      Steve Graziano Pretty much everything you need to learn about 3D printing can be found on UA-cam. 3D printers can be found from $ 200. So it's just to start. It's fun and inspiring it too.

    Ooppss.. you forgot to show one of the most delicate steps in the process, how to remove the mold. Most important is the release agent, in this case baby powder. There are different techniques to remove the mold, first a high frequency vibrating device is used to free the mold before or after spliting the box, then screws are used as handles to pull out the mold.

      +Carlos Arango Thanks for the tips. I will test it next time. I actually forgot to remove it. I Held in molten aluminum with plastik shape inside. It was almost destroyed. There is little aluminum in the plastic if you look closely. Second time I remembered to take it out.

    The title is not correct, it's not an aluminum 3D printed mold, its a mold created from a 3D printed part to make and aluminum part. You totally mislead people with the title and you don't show the part where you remove the 3D printed master part either.

      You are right. Is this better " Casting Scuba Dive weights belt in 3D printed ABS - cast aluminum mould 3/4"?

    Hi I would like to buy from you the form for casting the lead ,what is the price for the form to 2kg and 5kg if you have for sale?

    • @BenTommyEriksen
      @BenTommyEriksen  8 років тому

      +mariobmw730 HI I assume you do not want the text "Bø dykkerklubb" so I have to print a new 3D shape. And from that make a aluminiummold. All weights is determined by how much lead you fill it. One mold for all weight. Price: 200$ pluss shipping.

    How did you take the plastic mold out of sand

      +Dave J Divide the mold and remove the part before holes are made. Sorry it does not appear in the film.

    Stilig serie, selv om de kommer i feil rekkefølge:) Må prøve å støpe alu en gang jeg også. Ser spennende ut.

    When I've done lost PLA casting before using dry playsand my sand always soaks up a really sickly toxic kind of smell, does this happen when using greensand?

    • @BenTommyEriksen
      @BenTommyEriksen  7 років тому

      There is some smell. But since all plastics are removed before starting to pore the plastic will not burn.

      @@BenTommyEriksen At what point did you remove the pla part? I didn't see that part. It looked like after you were done tamping the green sand, it transitions to you opening the mold and the plastic part was already removed?

    Can you re-use the sand or do you throw it away?

    • @BenTommyEriksen
      @BenTommyEriksen  8 років тому +1

      +Ghost Man Most of the sand I can reuse. The sand that is closest to aluminum is for burnt.

    • @BenTommyEriksen
      @BenTommyEriksen  8 років тому +2

      +Ask me The sand is about 90% sand and 10% clay i think. I bought it ready-made. But there are many UA-cam movies showing how to make your own. Search "casting sand DIY" or "greensand casting DIY"

  • @Tom-io5os
    @Tom-io5os 5 років тому

    This is way too much work for a simple lead mold. I guess if you have to buy the kildry oven. Why not just buy the laed weight and be done with it. Too much cost here and time for a dive weight.
