Thanks for this tutorial, very clear and concise, i did my first cut while following along and it came out flawless :)
Great to hear! Thanks for watching :)
THANKS THANKS..YOU HELPED MY ANXIETY,,I CAN BREATH..THIS WAS SO HELPFUL..
So glad we could help =)
HEY EVERYONE!!! Do yourself a favor and NEVER WASTE YOUR TIME trying bluetooth connectivity. The program for this printer has horrible connectivity problems. Your computer will say connected to the machine, and they are, but the program will fail to recognize the machine. Will happen during printing and at the least convenient moments. Don't come close to stomping your machine because their program sucks. I'm currently making a video of myself carrying the Cameo 4 while walking around my room with the machine powered on showing its horrible bluetooth range. Going in and out of connectivity within feet of my computer. ASUS-M15 with everything current. I have other bluetooth devices with excellent range. Its not my system, lmfao.
In our testing, bluetooth connection has worked best at short range - about 10-15 feet. Also, the quality of connection does vary depending on your system. Of course, if bluetooth isn't working for you, a long USB cable will always do the trick! This is still a fantastic cutting machine.
@@HeatPressNation Ya, thats about the range I have found as well. Pathetic. 🤦♂️ I have done extensive testing and found that many times the machine will stay locked on Bluetooth "Unavailable" until the usb is plugged in, then the bluetooth becomes available, and stays available even after unplugging. Even within the 10-15' range(about as long as the usb chord)🤦♂️ this plugging-in/un-plugging has to be done to trick the machine out of staying locked on "Unavailable". Now your free to move your machine about the room usually, even out of the pathetic range. Just don't ever turn the machine off or you'll have to start the process all over. To me Not worth it. It stays within chords reach now. So tired of its games. 🙄🤷♂️
@@HeatPressNation It is a great machine and performs well IF you know how to fine tune different settings constantly. It can be finicky. Never tried a Cricut so...🤷♂️ Purchased many products from Heat Press Nation, you. 😘 Good experiences. ✌
I just got my cameo 4 and this video has given me hope, at one point I thought I wasted my time and money. Best starter video I have seen!
Same 😅
Yes
So did you get the starter bundle that comes with everything you mite need or did you buy everything separate I am actually debating on this one right now I just ordered my heat press 15 x 15 craft pro
@@CedrickWalker it came with some things but I can say this video help..I would say get one..you will need vinyl..I'm just ready to begin..
Thanks ordered mine it’s on the way
I have just received mine and very disappointed. It seems no faster and it's 10 x as noisy.
Wow i feel it's gonna work this time,
I bought my Baby (cameo4) in December and I'v been struggling to get started, the software is loaded everything is in place but It doesn't do the test cut after watching this I think I selected the wrong vinyl sheet in your video you say HT smooth, I'm gonna do just that when I get home,
Thank you🙏
Your video is so straight forward I'm sure it's gonna work this time around
So was that real time cutting?? Cuz the 3 is soooo slow it drives me nuts!
You can change the speed but I wouldn’t suggest for more detailed designers
Thank you so much for this! It looks as though everything is included in order to get going, but I wanted to make sure, is there anything else I need to purchase (I am completely new to cutting machines)? I see it comes with a mat, but what about a weeding tool? Thanks again!
Needed in the video is a major part about how to get the Cameo4 software onto your computer. Yes, I did the download- but it did not put and icon on my desktop to find. I had to go into the Download files on the top of my open Internet file (the one where there is a little down arrow to show recently downloaded files) and once I opened that up it showed 5 files with strange names. I guess that these were from the SIlhouette dowload I did and guessed that I needed to open the .exe =file first before I opened exe1, exe2, exe3, exe4 and exe5. I am not savy enough to find this new file in my pc. My fix was to save one new file and create a new FOLDER and marked it cameo4 stuff. Now when I want to open the SIlhouette Program, I can go to the FILE I had to create as a template. Love your video though, Thank you very much. 🙂
This is the best video on the cameo I have ever seen. Thank you for helping me kickstart my small decal business !
Thank you!
Great video if you want to put graphics on a tee shirt. Should retitle the video, "...& First VINYL Cut!"
