Funny you mention DJs, that's why I'm here I was wondering what the quality is like over hdmi. I need a better but still cheap camera for an overhead shot. I already have a cap card, Elgato HD 60 pro
Thank you for this .I wonder is there any problem for the go pro to run so many time without stopping? Like getting warm ? also the Battey needs to be inside ?isn't any issue with the battery run so many time without stopping ?
Hi! I’m really looking forward to doing this but I can’t seem to find a proper case for my hero 3+. I need one with a hole on the side big enough to connect both (charging and mini hdmi) cables. Where did you find yours? Thanks for the amazing video!
I've got that same cheap capture card and it works perfectly. It looks cheap so I got another one just incase but I haven't had any problems with it and I've used it once or twice a week for 3 hour streams for the last 4 months. I use it with my macbook pro (mid 2015)
im trying something like this and i bought a hdmi to micro-hdmi cable and a hdmi to type-c usb video converter. i think it doesnt want to work due to it being type c :/
How come when I plug the go pro to a power source I can't use it at the same time for a webcam? It will automatically go to charging mode and I can't use it while charging?
@@davidswift9120 i’ve found the solution for it bro. Don’t connect your go pro directly to your PC for power. Instead, connect it to a different power source like plugging it straight away to a power board.
this works great! thanks for the video. I'm using the Hero 3 (Not the 3+) and for some reason it's showing the battery charging symbol and FPS settings on the screen in my camera view. It shows up on recordings unfortunately. Is there a setting that I'm missing? Thx!
How's that? Surely it's like £10 for a cable + £15 for the cap card = £25 odd. A decent webcam costs way more than that surely. Note I say decent coz webcams don't tend to actually output a good image in my experience... Even ones that cost £100 +
funfact: earlier in the days.. you actually could stream video from USB :D ..but then gopro got a firmware update and disabled it. - their reasoning was "this function was not intended" -_-
Why such an expensive £200 device??? HDMI to USB HD1080 60FPS converter cost £15-20! I have a Hero 3+ Silver max resolution is 1080 60FPS. If you have Black version ,than is best option only 1080 maybe 1440?! And you do not need this USB 3.0 support and only USB 2.7.
I literally mention a £7 device in the video. The whole point of this video was to highlight that capture cards had come down in price. The cheapest ones used to literally be £100 and over.
@@SiHargreaves I have cheap device which is already USB3 and processes up to 3840*2150@60FPS and converts it to max.1080P@60FPS FHD. Si saves the day again! Thanks for the clear explanation about capture cards.
I made a video about this 2 years ago and the quality of the gopro is better than a lot of "webcams", thanks for an update.
Thanks
Going to give this a try on my Hero3. Plan is to stick the gopro on my head and stream euro truck sim 2 because I run it on 3 big screens

Really handy video. Big up 👊🏻

Just off amazon camkix or one similar to that. Much better than the cases for surr
Everytime.i plug my gopro3 on obs i got messages on the screen kind.of the menu of the gopro on my obs screen. Is that the osr you re talkin about?
Can i use it without Camlink? I just want to have 1080p 60 fps, not best quality or something.
is there a way without capture card, for what, why no plug and play
Fantastic Dj discOworm San Fransisco Thank You!!!!!
muito bom
Si, what did you find when you got your cheap cap card in the post? Did it work well?

Hmm may be. I've found coverters etc rarely help in these situations
Can it be a realy small ssd since it's not storing anything
Ya it just needs something in the slot but it doesn't do anything
do it need to be a hero or can it be silver as well
I think the difference is silver or black no? I don't think it makes a difference, it's the capture card that matters.

@@wongcrewnz This still did not work for me. It displays the USB symbol & will not allow me to change it. Is there possibly I setting I missed?
What kind of output does it have? Interlaced or not? Thx for video, now i know what it did not support standard 30 fps.
Eee I can't remember my G. I sold mine now and use other set ups

Hero 3 is not interlaced
hi! does the gopro starts charging itself while streaming?
Um, I can't remember. I think you have to use a seperate cable to make sure it doesn't run out

it is also recognizable by photo booth?
I dunno.

@@SiHargreaves Hey I have the same issue, do you know what setting you need to turn off?
I also have this issue does anyone know how you solve this? pls help
nevermind i found the solutioin you just have to turn off on screen display in the settings
something I was struggling first but found the solution: turn off the OSD (on screen record)!
Ya I should have put that in the vid. Thanks for commenting 😊
Do you do this on the goPro or OBS? Thanks
I'm currently using 4black in 1080p by hdmi out and i'm satisfied.
Nice one. I think if you can get the battery sorted on Go Pros they're great.
@@SiHargreaves yes, i take off the battery and plug the cable power on my phone charger.
How did you manage to connect the GP Black 4? Have you used a capture card? My Black 4 does not connect if using only hdmi ((

basically what im thinking. have you found any good webcams worth considering. assuming were both researching the same thing here :-)

You even watch the video? Those cap cards costs feck all.
