One highlight from my playthrough so far is when I found a goofy slide level with a bunch of Heave-Ho's littered all over it with the Slider music playing in minor key in the background. That level got a good laugh out of me and I somehow beat it first try despite it basically being the 3D equivalent of a Mario Maker troll level. Also, my good friend FluffaMario contributed some models to this hack! Just wanted to take this opportunity to give him a shoutout.
Fun fact that I love about this romhack but Shadow Mario Is hidden through several levels (both normal and scary levels) and wont attack you unless you notice him, so my surprised when the very last level you avoided (Motos Factory) was one of them and you just avoid It by accident was amazing lmao

Phisnom the sonic vs mario death battle was mid tbh, as it never gave us the true potential of the 2, they instead nerfed sonic to the ground and made him speed of sound, and mario they highballed him with terrible feats. It wasn't funny too, it was just "sonic bad haha please laugh"
