84 -> 100 with Angi's training and the black book Winds of Change and then reading the skill books. Also daedric bow shoots with less arc than dragonbone bow with only slightly less damage. Good guide still, thanks!
I never have issues getting Archery to 100, so I never took the time to cheese it this way, It just goes up as i play. Of course I get free lessons from my follow bitch Faendal early on. But the rest comes naturally.
I just started a survival run on master. I did it once, and it was crazy difficult. But no you can have the bow of shadow pretty early in-game and it makes even Master difficulty easy for me.
without any mods, sure. With mods it's not hard. 1 mod for cloak, 1 mod for extra ring, 1 mod for facemask and u can stack more hp, stamina, magic resist, whatever.
Fo r me the best bow always revolved around completing 3 quests in Solsteihm, 1. Re-claim the notched pickaxe for the blacksmith which he gifts it to you after returning it to him. 2. Upon 1st exiting Raven Rock, you will see the leader of Raven rock's soldiers fighting ash spawn, defeat them to get the quest to investigate where the ash spawn are coming from. This leads to a fort where you fight your way to the General leading the ash spawn, defeat him and get the Champion's cudgel, disenchant this for the chaos enchantment. 3. In Skaal village get the quest to rescue the skaal blacksmith, rescue him and he will teach you the recipe for crafting stahlrim gear and weapons. Mind some shahlrim and craft a bow, improve it to legendary and enchant it with the chaos enchantment and a second one of your choosing if you have the extra effects perk in the enchanting skill tree. Now that's a bow to rule them all! It does take some effort to obtain but it'll be worth it.
I find Paralyzing Shot to be a con when you're making long-distance shots because instead of applying the paralyze effect to the arrow instead the game generates an invisible Alteration projectile that moves more quickly than arrows and can paralyze a target with enough time to allow the target to fall out of the arrow's path, forcing it to miss.
Fastest way to level up archery is hotkeying a power (such race power) then using bound bow and shot, once you shot immediately hotkey the power and then shot again so that you alternate continuously and quickly hotkey and fire command: you will fire arrow very quick and you level up much much faster
While I don't condone shooting the Greybeards or your companions just to level up (pick on bandits...they deserve it), I find the Forsworn bow to be the best you can get early on in the game, as its base damage is higher than any other bow you can make or buy.
I appreciated this video. When I look up improve weapons or bows in skyrim, I get many videos on how to use some glitch or loophole to unfairly overpower all weapons and armor. I just want to improve my weapons to give myself an edge to keep up with the rising difficulty of my enemies. But I don’t necessarily want to auto 1 shot kill everything. I have been using the shadow bow primarily, but without the perks to upgrade it yet (arcane blacksmith), it’s beginning to show it will need to be upgraded to shoot down dragons and other tough opponents quickly. So thanks for the armor and potion recommendations for enhancing armor.
Tip: you can get the Oghma Infinium book from the Septimus Severus questline that you start just outside the College of Winterhold. It levels up all skills in either warrior, mage, or thief skill trees by 5 levels. Choose which tree best suits you and there's less shooting greybeards hahah
I love this video super cool my favorite I have had all the bows in this video and I wear the same armor suit myself reading level 52 armor and rising up I can't pronounce the word I call it supreme
Crossbows are so much fun. Switching between them and bows is optimal. Got the enhanced dragonbone bow and dragon bone bow on a stealth archer, best of best worlds.
I had no clue ruin's edge bow was in that cave or was even a thing and went into that cave to do what I thought was a simple quest for an NPC and continued on because I knew there was a moonstone vein over there you can imagine my surprise when I had no magic and was really close to dying trying to fight this guy and just how confused I was. Once I finally killed him I looted his body to find out what the heck was going on and realized it was the stupid bow. If I had known the bow was on him I wouldn't have done this quest so unprepared. Thank goodness I am obsessed with stocking up healing potions that I make and find but still I had no magic to heal myself with.
Longbow, Zephyr, & Auriel's Bow are all the Max speed Bows in the game. Enchanting a Longbow with your standard issue exploit Enchantment will have better dps than a different bow with the same enchantment. Otherwise the Dragonbone Bow is by far the best mix of Speed and damage. In Anniversary Edition is has a higher speed that Amber/Madness Bows and only one less base Damage. 0.75 Speed compared to 0.5. For reference the fastest Bows as mentioned above have a speed of 1.0
@M J The enchantment exploits still make the longbow your best choice in the end game, but you're right about the Bow of Shadows being the best pre-enchanted bow. It being available at level 1 really wrecks the power scaling.
I've just started my first playthrough of skyrim a few months back and finding these videos has helped me understand the game SO much. One thing I'm confused about is the fact that in all these videos nobody mentions hermeus mora's boon that gives you two skill points for reading the books. for starting a new save with the goal of maxing out any skills I would do that series of quests first. Is there a reason everyone skips that or is it just not something most people think about/know about? (I did solthsteim dlc at like lvl 5 bc I had no idea what the main quest was and some merchant told me to go there lol)
What’s better: A legendary enhanced dragonbone crossbow with chaos damage and fiery soul trap, with all the perks that benefit it, or The same but stalhrim instead of dragonbone. I ask because stalhrim weapons get a bonus (I think 25%?) to frost enchantments (which chaos damage counts as).
Also getting the augmented frost, flame and shock perks in the destruction tree, fire, shock and frost enchanter perks in the enchanting tree make the chaos enchantment a skill to own all of Skyrim.
With the Anniversary Edition; if you go to a blacksmith forge, you can create arrows of all types. Basic arrows, colkrub, lightening/fire/frost and others. Didn't see you mention that as arrows are essential. Also the Longbow starts of with a 30% faster draw speed, which you didn't mention either.
Faendal can train you from what ever your starting archery skill is up to level 50 with out having leave riverwood You don’t need to go all the way to high hrothgar also The bound bow is great for magic user but for standard archer don’t have magic to cast it a great bow you can get is bow of shadows in white run dragons reach the Stewart gives you a quest to stop a assassin after you do you get the bow the does 43 damage ,uses ebony arrows 20 damage and the bow gives you invisibility for 30 sec after you ready it !
You left out my favorite bow. Dravin's Bow from the quest Bow to the Master. It can't be enchanted because it's a quest item but it can be smithed. I made a Archery suit so the bound bow worked for most enemies. When there are dragons I pull out reverse-pickpocketed daedric arrows and the weightless bow for mid 900 damage. I like my Breton to travel light.
There's an archer south of Falkreath, up in the mountains. She's got an archery set that'll get you five levels. Not sure if it costs much of anything at all.
People laugh about archery being easy mode, but Bethesda makes it that way by sheer design: 1. You get a free bow at the very end of the tutorial out of Helgen, regardless of if you asked for one. 2. Faendal is a follower that trains you up to level 50 archery, practically for free. 3. Most players do the Companions questline first, and Aela the Huntress is an expert level trainer of archery. Also a follower you can have train you for free. 4. Of all the skills in the game, only archery gets a dedicated minigame that gives you 6 levels of archery through Angi at her camp, regardless of level. 5. You can get arrows for free with NPCs with archery animations, arrows of any type if you can reverse pick them into their inventory. Even if you don't have the patience for that, you can get the bound bow spell, arguably the best spell in the game with an amazing draw speed. Even if you put in the least amount of effort into archery, you're still looking at 81 free levels, and that's enough for every perk in the skill tree.

