Thanks for the feedback and support. Really appreciate it.
@@EastonmadeWoodSplittersI found that keeping a squeeze bottle spray bottle with corn oil in it really helps the splitting with a couple squirts on the wedge when you know it's going to be a tough split
If you create one more new thing that I have to add to my splitter before its built I may just end up divorced, homeless and heading to Canada looking for work.
Don't come to Canada we have millions unemployed now from the beer virus. xD
Streets are paved with gold in Canada.....just have to bend over and pick it up.
Oh it's nice to take a big gnarly piece like that and turn it into a few days worth of heat !! I love it
Thats for sure. Really appreciate the feedback and support James.
Just what I need for those huge tree service pieces! Does a great job!
There ya go Andrew this probably the 1000 video I’ve been watching with you and your machines with all the other ones from others give you hats off thumbs up you deserve a beer have a couple
Jerry with a G mentioned the tall four way to me for the big ugly oak that I have on my property. I'm glad he mentioned it. Thanks for posting a video of it so I can see it in action before I get it.
That tall wedge is really the ticket. I wish I had one on my 20 yr old Iron and Oak. If I ever replace this one, an Eastonmade will be the one. You have a great product.
That's handy as a pocket on a T shirt right there bud.😃👍👍
G'day Andrew, Henry is a true gentleman 👍.
hi there like the tall wedge , good machine , , i think you got more of a work out on these 2 rounds than the 1/3 challange . i like this splitter john
Nice job Andrew. That big and tall wedge makes the smaller splitters able to handle that gnarly tree service wood.
Great for the guy who is doing his own firewood and gets the free disposed wood from the tree guys from time to time.
It's perfect for that. Really appreciate the feedback and support.
Love your demonstrations on your wood splitters you show them very well and what they can do thank you Dana in Maine
Thanks Dana. Really appreciate the support
Hi Andrew keep the great work coming. Thanks again for making quality machines. Say Hi to Stacey and the kids. We also get these kind of pieces.
Will do deb. Appreciate all the support
Yup need this in my life.
Two big pluses. The push plate and the splitting wedge. Nice👍👏
Both help out a lot in that big stuff. Really appreciate the support Al
I don't often have too many rounds like that but having a well built splitter that can handle anything you roll into the cradle, is worth the money in the long run. No need to pull out an axe or sledge as I have had to do in the past with other splitters when the block is jammed onto a standard 6" wedge. Great idea Andrew. Cheers!
Thanks for all the feedback and support gord. Really appreciate it
That sir is some gnarly wood
Love it! That tall wedge is great. I'm in no place to tell you what works but I think you should try to double the depth front to back of the horizontal wedges. I use one like that and when these oversize pieces pass through the wedge the top two chunks just sit on the wings till you pull them back. No more picking them up off the ground or short stroking the ram and fighting to pull the round the rest of the way apart. Just a suggestion, l love your products and think you put out the best splitters on the market.
Hey Andrew, I bought the Tall Boy wedge. I love it. You never fail to hit it out of the park! Thanks and take care. Shalom/gw
Friend, Can you tell me the price of this wedge? I think i'm going to have to buy one. Thanks so much!
@fxpestoperator5527 HI, I just found your question. I think it was $800 to $1,000 delivered. But it's worth it. You can use it as a single or a four-way. Check with Eastonmade. Good luck! Shalom/gw
Beautiful Machine is my dreaming have one some day
This is a great wedge didn't know you made that really gets the wood down to size . Hope you enjoy that cold beer you deserve one !!
Thanks for all the feedback and support tim. Really appreciate it.
God that is satisfying.
A thought: keep the bulk of the log on operator's side. Let far side get shaved and leaves only one hunk for operator to put back in, instead of 2 pieces
the more i watch these videos and the jpf ones the more i want to get one
That's impressive.
Thanks scott!!!
You are always thinking outside the box ( wedge ) Andrew. lol Great idea
lol. thanks for the support jeff. Really appreciate it.
Now you tell me lol! You guy make the best splitters out their by far!
Lol. thanks for all the support Jeb. really appreciate it. Great to hear from you.
That is a beast for sure.
There just never seems to be enough table space for the big stuff though.
i agree this is much better than trying to run it through a standard 4 or 6 way wedge, I want one of these for my 12-22
get in touch with the guys and they should be able to get you fixed up. Really appreciate the feedback and support Michael.
Eastonmade #1 👌🏻🔥🇨🇦
Thanks for the feedback and support Brad
I ordered the tall 4 way with my 22-28! C’mon December of 2022!
Thus past weekend at the p.b show, got to see alot of splitters to me there is no comparison. This splitter with that tall wedge I think is absolutely unbeatable. Also last week I was hauling those concrete walls for a local construction company and got to see one of your processors running down the highway, got me even more excited to get mine.thanks for this video.
