    Thanks! I've never had the courage to do any tricks or stunts, but playing the game Steep, has encouraged me to get into it. Last year I tried going backwards a little, but I haven't been able to steer that well. Also want to learn doing 360s on the ground. I mean, I don't have any problems turning and braking, etc. and riding at 60+ km/h speeds. I can even spin 180 on the ground to go backwards, no problem. I go skiing with my family in Norway, once a year. I'm going to practice this stuff a lot early next year. I've tried sliding on one of those boxes. They weren't slippery at all to me, though. It was like hitting sand.

    Make sure you do NOT use your edges on boxes or else you will slip and land on you butt or hip, trust me I'm experienced... I'm 13 and when I was about 9 I slipped out and after that I lost courage for half a year and then I told my coach and he told me what I was doing wrong. Just saying this because to beginners watching this video, they make it look very easy.
    Also DO NOT knuckle a jump (landing on top of the jumps' landing) no matter what the size of the jump is it hurts, you may not know this if you just hit jumps on the side of the trails because there is no real gap between the jump and the landing. I broke my heel and could not ski for a month another that It sucks if you going to hit a jump (especially a big one) ask for advice and go fast of the jump, but don't overshoot because it's literally the same thing... Just don't land on any flats land on the landing.

    This might be a dumb question, but how long should be skiing before you try to do tricks? I started skiing for the first time last season, this season opened up a couple weeks ago and the few times I went I fooled around a little in the terrain park. I didn't do tricks but was slowly going over small ramps and progressively speeding up and trying to get air. Am I moving too fast? I actually feel like it is making me a better skier as it's a crash course on balance. I really want to try going over the little box but don't want my arrogance to get me hurt lol. Also I am grown and not a spring chicken if that makes a difference. And does anyone have any exercises they recommend to help with feeling lighter on my feet and helping with the lower back pain from skiing?

    Hi, just wanted to ask something:
    Just some background information. I am 16 years old and very interested in skiing. I absolutely love skiing while I only have 2 weeks of experience. Both 2 weeks I followed lessons and I can say that I was a good, disciplined learner.
    I can go nice and safe from a slope but should I follow/buy tutorials to try them out if I only will get normal rental skies? (I will go skiing in Austria (Montafon to be specific) between Christmas and New Year)
    My parents will not likely rent twin-end skies for me with my level of experience, unless they are not expensive to rent than normal ones (I have no idea of the price difference).
    So, should I buy those tutorials or is it going to be pretty useless with rental skies?
    Thanks in advance for your feedback.

    Going to Trysil in a couple of months, and I want to start practicing riding switch, spinning, etc. We rent skis everytime. I usually ask for twin tip, and they'll give me some random twin tip skis. Usually with bindings placed towards the back. Do you have any tips for what I should be asking for riding parks? I hear twin tip with dead center bindings is the way to go. Is that right? Do you have a recommended height, etc.? I'm 203cm tall. I think I usually get like 170-180cm, is that what they should be, or is that too long for parks? (Despite my height)

    the first problem i had whilst skiing was when i was learning ollies. at first i popped back too much and when i went back to far my ski's popped off,ive got it sorted now but for any starter skier don't worry about the height just get them down and you will progress

    My skis have these metalledges to get better grip in the snow, but when I then try to rail sideways then just start to hang up in the rail and i fall hard. Any tips?

      TotalFlipping detune ur skis

    • @gus6601
      @gus6601 7 років тому

      TotalFlipping Your skis are sharpened which doesn't allow you to slide on the rail and causes you to catch edge. The only way you be able to fix this is probably retune your skis or buy some park skis.

      Use whichever skis you have. Does not matter so much in the beginning. If you like it get some twin tip skis.

    What are the disadvantage of normal ski by trying those tricks?
    Is it posible to do a 360 with normal ski?

    • @mikemcalary3452
      @mikemcalary3452 5 років тому

      yes normal skis will work fine for 360's. You can also 180 with regular skis but I wouldn't recommend doing it on big jumps.

      Ive been skiing for 4 sessions, maybe 15-18 hours total and started hitting a little 3ft jump on the my last sesh. My biggest issue that I want to resolve before going bigger is judging my speed correctly (I go too fast most of the time) and not squating too low when I pop.

    Do you need park skis to do any of these tricks? I wanted to try a box slide today but my instructor said I shouldn't because my skis are all mountain and not park..?

    • @hDFiVes1mpLe
      @hDFiVes1mpLe 8 років тому +2

      +Daniel Belcher Well park skis make it easier but you can basically do everything on every ski. Its pretty hard to ollie with a FIS race ski as they are quite stiff, but it is doable. I'd reconsider your choice of instructor :D

      Never mind the instructor if you are ok with making the edges of the skis blunt but if you want to keep the skis in top condition for turning sure listen to him/her and stay away from those fun boxes and rails.

      The only thing that really matters is the amount of tail rocker (IMO). I can't do anything involving switch on my Chams because the tail is just too low and it jams into the snow. Have to have one of my other pairs for that.

      Völkl, Wall in 185cm. But do not use my ski length to guide you on what ski length you should have. I could just as well have 177cm and I am 177cm tall.