No the best bow is actually the stalrim ones if you place the chaos enchantment on the stalrim bow or crossbow not only the frost part gets buffed but the hole enchantment coss all 3 element’s are taken as one so if you buff the frost with the stalrim every element gets buffed and if you put the element buffs from destruction and the dragon priest mask that buffs frost the stalrim bow and crossbow are best hands down actuality all stalrim weapons ore best if you use the chaos enchantment
One correction/clarification for your video: 17:50 Ruins Edge- "Randomly applies *ONE* (aka not all) of these effects to the target: Frost, Demoralize, Frenzy, Drain Magica, Paralyze."
@@nemonama I've played every iteration possible of every character archetype. The best archer for me would be nothing but archery, alchemy and some armor. Just 3 skills. Combine this with either shouts or daily powers (you can stack up a ton of them and its very powerful).

Excellent guide and very well made! I got here a bit late and leveled my archery before I learned most of these methods but I still learned several things I had missed. Somehow I have TWO Bows of Shadows, the one you covered and a similar one that is also quite OP. The other one grants permanent invisibility (cloak of nocturnal) while sneaking and faster movement speed called something like cilies footsteps. Fully leveled the damage is (for me anyway) about 75 pts higher than the other BOS (345 vs 270 IIRC) although it lacks the enhanced draw speed. Funny thing is I can't find any reference to this bow anywhere. All I can find are references to the one you covered that you get from In the Shadows when you kill the assassin. Now I am wondering how I got the other bow. I have a bunch of mods installed so maybe from one of those? Anyway, do you know anything about that other BOS? Thanks!
In AE they must've fixed getting the money back from Faendal because the gold is no longer available for me when I request to trade items or pickpocket him.
Also, is is possible to disenchant the bow of shadows to learn its enchantment so I can make one and upgrade it first or do I need to spend the perk to upgrade magical weapons to level it up?
Get as much iron ore from as many mines as you can and buy as much iron ore as you can transmute during your play here and there and collect and disenchant as many items as you can. Happy hunting.

Max archer critical and core strength
Attack
And in-between Maxing your smithing out and making plenty of jewelry you can enchant and sell
Or use to max out your archery attack keep an eye out for smithing potions and enchanting potions stock them up along your travels as they can increase your max effectiveness as an archer.
Happy hunting.

Why don't you use Faendal up to level 50 like everyone else?🤔
Can you include the mods you use in these vids?