Great video 👍
Thanks!!! Really appreciate all the support.
now thats what im talkin about good job im impresed!
Thanks scotty!!! Really appreciate the support
Nice machine. Dear Santa LOL
Hey Andrew. Hope all is well. We split a cord yesterday, cut up the oversized wood and split with the wood splitter. I gotta say, it takes less time to split and stack a cord using a chainsaw (Husq 372 with 24" bar) and an Eastonmade splitter (12-22) with oversized wood (>14" or really crooked), than it does with a firewood processor (Hakki PIlki Easy 37) and smaller logs
Really great to hear from you. Appreciate the feedback and support.
Holy shit that is one powerful splitter
I'm here in the Pac NW and I regularly deal with fir & maple rounds this size and larger. with knots. I have an Axis machine on order and watching this makes me happy with that decision. I'd love to see you put an Axis through it's paces with this larger gnarly material. That log lift looks pretty skookum though I must say, should be able to handle whatever I can throw at it.
This really big nasty ones are easier to handle on the axis for sure. Really appreciate the feedback and support. you will love the axis.
Didn’t no that was an option, but I can see how that would come in handy
Can see a real appeal for people who have long split machines, up to 42” with this wedge. Good to see that it can be dropped far enough to be used as a single blade as well
They do work really well. Haven't ever tried on in a long stroke machine yet.
Sure could use one of those
Do you think this would work on my Optima? On my four way wedge the wood has a tendency to climb up because it seems the push block is so small...maybe I should just go with a two way wedge. However, I'm really impressed with my splitter, way more power then I thought it would have and have been using it for about four years now.
Just ordered a 12-22 today with the 7-way box wedge and this tall 4-way. Now all I have to do is save all my pennies and wait 6-8 months. Easy, right? 🤪 Special thanks to Gerry for helping me through the process!
I noticed that the flap at the bottom of the conveyer actually lifts the split wood over the the bars that are supposed to scoop them up ,would a brush arrangement do better ,or have you tried this already.
That 9-16 certainly got a workout dealing with those big gnarly knotty fire wood rounds. That extra tall 4 wedge does a good job. Sometimes there is no substitute for a single wedge.
This is true. Thanks for all the feedback and support.
Always fun to watch your splitters doing their thing, Andrew.
You know how roughing end mills have ridges on the flutes? I've often wondered how a splitter wedge would do with the same geometry. The edge of my wedges are machined on an arc and work pretty well, but it seems like a wedge with serrations might be another level yet.
Have you ever experimented with anything like that?
I really don't know how that would go. it may be worth a try in the future.
Looks like me wrestling large locust on my current splitter, looking forward to my 22-28 with box wedge on order. Single knife busts it up well on the 9-16!
You're gonna love the 22-28 justin. Thabks for the feedback and support. Really appreciate it
That’s a great wedge. I wonder if you would have to run the big diesel splitter on idle or just barely pull the lever forward - trying to hold the log I don’t think a 5 second cycle time would be too safe. Sounds like a future video idea.
Great video!
thats not a bad idea at all chris. Sort of like the throttle on a fast car....really not much difference unless to go all the way.
I had some nasty, big rounds. I just got my new tall 4-way wedge yesterday. It works fantastically. Thanks Andrew.
Glad its working good for you george. Really appreciate the support. it's great to hear from you.
@@EastonmadeWoodSplitters I spoke to gerry with a "G", but forgot to ask this. Im getting the 12-22 with boxwedge. My question- If I have (and i do) big nasty pieces that im pretty sure wont go thru the box wedge, then whats my next option? Probally wont go thru the 4 way either, but, if/can that "tall" 4 way can go low enough so I can use it as a single blade? I really didnt want to get 3 wedges with my order- a box wedge, a 4 way, and a single blade. In my use, im kinda thinking the 4 way wont get used much, as I can just use box wedge- but then, i do have narly notty pieces, and Im unsure which wedge configuration to order with my splitter. Hopefully my question makes sense :)
@@jerrywayneray i would go with the tall 4 way and the box wedge. Should do what you're wanting to do.
@@EastonmadeWoodSplitters yep, just saw in a video exactly my question answered. Dude stalled the splitter, got it stuck, knocked the wood loose with sledgerhammer, then lowered the 4 way so it became a single blade ! LOVE IT
ua-cam.com/video/mXbBgNB3VbQ/v-deo.html
I bought the tall 4-way for my 12-22. It's great! I think you should list it on your web site. ;-)) Shalom/gw
Ill double check I thought it was on there. Great to hear from you
@@EastonmadeWoodSplitters It may be. Maybe I missed it. Anyway, I think you should make a point to advertise it. On the very rare occasion that a round gives me trounle I just drop the wedge down and it serves as a tall single, effectively giving me a 4-way and a single in one wedge. Another trick I use is that, if a gnarly piece gets stuck, I wrap a short nylon strap around the wood and the back of the pusher and let the cylinder pull it back. I use nylon because if it slips off, a chain wouldn't feel very good smacking me in the head. LOL Shalom/gw
I think your box wedge is the answer
Very nice! Tree service wood crusher!