Just got my Cameo 4 today - afraid to open the box but now I'm not! Thanks!
Yay! So glad to hear! Hope you have a blast with your new Cameo 😃
my cameo 3 is messing up with the new software. it’s cutting too hard or not at all.
Try reverting back to the previous version. You can download legacy editions of Silhouette Studio here: www.silhouetteamerica.com/software
Does in works on 220 wolts? I want to by and I am interested if it works on 220 wolts.
Woah!! Just getting used to my cameo 3 and I’ve had it for over a year! Can’t wait to see all the stuff you guys have in store with this cutter!! 🙌🏼
Elvia Galvan you can
Elvia Galvan cameo 3 is so much better than this junk. Look how cheap that screen looks compared to the touch screen the cameo 3 has
I’m not sure why I commented you can. Must have been an accident lol. I actually have a cameo 4 and I hate it! You can’t connect a usb to it and it doesn’t have a “repeat job” option. Also the registration detection has been a pain. I’ve got it to recognize the registration marks maybe twice. It also had a weird glitch and spat my mat out super fast and into my face (I have it at eye level)
SlidewaysKenny oh I have no intention of giving up my cameo 3.... Jared always gives awesome tutorials..... 🙌🏼
Just receive my Cameo 4 for my birthday. Got it installed following the easy steps. Could you please tell me where do you get the free designs you show on your video. Thank you
It's in the library sweetie. It will only come up once you've registered
Very helpful! Thanks for the video.
Mine is cutting thru the mat and vinyl... Adjusted it and still no help🥺
was debating between this or the 15" plus. But I'll probably will go with this. For making shirts, a width of 12" is already big enough for designs, so I'm basically saving myself $100 bucks.
The main advantage of having a 15" cutter like the Cameo Plus is being able to use the full roll of HTV. You can still load a 15" roll of HTV into the Cameo4 . However, you'll lose about 3.4" on every piece, since the Cameo 4 only cuts up to 11.6" wide when loading rolls directly into the cutter. On a 5yd roll, that's over 600sq.in. of material that's wasted.
Have a cricut thinking of getting this instead? It this better
Hi Im from Philippines, if I order in your website for Cameo4 is the delivery to my country address possible?
Hi there! Unfortunately, we currently only ship within the US and Canada. We apologize for the inconvenience,
This is the best starter video I have ever come across. Am opening my New Cameo 4 tomorrow, can"t wait. Thx
Thank you so much! Hope you enjoy your new Cameo :)
Same..I just got mine setup.. I can’t wake up early enough in the morning 😬
Best starter video! Thank you!
Karen Williams if you’ve figured it out please help me !!!!!
Hai, thanks for the video. I did setup my new cameo 4, but why my library are empty? There was non of free design.😭

Best cameo tutorial I've seen.... thank you so much. :) You got a new subscriber now... :)
We love to hear those words! ;)
When I do a test cut it cuts the edge of the mat outside of the vinyl. I tried copying you trying to mimic how you placed it on the mat and how you loaded the mat. I have a 4 plus.
So I had the same issue and then found out you have to adjust the blade to the corner of your paper by using the glowing arrows. I'm no expert though just learning it all myself right now!
sometimes when I cut on 3 jet Opaque dosont cut in the point Exactly , stay there white edge beside🥲🥲🥲💔
You may need to calibrate the print & cut alignment on your Silhouette Cameo machine. Please refer to this article from Silhouette for additional information: www.silhouetteamerica.com/faq/solution/calibrating-silhouette-cutting-machine
Can this print out a Desgin with different colors in it ?
Yes. When pressing multi-color designs with HTV, each color layer requires its own separate cut and press. If you want, you can check out this episode of "HeatPressNation LIVE" where we press a couple projects with multiple layers of HTV: ua-cam.com/video/KDXpbVCZI4g/v-deo.html
hello do you have to pay monthly for the designer edition?
No, the Designer Edition upgrade is a 1-time thing. So even when you upgrade the software version (i.e. from 4.2 to 4.3), it will remain the Designer Edition of that version.
Please tell which vinyl you have used in this video.. and can you tell me.. what should be the..
Blade Depth
Force
Speed
For 3M vinyl..??
what do the cut setting actually mean?
