I'm a Venezuelan now living in the UK, the second song makes me remember and miss the beaches of my country so much, driving and having fun with warm weather and sunny days, better times we had before the crisis started. Thanks for this Jenny and the Mexicats!
THIS THIS THIS is the reason I don't listen to radio anymore, very very very little few stations play music that worth to listen rather than hear . All the pop music, all the "moment billboard" top 10, has nothing against this . Thanks NPR for promoting so many great artists that otherwise I wouldn't had never know they existed. Listening this while on my lunch and I can't wait to get home to listen more .
I'm agree, a lot of music played are very bad (on Radio stations) and the question will be ... Why the radio stations only play several groups, several songs?. They repeat the music ill the day . We have a lot of new good music available, new groups also.
I am very lucky to be able to pick up a public radio station out of spindale NC ,wncw, that plays this music and alot of other great music you cant hear anywhere else. The mexicats, yo mammas big fat booty band, jj grey and mofro, samantha fish, and southern culture on the skids just to name a few.
I love to see women play the trumpet, trombone or any wind instrument! Something so cool about it 💪💪 I love that all of these musicians are 100% into their music. You can see they’re all fully invested 💕
I've been listening to this almost everyday during the COVID pandemic. Very happy musica! Get Jenny and the Mexicats back on soon NPR! Mucho Gracia 1....2....3... Caguama!
What a great band. All songs are beautiful. But the song "The Song for the UV House Mouse" was wonderful! WOW! Jenny sang in a very special voice, especially the part sung in a low voice was something fantastic. I've never heard anything so beautiful. Congratulations! Great sound NPR Music.
Imagine a nice restaurant with a large patio at the beach. In the sunset, Mexicat is playing for the dining guests there. Warm breezes and their music would be like heaven.
Recuerdo cuando mi banda les abrió en Tijuana por ahí del 2014-15, terminando el show me fui corriendo a acampar con unos amigos, tuve una noche de lo mejor, tocando a casa llena y terminando en medio de la nada, viendo las estrellas..
I'm glad I fell for them on audio first; if I had seen them first I would never be sure my love was based on the music: Jenny is so pretty she melts me. I love the whole group!
I listen to this every day I still never get bored of the melodies and compositions, I don't understand a word of spanish but its divine!! music has no language barrier.. amazing band! everyone is awesome in they own way!!
If you like these guys give THe Cat Empire a listen, and let me know what you think! (They are very diverse so sample a few songs... live shows are amazing.)
Saw them a couple years ago when visiting my hometown of El Paso, Texas. They were awesome and certainly had the crowd on their feet and dancing. This performance shows their versatility from the big stage to a tiny desk.
I discovered Jenny and the Mexicats with this video.I love this band so much. I never understood "a voice" as an instrument until I heard Jenny singing. I listen to at least one song a day but that usually leads to many. It's just so hard to stop listening. Every song is great. Long live Jenny and the Mexicats!
I just love these guys, they're absolutely fantastic! We play them them at all our family barn parties, Now THERE'S a party until the sun comes up! Keep the music going!
f***en love this mix or beat, soul, and good vibes of the lovely world. love seeing a base of where lots can enjoy many, many skills on the art of instruments and the vocals ranging in many stars here.
First i want to thank NPR and Tiny Desk team for allowing me to find new amazing artists. And then i want to say that Jenny and the Mexicats, Mon Laferte, Monsieur Perine and Natalia Lafourcade are FREAKING AMAZING!!!! I hope i ll get to see them live one day.... what an amazing group of true artists...
Really enjoy this tiny desk concert every time I watch it. I have lost count as to how many times. True professionalism shines through as I see how all of you are lost in the music performance and singing zones! Best Wishes.
Since it's a bit hard to make out the names Jenny says in the last song, the names of the performers are: Jenny Ball - Trumpet/Vocals Jorge Carlos Sapién-Garza - Electric Guitar Icho - Bass Santiago Ortiz-Betanzos - Percussion David Gonzalez Bernardos - Cajon Grant Jefferies - Piano Pantera Mexicat - Acoustic Guitar
Love them! Great energy, they are super nice and talented!!! And she is an angel, yes. She can sing, she can play the trumpet and introducing the band is professional, respectful and nice! Thank you Jenny and the Mexicats!
Love them, so unique, so different! What a mixture, wow! fun music, they are tight sounding. I can't imagine why anyone would give anything but a thumbs UP! What's not to love? They definitely put on a "show", they are professionals!
I have been to 2 concerts already, it's a FANTASTIC vibe people, totally recommend going, I'd be there as many times as they come close to where I live.
Wowww que excelente presentación en este espacio de Jenny and The Mexicans y vaya que varios grupos muy importantes se han presentado, que chingon. MX/ES/INGL
Wow! What an incredible 15 minutes! I need to hear more from this band but until then, I will come back to this video repeatedly! The entire band was on point and a joy to watch and listen to. Thank you!
Thank God for NPR Music and Tiny Desk - it exposes you to so much wonderful and completely unexpected music. I've been playing music since the 1960s and it takes something really good to excite me. This is the ultimate feel good music - and Jenny is hot, to say the least!
Their deep knowledge/ understanding of music and technical skill allows them to be incredibly charismatic and laid back at the moment of truth (playing live), with no nervousness at all...
I get a sence of street music with this band, in most the positive way! Like someone mixed up guys from the sidewalks of Barselona, London and New Orleans and gave them a proper exposure as many of them deserve... Great stuff!
@Sal Lopez Never been there, I guess they have some good street music? Anyhow, Mexican vibe is obvious, I was just comparing to some other places and influences. Cheers!
I just can't stop watching this,.....again and again and again.....They KICKED A$$ with their performance here! ......and then there's Jenny to add waaaaaaay more appeal!
Sigo su carrera desde que empezaban, son de las bandas que no les hace justicia el marketing, ojalá pronto logren el reconocimiento que merecen xq calidad hay y de sobra... animo!!
Ö _ I saw them live in Tijuana, Mex. Got to meet them back stage for a sec. They were prett drunk and unengaged but they're awesome performers! I'm an OG fan of theirs and invite as many people as possible to love them too!!
Just discovered this band today thanks to NPR. What a fantastic ensemble and sound! Jenny is a captivating and very talented frontwoman that is not overshadowing the band, their sound truly shines and comes together, very subtly, more than the sum of it's parts. Amazing audio as always, NPR!

You people must watch them live, i had the oportunity in Parral Chihuahua, they were amazing, they can make you feel that energy that make you dance all night long!
What a fantastic group! Been listening to them since their first album. I'm excited about their current US dates and the increased exposure. TD never disappoints. I wish the group continued and greater sucess.
This is my favorite TDC, which says a lot. What a fun set. I've had dozens of views, like so many other folks have. It never gets old. It's even MUCH MORE better with a Kawama. 😁😎
It's Monday morning. In my country it's autumn, a horrible day. It's a national holiday but I still have to work. I get out to have lunch. A quick and indigestible lunch. Later, when I finally got back to my house, I found an NPR notification about J & TMC ... I could end a horrible day smiling from ear to ear and dancing ... "A ella no le gusta trabajar..." :-)
