I have a 22-28 and with the box wedge and two men we produce 25 mins per cord 12-18” red oak again box wedge if we had a 6 or 8 way I’m sure it would have been quicker. Best machine on the market and well worth the investment
@@stewartscott7572 yes an no. The 4 and 6 way wedges work really well up to around 12". After that the wood needs to be resplit and then the box wedge is more efficient
That splitter is a BEAST Andrew and the conveyor just screams quality your guys do an Excellent job on the fit and finish making one SEXY LOOKIN SETUP! ! that 22-28 doesn't even grunt ! I love to watch these machines in action, wood splitting doesn't get any easier then when it get's SLAYED WITH AN EASTONMADE !!!!!!!!
I have the 22-28 with a 6 way. With rounds ready and another guy we can do 2 cord a hour without question. I had 3 guys and all rounds cut up and my mini skidsteer helping us feed the splitter and we did 2 cord a little under a hour. Yes this is a big splitter but it is a production monster. The rounds we split are 18" plus so we have to chase resplits and still no issues.
I’m looking into getting a conveyer for the Ultra. Something small maybe no longer than 10’, something to load my truck so I don’t have to throw the pieces.
Those blocks were gravy train bundle grade, my favorite to split. Be nice if my suppliers could bring stuff like that all the time but like you said it was perfect case scenario. It does help having the staged blocks to be stacked as opposed in a pile.
Having the auto forward and reverse eliminates the second guy or one guy from running , I cut off logs throw in a heap and stand and split into backhoe bucket then throw it into a pile , load into dump trailer at time of sale lol that auto forward reverse looks handy...
I have a 22-28 and I can get 2 cord an hour by myself. I have it all pushed in a pile next to splitter with the skid steer. But after two hours at that pace I'm whipped!!!
Awesome set up for sure. If I have any success with my splitter, I'd love to get a conveyor fro you even though mine is a different brand it would still work fine.
Now, as you have said in a previous video you could crank up the pressure? in increasing the hydraulic pressure would that increase the cycle time? What exactly, in increasing the hydraulic pressure do for the machine? Saving the momma don't know money for one of those babies! I'm looking at the 5-11 or the 9-16. I love the speed on the Ultra; can you get the 5-11 or the 9-16 close to the cycle times on the Ultra? The reason to look at the 5-11 and 9-16 are the log lift and hydraulic adjustable wedge and down the road the box wedge. Love the videos love the interaction with your soon to be clients!
Hi Andrew I am just wondering what is the preferred chainsaw you’d like to use when bucking firewood? Also what are the different types of chainsaws you have used in the past that you could say are well-built?
I have been thinking getting a big splitter after I retire and just splitting wood. Not cutting the trees down but just splitting, I will have to look into more but if I could I hope that there is a little money in it. The splitter with the box wedge is the one I think I'd like to get.
@@EastonmadeWoodSplitters if I can I'm going to talk to guys who take down trees, put out some feelers to guys who sell fire wood some camp grounds and places where they sell chain saws and see if there is a market for something like this or it just might turn into 2 or 3 people for one year and that won't work so more research and talking to people and learning. Easton from what I've seen is the way I want to go if this dream works out. Thanks and the box wedge is one of the ones I want along with the 4 and 6 way
Fantastic machine for sure, just a couple of comments: the lifters need to be higher on the conveyor perhaps? Why not consider making this into a processor by adding a cut-to-length device?
I'm sorry but I really think this is quicker and more efficient than the log deck Dyna firewood splitters if you know what I mean. I would love to hear other guys opinions. We move alot of wood every year and we are always looking for more efficient ways for to smallest dollar.
What is the weight and ease of moving the splitter? Can it be moved by hand or with a trailer dolly? That being said how heavy are the wedges looking at getting a unit just not sure what else I'll need to be able to move it.
The splitter weighs 2200lbs. You can move it by had if it's hard packed and flat. The wedges are 100-200lbs depending on the wedge itself. An ATV is a little light for the hydraulic tank end, but it will manage. A side by side or small tractor works best. I have a powered trailer dolley that works well also.
A dump trailer would all but put it on the rail if you were close enough, self feeding as well. I think the 22-28 is much faster in the push making the real world cycle time faster than the 12-22 even though it's faster with no load making the box wedge much more efficient on the larger machine. What your splitting has a lot to do with cycle times. Do wedges interchange between all machines?
Yes you are right. The little bit you loose on the unloaded cycle vs the load cycle is negligible when you get into the bigger wedges. The wedges interchange on the 5-11/9-16/12-22. The 22-28 wedges a bit heavier.
Lucky in US.... in Italy and Europe this will be out of safety law... Coz here the put one leverage on each hand...so you cannot touch the log while you are splitting it. Great equipment anyway🤙

LOVE that ram and the the latching controls.
When you have a fast splitter, the limiting factor is not the splitter. It's how fast you can get your firewood rounds to the splitter.
This is true