What if i cut matless but my vinyl is just right at the edge of the lock? do i put the lock in the next lock slot leaving 3 inches of vinyl free on the right from the lock or do i put the lock unlocked wherever i feel it would be best? 😬
You want the wheel to be fully over the vinyl. If any portion of the wheel isn't making contact with the vinyl, move it over or use the cutting mat.
I just received my Cameo 4 yesterday and I’m finding I’d difficult to try to get started. I just wish that it would come with more detail get started book.
We have more Cameo 4 videos in the pipeline. Hopefully we can have those completed and uploaded sooner rather than later. I also recommend joining either our Facebook group (heat.press/FBgroup) or the All Things Silhouette Facebook Group. There are lots of helpful peers on there who have great insight on using the Cameo and other Silhouette products.
@@HeatPressNation Hi I cut my design and the sticky side of the vinyl is facing up not down what did I do wrong?
so do we have to mirror the image before the cut?
You should add the sound of the cutting too.
Hi can this machine does half cut ?
Great video
I purchased the deluxe but see the basic is what opens. I have no idea how to make this work and can't find help anywhere. Their customer service has not responded
If you purchased the Designer or Business Edition software upgrade, there should have been a code that was provided to you. Open up Silhouette Studio, then go to "help", then click on "Upgrade Silhouette Studio". There you will be able to input all your information to upgrade your software.
Should i pay monthly for its apps cuz im really considering buying one of these
The Silhouette Cameo comes with a free month's subscription to the Silhouette Design Store. You can test it out the subscription to see if you like it. Besides that, I'm not sure what other monthly apps you'd pay for to use this machine?
Just bought the cameo pro and spent 4 hours trying to register the machine and I can’t. Do I have to use the big mat to register the machine for the very first time? Then after that can I cut without using the mat?
You can load vinyl directly into the Cameo without a mat. However, you will need to use the cutting mat when contour cutting. If you purchased your Cameo 4 from HeatPressNation, please reach out to our MyExpert Support Team at support.heatpressnation.com or (800)215-0894. They are available Monday - Friday, from 7:30am-3:00pm PT and will be happy to assist you.
Can you please tell me which auto blade did they used? Autoblade (A) or Autoblade (B)
In this video we're using a Silhouette Cameo 4, which uses the newer Autoblade Type B.
The Autoblade Type A is the older version which is for the Cameo 3 and Portrait 2.
What if you have a library already set up from a previous model. How do you merge them.
If you stored your designs on the cloud, they should automatically load in Silhouette Studio (must be logged into the same account). The software is the same and those old files will work perfectly when cut on the new machine.
Please help me ..Several days I'm looking for answer for my problem. I hope someone can help me. Why my silhoutte cameo 4 is cutting cutting mat ,but not vinyl? It's like it's not loading till vinyl and cutting the cutting mat. Tried to press arows to move cutting mat with vinyl, but it's not working. Like sometimes 2 of 10 times arrows will let me move cutting mat with vinyl.
For an issue like this, we'd recommend getting in touch with Technical Support as soon as possible.
If you purchased your Cameo from HeatPressNation.com, please feel free to call our MyExpert™ Support at (800)215-0894, Monday through Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm. We offer free lifetime tech support on all of our products.

@@HeatPressNation thank you very much!! 😊
Thank you so much for this video! I learned so much ☺️👍👍👍
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching =)
hi i need help in cutting my thermflex plus vinyl using my cameo 4
What's the problem? Is the cutter not cutting deep enough?
Can I use my phone?cas I don't have a computer for the software
We recommend getting a computer so you can take full advantage of the awesome (free) Silhouette Studio software.
There is an app called Silhouette GO, which will allow you to send existing designs to your bluetooth-enabled Silhouette Cutter. As of right now, this app is for existing designs only and cannot be used to design/create new graphics.
For an overview of the app, check out this video from Silhouette: ua-cam.com/video/6T34wnwJnQM/v-deo.html
Stupid question, but this isn't just a vinyl cutter right? I can use paper? I have my own designs with multiple colors!
