Thanks for the video. I’ll be putting in 2-3 inspection ports in a ‘78 minifish I recently bought and I’m trying to avoid hitting foam. This helps see where the foam blocks might be. The seller told me the hull didn’t take on any water… after my first trip out there was so much water inside I couldn’t believe it still floated.
That's awesome! I'm going to pick up a 14 ft sunfish tommorow that I'm going to convert it into a small skiff/ bass boat with an outboard motor. If it's waterlogged I'll definitely be using this idea to dry it out ! Great video!
This is awesome, thanks so much for sharing. Did you end up repairing the other holes (like the one you showed where there was chafing)? I have a sunfish with a few spongy spots in the hull, wondering if it's necessary to patch those and if so, how to get started.
Hi. Working fiberglass is not the easiest thing to do when starting from scratch, but it is not impossible and it gives a lot of satisfaction. There are many tutorials around, but I would advise to ask "real" people for help, at least at the beginning. A pro would be obviously better, but almost any surfers you might know, repairs his boards; those who are into RC modeling, are very good as well, and also car bodyshop DIYers. Ask your friends :) Good luck!
I wouldn’t waste my time with a MiniFish. I have 2. They are a L O N G way from a Sunfish, although look quite similar. Mr Sunfish, Cotuit. 50+ yrs experience with these boats.

how did you find out the year on your minifish? I've got one and I'm curious
Sweet video. I unknowingly bought a water logged sunfish clone. But now I have hope I can make her light again and have some fun with it
Me too

they dont steer well with a motor. youll have to use the dagger board. i wouldnt bother
I'd like to know how much the wet boat weighed and how much it weighs after being dried out.
Decided to go with a bigger fan. Used a 4.5 hp blower detachable from a shop vac. Seems to be working well but just can’t leave it on 24/7 though.
How did you close off the holes?
inspection ports probably
Merci . I can dry my laser's hull now.

Yours had foam inside? My dolphin should didn't! lol It's a solo skiff conversion now.
How'd it turn out?
hi - where did you find those plastic threaded caps?
they're called deck plates. you can get them from boat supply places or on amazon.

LOL Cotuit, to each their own.
you should of weighted it before and after
Coulda shoulda
Doesn't appear to be a Sunfish. I believe that that hull is a Sunfish clone.
Minifish, made by AMF (Alcort Division).
@@natechurch6868 OK. That looks about right. Your title says Sunfish, tho.. Nice job on the boat, by the way.