✌
G'day old mate when can I order my beaver cap Ishman ?
Yet another beastly performance by Eastonmade! So speaking of custom modifications...Has anyone asked to have an Ultra made with a bigger push plate? I know that it has been discussed on various UA-cam channels that people think it needs a bigger plate but from what I've seen Eastonmade says no.
I have thought about making the push plate bigger. The biggest issue is safety. Don't normally have to many issues as long as the operate understands how the machine functions
I'll be your Guinea Pig for a bigger plate. Too bad my Ultra is scheduled for Aug 2022. 😉. When I watch videos of guys splitting with the Ultra, especially with the 4 way wedge, it seems the block spins out a lot when it makes contact with the wedge. I'm my layman's opinion a bigger push plate would solve that or at least help. I'm far from an engineer so I could be completely off base. Keep up the good work Andrew. I love your products and your videos and I'm super proud that you're Canadian. As Don Cherry would say.... You're a beauty! 👍 Dave in SW Ontario
I like the looks of this machine, But with the wood Im dealing with on a daily basis, Im still leaning toward the Axis.
Looks like I’ll be call Gerry tomorrow !
Give him a ring!!! Really appreciate all the support Jason.
Like bifocal glasses. Split second adaptability. A boon for boiler wood users that cut the big knotty stuff
I would get this wedge and a 6 way as I get nasty logs like this and nice logs that the 6 way would munch through
Just a question, have u ever tried splitting a log of the same size but a little bit more green?
Wouldn't it be better to break down these huge rounds with the skid steer long arm splitter first and then load the horizontal splitter
Because of awesome fantastic people like me? Awwwwww come on now. Making me blush.
Lol the whole hearted truth. Really appreciate it chris
Andrew you are by far a world class representative for Eastonmade well done
Thanks for the feedback and support Harry. Really appreciate it.
Looks like the axies (sp) would do the same job, but a touch slower.
Nice splitter.
Thanks Steven. Really appreciate the support
What is the lead time looking like for an ultra?
As a sawmill guy it hurts to see all the curly tiger maple you guys split
Yep...firewood sure keeps you warm. There’s your first heat out of it.
Love your videos, but my first thought was, “ Whoa, is somebody compensating?” If you know what I mean. 😂😂😂
Lol. aint that the truth hahaha
I have thought I wish the 4 way on my 12-22 was taller. Great minds think alike. I almost never use 6 way.
Why don’t you use your 6 way?
@@joelacost1430 need just the right size blocks for 6 way to work good. Don't get as uniform splits with it, can get a piece stuck easier, doesn't work as well for resplits, for me it's just not worth the effort to change from 4 to 6 way.
What is the height of the tall wedge? Thanks
Okay, I have a question, why would you do that rather than just riping the round down to sizes?
That looks like bog standard wood here in Aus. Not at all ugly. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
G'day Alan, to true it doesn't matter what it looks like as long as it burns👍🇦🇺.
that is a valid point guys. Thanks for all the support
We deal with this kind of wood often but not once has it occurred to me to use a splitter. All that handling and time to process one round seems like a lot of wasted energy. It's obviously a very good splitter but I do wood like that a lot faster by hand, and by the look of it use a lot less energy too. I just leave the rounder on its side and do 3 or 4 parallel rip cuts about 3/4 of the way through, stand it up and wack it with a dulled Swedish trimming axe. done in like a minute. 2 at the most. I'm almost 60 fwiw.
Not sure how much time and effort it would save noodling them. That could very well be the answer.
On these machines since there are a lot of pivot Points or moving joints are there any place to grease zerks and if not why
There isnt because everything runs on a self lubricating nylon bushing
I deal with a lot of this kind of wood when I get logs dropped off.
This wedge is for you!!! Really appreciate the feedback and support
Andrew, I ordered the box wedge on my 12-22 specifically for the big gnarlies. Would you say that the tall 4-way fits best for a customer that doesn't want to make that jump all the way to a box wedge, or do you think there is a 'stall in the stable' for both?
I would normally try and sell a fellow both. The box wedge works great in clean wood and the tall 4 way works good for the really nasty pieces
By the way, I'm currently working my way through the last truckload I'll ever need to split with my 15 year old Huskee. She's tired, and has slowed to 20 seconds cycle time over the years. I'll be ecstatic when the blue and orange takes over!!!