Not a stupid question at all! The Cameo is designed as a craft cutter, capable of cutting TONS of materials - like cardstock, leather, thin balsa wood, and lots more. It also happens to cut vinyl beautifully, so it's rightfully become a top choice for folks who want an affordable and easy-to-use cutting machine to start making t-shirts with heat transfer vinyl (HTV).
@@HeatPressNation Thank you for your reply.
Nice sales video
I have a serious problem with the cameo stopping or crumbling the paper and I literally do not know what else to do
Try these steps:
- Use a cutting mat
- Position the roller wheels properly on each side of the mat
- Make sure your cut settings are correct. If the blade is exposed too far and/or if there is too much force, it could ruin your media.
Did the remove cut via the usb and the small display... 😑
I have a problem. If I want to cutting coral Draw 5x version. Mostly cutting size is decreased and change size .
Exmp. 4x4 cm box to change 3.5cm .
You have solutions?
Sorry, we don't support CorelDraw. Maybe someone else reading this can be of help?
Can we use Cameo as well for creating notepad?
You can cut graphics out of adhesive decal vinyl, like Siser EasyPSV or EasyPSV Patterns. You can see an example of how we customized a notebook in this video: ua-cam.com/video/7uQAzVgSplk/v-deo.html
Thanks for the info please next time you have to be slow down sounds like you are i ln a hurry
How do you change the blade extension
The Auto Blade is set in the computer, in the output section on Silhouette Studio. Other blades are set manually, usually by twisting the base.
when i hit the up arrow to load it just blinks! please help!

Just got my Cameo 4 yesterday. Can’t use the USB cord with my MacBook, doesn’t fit. I was glad to see I could use Bluetooth, however the Firmware needs to be updated & can’t done without a USB chord plug in. VERY disappointing. Now I’m ordering an adapter from Best Buy. Hoping this works, but then won’t really need Bluetooth, if it even works ( others have had problems connecting). Also, your library of free 100 designs looks very different than mine. Are those some purchased ones too? I don’t have any of the ones you show in this video. Good video, just sad it didn’t come together that easy for me
I feel your pain! My Macbook Pro only has USB-C ports, which basically works with android phones and nothing else. LOL. I had to get an adapter to use it with all my printers, cameo, etc.
As for the 100 free designs, I believe Silhouette recently updated that library. The 100-pack you seen in this video have been around for a while now, so I'm glad they updated it. The newer ones are a lot nicer in my opinion.

If only all tutorials were this straight forward, to the point and easy to follow along!
How much?

i like that cutting machine
What is the clear piece thats stuck to the vinyl? @7:24 what is that piece called anybody let me know ASAP
That's the carrier sheet. HTV comes on a sticky, clear plastic carrier sheet. This helps keep the vinyl in place and all together while the cutter cuts out the shapes. After you peel off the vinyl that you don't want on your tee, the remaining vinyl is held on the carrier sheet. This is what's pressed on the garment. After pressing, peel off the plastic carrier sheet and the vinyl will stay permanently on the garment.
HeatPressNation thanks that was helpful , vinyl and heat transfer vinyl are two different things?
wes watson
Still trying to comprehend it
Practice makes perfect!
Is there a machine that can print & cut?
Or a way to cut the silhouette of a print, like a sticker or something?
Why you put music 8:19 I want to hear if it is noisy when cutting
can we connect two Cameo in one computer??
To control multiple Cameo cutters at the same time, you will need to upgrade to Silhouette Studio Business Edition. Otherwise, you can only connect one at a time.
Where to get that softwarr free ware ya paid
Silhouette Studio is included for free with all Cameo cutters. If you have a Cameo (or other Silhouette machine), go to silhouetteamerica.com/software
I've downloaded the program and my Cameo 4 just doesn't look anything like what I'm seeing. For instance mine doesn't have the number guide on the top and side for sizing instead it has this little box. None of my files are downloading. I've been at his for 3 days now and just don't know what to do.
Hit ctrl + R to toggle the rulers on and off. With the basic edition of Silhouette Studio, you can import JPEG & PNG files, but you will have to trace them in order to get a cuttable graphic. If you have vector files (.SVG, .PDF) that you want to import directly into Silhouette Studio, you'll need to upgrade to Silhouette Studio Designer Edition.
