  • SRT removal of a small Maple. This was the first of six trees to be removed that week from a street in Manchester, UK.
    I access the tree on climbing spikes and using double rope (DRT) and then work around the tree using single rope (SRT). I also use a home made neck tether for the first time to capture rope slack in my SRT system.

    What would you recommend the best way to be a Arborist? Start as a laborer or go get your CS30,31,38,39 and then apply for somewhere. As most places I've noticed needs at least 1 year experience and are not willing to take on a newly qualified, maybe I'm wrong there but it's what I have noticed. Keep up the videos bud.

      I would get some of the basic tickets to gain as much experience as possible. Aim high! Have a look on my channel there is a couple videos of how to become an Arborist. Job adverts are not set in stone. Good tree lads are had to find, speak to company's yourself. If you are hard working and keen to learn someone will take you on.

    How do you like the chicane? Tbh I run a rope wrench on it since it works fine, though I know they don't recommend it. Good safe work. Climb high!

      @MattGlynn  3 роки тому

      Hi, yes its good. It is however the only SRT set up I have used so I can't say what the rope wrench is like in comparison.I would imagine the chicane is optimum for the Zigzag.

    Those pfanner nanoshield jackets are so nice. Do you like the chicane enough you aren’t looking for something else (rope runner, etc.)? I’m probably going to get a unicender because they just have them hanging on the wall at this tool rental place nearby. I’m like “whaaa??”

    • @MattGlynn
      @MattGlynn  3 роки тому

      I don't know what jacket you mean? I'm wearing a Harkie in this video. I just use the chicane because thats what I have. It goes with my zig zag so makes sense.....yes though, get on the uni sender! we can't get them very easily in the uk.

    • @briankennedy1313
      @briankennedy1313 3 роки тому +1

      Matt Glynn the nanoshields look a lot like the Harkies and I keep seeing them on honeybros.com. I’ve been needing a rain jacket and of course it need to be hi viz. But yes I know about the unicender. I can’t believe they were just hanging on the wall at a tool rental. I mentioned something and the guy said whoever orders merchandise was a climber.

    Greetings from the US! I am a 6 year arborist from The Pacific Northwest. I am looking to relocate to either the UK or Germany in the next year. Any advice on how I could find a good employer? Are y’all hiring? ISA(US) help with employment opportunities? Thanks in advance and awesome climbing my friend!

    • @MattGlynn
      @MattGlynn  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Caleb, Thats a big move! I would say look for professional outfits that are well established. arbjobs.com is a great place to look for jobs in the Uk. Most major employers advertise on there. Failing that Mabie just contact a few companies to where you want to relocate to. In all honesty though if your in the Pacific Northwest I wouldn't come the the UK for tree work.🤣
