Love the videos, keep them coming! It’s so nice to watch raw tree videos without all the fancy editing. I do tree work all day and absolutely love to see others and how they perform the same task. Love it. Thank you for taking the time to share. Be safe
Thank you Mike, that means a lot. I do exactly the same😄. I do love making the edit type videos but must admit, I have enjoyed putting together the raw ones of late too. Thanks for the support - climb safe.
you get used to what tree species can hold your weight. The majority of your weight is in the rope, It can get a little nervy at times. All part of the fun though.
i have two big beech tree's in my garden, that are very over grown, but as I have already spent around £2,000 on tree work I have decided I aint spending anymore, so I have got a harness climbing rope a lanyard and a top handle pruning chain saw, and I am getting my arse up the tree and pruning it myself, what could possibly go wrong ha ha.
lol, i can guess at some of what would be on the list, but i am going to try and be very careful, and if i reach a point that i feel i am really pushing my luck, i will stop :-)
You can prune beech trees anytime of year but if there is an option, it is best to do the work over the autumn and winter months here in the UK. Particularly any heavy pruning.
It's up to you. If you can do it that way great. On reductions I always start with the top - setting the height. Then just shape from there. Any thinning is done as you go around the tree.
@@MattGlynn cheers mate . Appreciate it . I’ve managed to talk myself in to a contract with the local housing and they’ve put me onto a nhs health centre that needs some pruning back on a beech tree. Only passed my assessments in December so not many hours under the belt yet
Beech trees like this are always fun.especially when ur allowed to prune it properly and dont get.. Its OK but can we have a it more off plz, which happens allll the time lol.
Yes it does. I did a heavy crown lift on the building side as a jacuzzi was being installed and they wanted lots of clearance. It wasn't ideal but manage to have it in keeping with the tree. Thanks for the comments Ross!
@@MattGlynn cheers I use the Petzl rollclip in the same situation but Petzl told me it wasn’t to be used in that configuration , what’s the story with the DMM version ?
@@MattGlynn yeah that was my response but the rep from Petzl said they’d never stand over it if there was an accident as it shouldn’t be used in that way ??
WOW our magnificent Beech is having this treatment next Friday, now I can see whats involved....well done guys
That's great thanks for watching.

Nice work mate. Keep up the good pruning 👌🏻👍🏻
Thanks Mick, means a lot 👍🏼
crazy thin branches that you were standing on at the top, must be scary being that hi on such thin branches.

great to watch, nice one
cheers, glad you enjoyed it.
Will beech tree roots push through a house’s concrete foundation?
Good question, im pretty sure they could technically if big enough. A tree this size would need to be a lot closer to the house though.

The trouble is even if you don't mess yourself up, you could mess the tree up by taking too much off at the wrong points.
What time of the year is best to trim beech trees? Fri Sept

When pruning would you not start thinning out the bottom first ? Got my first big tree on tomorrow for pruning 😅
Just found you on insta too , you from Manchester ?
@@chrisjohn3194 I'm from Wigan, not far from Manchester.

Hi , what version of rolling carabiner are you using at your anchor point ?
Hi, it's the DMM Rig, awesome carabiner!

@@richie1593 Not in that figuration? What are you supposed to use it for then? Its a rated pulley so I just use it.