I upgraded my personal home setup to Designer Edition because I create a lot of my graphics in programs like Inkscape and Illustrator. I also download vector files from sites like Shutterstock. It's definitely worth the investment.

How do I register my cameo 4
It should be one of the first steps when you setup a new Cameo at www.silhouetteamerica.com/setup
I just received my silhouette today. I never ever had an electronic diecutting machine before. So I appreciate you showed me step by step how I should set up everything. Definitely I will stick around the channel for more great videos. THANK YOU!!!!!!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching :)
Why is this better than cricut?
Because we said so... hahaha! Just kidding!
Most folks who are only using these cutters for light crafting at home will likely not notice a difference between a Cricut or Silhouette machine. But for people who are wanting to start a home business with heat transfer materials, Silhouette is the way to go because it's a machine that will grow with your and your business. The free software download that comes with the cutter is (in my personal opinion) way better than the web-based design software for Cricut. There are also software upgrades that can add some serious pro features to Silhouette Studio - making it a true powerhouse program.
Does it come off when washed?
Can this trace and cut a towel material that can be used for embroidery and not for heat ransfer/Velvet materials?
Also is it possible to create a fresh design with Cameo studio?
We haven't tested this with towel material yet. There are some channels that have Silhouette-exclusive content and they might have a better answer for you on that.
Yes, it's definitely possible to create original designs inside of Silhouette Studio, which comes free with your Cameo. We have several basic tutorials on how to use the design tools, point editing, etc. ua-cam.com/play/PLY9aNS49KtIxIyNxrMamGzgrk9uldI6hF.html

Just got my cameo. Thanks for the info.
Jared, excellent presentation. NO FEAR and the machine is so beautifully designed! Thank you!
Thank you so much! :)
this can cut acrylic?
It might be able to get through some super-duper thin acrylic. But I think you'd probably be more interested in a laser cutter, like a Glowforge. Those cut & engrave thicker acrylic, wood, leather, etc.
How many inches
This is a 12" cutter
This may be a stupid question, but did you choose those 100 free shapes in your library or did they come preselected? If you chose them, are you free to choose any shapes and fonts from the store? Thank you for your time
Not stupid at all! The 100 free shapes are pre-selected and the same for everyone.
I bought a cameo 4 yesterday sadly i had to return it wasnt functiining well it was refusing to cut even when i chnaged the settings the vinyl wouldnt stay steady it would crumbled it i watched so many yt videos but none worked for me unfortunately i wish i wouldve gotten the same results as everyone else u made it look so easy and flawless
So sorry to hear that! If it was a faulty machine, I'm sure a replacement unit would work just fine. If you purchased from us, we offer free lifetime technical support. So you can call our team at they can assist you with getting your cutter to work 100%.
if it must to use that sheet which you stuck the vinyl on it? or I can simple use it without the board?
You can load most vinyl directly into the cutter, though we prefer to use the cutting mat.
Can the software be downloaded with Windows 7?
Yes, as of the time of this comment, the most current version of Silhouette Studio is 4.4.476. This version is compatible with both 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and newer.
@@HeatPressNation Thank you for your reply :)
I was wondering how is the cameo 4 if you need to kiss-cut ??
It's great! You'd just set the blade to 1 and your force in the 1-8 range, depending on the material.
I am not getting very sharp points when using the offset function when offsetting a star...I have tried both settings...please help
Try making the main object larger. If you're offsetting a small object, you might not get the most detail.
I follow every step but when I go to send it the button won't work and the test button either. What am I doing wrong
If you purchased your Cameo from HeatPressNation.com, please feel free to call our technical support team at (800)215-0894 for assistance. They will be able to best assist you.

Hey so the cutter and computer have to be connected ( cords ) together
You can connect to your computer via USB cable or wireless Bluetooth connection.
@@HeatPressNation I did my first cut came out pretty cool I had words - some of the words peeled up .. what do you believe was the cause of this ( they were small too )
Would it have something to do with the blade debth?
Hi anyone know if this machine can kiss cut stickers? Or do a light scratch on plastic paper to make scratch patterns?
It is very good at that! The blade exposure and downward force can both be adjusted to as light as you need.
