The best compliment for this new Ashley is that, at certain points in the story, we feel downright proud of her. She really comes through when we didn't expect her to.
When she learned to use a ladder I knew reached her peak. 😢 They grow up so fast.
She actually called out a warning and kept me from getting backstabbed by an enemy I missed. I was so confused by the fact that she did something right that the enemy wound up stabbing me in the front.

I actually liked the original Ashley and found her pretty impressive. She did remarkably well for a teenaged girl flung into a horror film scenario. Plus - unlike so many other NPCs for escort missions - she knew how to stay out of the line of fire, could hide or otherwise do as instructed, and above all else, did NOT make a point of charging in to engage enemies in melee (General Z from City of Heroes, I'm looking at you).

Ashley got the biggest glowup out of anything/anyone in this game, she went from an annoying teenager to a well mannered, beautiful, not annoying but also badass young woman.

In the remake, Leon and Ashley are actually really cute together. They have more chemistry than he does with Ada.Then again, Leon seems to have more chemistry with everyone than he does with Ada in this game.

I just think that they didn’t handle Ada really well in the remake. I cared way less for her than I did for Luis, who obviously was improved, but even the OG Luis was loveable. Part of me thinks that they wanted to take a different direction. She definitely looked the most realistic visually but the character is just bland compared to the flirty RE4 Ada.
I feel the flirting is a little sweeter and more impactful in the remake. Because we consistently see Ashley be a compassionate person and caring about Leon beyond "I need him to safely get out of here" and Leon clearly acknowledges that she saved him a few times too. Yes, they could probably never be a couple, but the remake gives them a little bit more of a fire-forged friendship, which makes their interactions a lot more sincere.
I don’t see how they can’t be a couple when Ada doesn’t commit and she’s currently hovering around 40 years old in the lore. Leon is 36. If he wants kids, or marriage, Ashley is a good bet.
Plus Japan and Capcom loves and I mean LOVES Ashley.

Not only the looks, the mannerism and dialogues in the remake version are so much better than OG. The ending scene for instance, Ashley just asked about 'overtime' straight to Leon in childish manner, while in the remake, she maturely just offered Leon if he's interested to become her bodyguard, she could recommend him to her father, which left us imagining things and I love that.

What I appreciate the most about the remake's version of the scene is that Ashley's request isn't as blatantly flirtatious-and that Leon's rejection is more along the lines of "you're too good of a person for me" than a cold "no". Of all the changes Capcom made, that's the one change I respect the most.

Why though, that is supposed to be Leon's character it's how he was since OG RE2. His last statement is even self-defeating, if Ashley was so capable why did Leon even need to go get her. Doesn't make sense from a narrative or character stand point.

The only thing that I did not like in the Remake is that Leon does not seem to know that Ada is working for Wesker. But in the OG, he does.
It never made sense for Leon to think she works for Wesker because he never met him unless Chris gave him all the information about the true source of the RC incident.

@@DarkAttackYT 6 yrs past since Raccoon City. Im pretty sure by that Leon had already knew all about the conspiracies and stories behind Umbrella Corp, and that includes the BACKGROUND of Ada considering in the OG RE2, she was the ex-gf of one of the scientists in the Arklay mansion in RE1.
And there is no reason that he would not know about Wesker and the rest of the STARS members as well considering he knows Chris and Claire, and then later in Vendetta, also Rebecca. I mean he was supposedly the new Raccoon police officer. The STARS team would have been like his superiors or something in the force.
Hell, if given the chance, with Leon's promising skills for survival even as a rookie police in RE2, he might have even eventually become a STARS member himself.

They did Ashley so much justice in this game that I loved having her around. I wanted more playtime alongside her.

Yeah but made Leon and Ada's relationship a lot worse in exchange. At the end of the day who cares about Ashley she only appears in this game and that's it and Leon's job is just escorting her in America. His relationship with Ada goes through many games instead and it was always the most developed until this remake who made Leon act so cold towards Ada and Ada not even saving him from Krauser anymore...

If someone played with your feelings likeso I’m sure you’d be very cautious next time around you meet them especially knowing that they’re really not up to any good in the time you meet them again. I wish after the island's explosion, the merchant was shown again for the last time on his own boat, having escaped the island as well. He saw Leon and Ashley in jetski and waves goodbye to both of them, Leon commented "Looks like he made it out alive as well." then waves back.
Merchant definitely survived, most of the island didn't explodes thanks to Ada betraying Wesker.
The original ending, she wanted to have relations.
The new remake, she is heavily matured and ask if he wanted to be a handsomely paid body guard.
Both are good base on which characteristic of Ashley the viewer likes more. The original still holds up in it's visuals to this very day two decades later.

I think it'd be cool to see her in the modern timeline as an experienced agent, free of fear due to her experiences in 4 and beyond. She'd be a good compliment to Leon, who I think will always carry a bit of fear in him(fear of not being able to save others, not for himself). Ashley's nature makes it seem like she'd be able to balance expectations with the reality of the job in order to stay the path.
Honestly, Ashley is bae material in this remake. I did not like her at all on the OG RE4 but on the remake I absolutely love her. I have never liked Ada that much. I like her but I do not see the why it HAS to be her. I would really like to see Ashley and Leon interact in future RE games.

I forgot just how cheesy the original line is lol. She just straight up offers herself up to him and it sounds terrible, at least in the remake it's a subtle hint that she has developed feelings and wants to keep him close to her and things are left ambiguous because he doesn't coldly reject her like the original. Leon also hints at how much more they put into her character because she's able to grow and change through the story. Original Ashley started as a brat and carried on being a brat until the end, in the remake she starts as a scared little girl who grows up and becomes strong through the experience. Leon can look to her as a reliable person and friend even if nothing happened between them. It's nice they tried to make her more of a character instead of a thing you have to protect and can occasionally perv on.
Though tbh they left that more ambiguous since he doesn't straight up reject her and they ride off ignoring communications lol. Kinda leaves it to your imagination if they took a detour on the way back.

Overtime dialogue was 10x more overt. the remake’s “I could have you assigned to my detail if you’re interested” was subtle enough that it could be read platonic or romantic.
What was really different was Leon’s reaction to her. His remake version was softer and they removed the Ada remark altogether.

- Leon: you don't need me, you proved you can handle yourself.

This is the type of remake that works, keeps the original story and character intact while improving the gameplay and overall quality, no it's not perfect but its the type of remake I'm happy to play
If anybody noticed, the original is actually some kind of justice for Leon who have been through hell by Capcom having Ashlyey being thrown out into the sea and that was Priceless for me in the days. Now, im waiting for the full steam unlock to play this game. Cant wait

a lot of interactions are better in the original and dialogue too, i really miss leon's personality, he feels dull and boring in the remake and the one liners fall flat cause of that.
@@hiramsiqueiros9018 to be fair, the original resident evil 4 was a dang MIRACLE how so many ideas came together and form a masterpiece that it was. But the tone was soooo different with references to the RE movies then the Games it's a massive whiplash between re3 to 4, so the remake.... just had to match the atmosphere with the first 3. And they did.

Yea agree. The original cutscene is short, sweet and has a bit of comedic effect. A nice little ending that concludes the crazy adventure you both went through. The new one feels more like a movie scene. Like being dramatic for the sake of being dramatic that just ends up feeling a bit empty and bland