Hey Andrew how long is the wait to get one of those tall 4way wedges because I need to order one right away
A couple of weeks likely for just the wedge. Give the guys at the shop a call and they will be able to give you a really good idea.
Great idea, what ever you added to the height of the center wedge add that to all your other wedges like on the 6 way, or just add the height to the center wedge. You have that big push block and all that power, see if your splitters can handle longer wedges. Might help splitting some of the wood. Thank you and have a great day
I don't think it is a terrible idea. It would add a lot to our operating costs and they are more awkward to handle.
@@EastonmadeWoodSplitters It was just an idea but you could offer it and the person buying it would have to understand it is more money. You are the man when it comes to stuff like this so you will know, thank you for your time
How well would the same piece of wood go through your box wedge design splitter
It will go through but it would be messy
That type of splitting is way harder on equipment. I’ve bent beams and busted push plates that way. Will all that stuff be under warranty if we split big twisty wood like that?
Yep we are pretty good with our warranty. As long as you don't run it over with a bulldozer we will normally cover it.
What is the BLACK splitter in the back? 🧐
Can something be added to the push plate for helping remove stuck pieces? Something like a spike on a latch that could be hammered in.
Have had a handful or guys ask. I find moving the wedge up and down will normally dislodge anything stuck on. Really appreciate the feedback
A short chain wrapped around the stuck round and the pusher works well just understand the splitter could break the chain so go easy.
Is it really cost/ time effective to fool with pieces like this though?
That's one hoss of a wedge
Are you going to add this as an option to the online order form? Currently not showing up.
No...if you call the sales guys will be able to get you fixed up
With a 14 month lead time eastonmade is the best splitters money can’t buy:-(
You must have leather skin on your hands or else every night begin with pulling splinters lol. Love your designs - simple and effective
Thanks for the feedback and support!!!
This video shows how that big wood will slow down production for sure.
Gotta keep it real. Appreciate the feedback and support
Yes, but look at how much wood he got to burn, and for my OWB I would left it bigger, looks great to me!!!
This is true dave
Just ordered one today for my 12-22! Andrew, stop making new attachments that I need for my splitter. Love your products. They’ve been a life changer!🪵
Will the wedge drop low enough so you can use it as a single blade wedge? I ask this in that if I get a really knotty piece that im sure wont go thru the 4 way without stalling- and i just want to single slice it. Do I need to order the single slice wedge with my 12-22?
Dang wish I had noticed that when I ordered mine.. some reason thought all the 4 ways came like that...
If you haven't got it yet give gerry or Justin a call and they can change the order.
@@EastonmadeWoodSplitters already have 12-22 4 6 and box...
That would be a good set up for a tree trimmer for those big ugly yard trees
That's definitely the 4-way I'd want. I don't get a huge amount of those big ugly rounds but I do get enough that it would worth the upgrade! It sure tames those big fellas. I saw it on Ben at Surviving Country Life's 9-16. It sure works well!
That Henry is a good man!
Really fortunate to have henri. Ben does have the tall 4 way.
31st!
Looks like boiler guy s heavenly present
Works great for boiler wood.
Andrew, are you gonna find me a demo I can get soon?
They are few and fair between
@@EastonmadeWoodSplitters I spoke with Jerry a few weeks back. I understand. 615.300.0603 if things change.
Hi can I purchase a auto cycle valve from you
Now that's a knife.
Is it odd that I read that in an Australian accent? Lol
Your company makes some amazing toys for adults that like to play with wood. I still use my Troy bilt 27 ton log splitter, however it's sooooo slow. It's a good 14-15 second cycle time and that's being generous. I really like your 511 that Chris has.
Glad things are settling down enough with the transition that you are able to get back to more videos. That was some UGLY wood.
We have a lot of it ironed out. Really good help in both shops. Appreciate the feedback and support Brian.
Sure is a shame those B&S motors wont start ,,LOL
They'll hardly even roll over lol
Do you have any dealers in the Midwest?
They don’t use dealers. It’s all factory direct.
If I had to choose 1 wedge that would be it, especially for the Gnarly ugly wood. Looks like some of the wood that I split, LOL.
Works great for the ugly stuff. Appreciate the feedback steve
I bent my tall 4 way had to use a tractor to get it out of the splitter.
Did you give henri a call and get a new one. I'm sure we could warranty it. would be one of the only ones.
I will call today thanks
I was just told today that a new wedge would be $750 shipped and that the only reason it bent was because of abuse on my part. I live in Washington and only split Douglas fir which is a soft wood so....
Can the ultra get more tonns or 14 is the max.
14 tons is all she's got captain.
@@EastonmadeWoodSplitters , thanks for the info. Have a good one buddy and take care.
