If you want to know. The MPC was used typically, and you just turn up the swing >60% until you get the right feel. Triplets were not used at all. You could also do it in Logic Creator on the Atari. If you don't trust me, ask Teddy Riley. 😉
Thanks for sharing this. Love the way you mix your drums and the drum machines you have picked from 👌 You inspired me to put in the work to sort through my sample collection and make a "best of".
Best tutorial yet, don't know how I missed it until now. I just finished my analog rack and inherited an Ensoniq SQ-80. I was looking for some inspiration and found this great video to point me in the right direction. Thanks for another great video!
I'd be interested to watch you make a drum beat where there are kicks snares and hats on a straight beat but some on Triplets with just a global shuffle.
@@SunglassesKidMusic As soon as I saw the filenames, I knew these were custom sounds. There are some nice drum sounds out there but nothing that sounds that good out of the box.
@@jonntobin8523 You do realize that even if he told you what he was using, he also mentioned in the comments that these are his "OWN CUSTOM SOUNDS!" So non of us can actually get these exact sounds unless he decides to give them out.
Well yes you can add the "swing" by introducing it that way but I think writing in triplets is also the key. Perhaps you can link me to the tutorial you made that corrects me on how to write new jack swing?
mmmmm this sound is actually pre new jack... transicitional, not 90s yet. I really looooove it but new jack brought "the future" and brought the new technology and the hip hop samples too :D
This type of music should be popular again!! I love the beat you did. Keep making this type of video
step 1, have flawless 80's snare
Thank you for clearly explaining what I've been searching all over the interwebs for - "it's in the triplets."
Holy Crap I can’t believe what I’m hearing. You never cease to amaze me. This track is just perfect. Can’t wait to hear more new jack in the future :)

Sounds like a bobby brown track
Epic just needed some orch stabs.
u had forgot the salt in your recip. its newjack ( Swing) and there is 0% swing its sound robot because u didnt put the swing at 65%

If you set the grid to triplets like he did in the video, you get 66% swing. So in fact his track has 1% MORE swing than you're recommending. 😂

yep yeeeep
No such thing as "Bruno Mars" style...stop it...it's been created and done by someone other than him. Lol... he's not the creator.
More like Teddy Riley style aka the creator and godfather of this genre.
