Since he's a caring guy and wants to be MANLY, I'm guessing he is pretty self conscious when he wants to help people, not just protecting.
I seriously want more people to make analytical videos like this about Kirishima. He's such a damn good character. His story is relatable, hits a lot closer to home, and his goals, while equally as ambitious as everyone else's in a sense, aren't as far-fetched as say Midoriya or Bakugou's goals, while still maintaining the core of what makes people want to be heroes. Midoriya is a kid who is blindsided by his devotion to All Might, and while you could say Kirishima's admiration for Crimson Riot is the same, Midoriya inheriting All Might's quirk and naming his every move after All Might's ones puts Midoriya's inspiration a little higher than Kirishima's. Point is, Midoriya is attempting to fit into All Might's shoes, and Bakugou is in it for the pride. He wants to surpass All Might; be number one. Kirishima has a more relatable than deku, because he stood there in fear, like most do, and has a more relatable backstory than todoroki while still keeping the sympathetic feeling towards him. He's also more calm than bakugoe, and has a more 'grounding' personality.

What I like about Kirishima is that you can tell he has these doubts from the VERY BEGINNING. In his first actual conversation with Deku, he says his quirk will never compare to Bakugou and Todoroki's. Only for Deku to try to reassure him.
As of the most recent poll, he's #4 with Bakugou, Deku and Torodroki taking 1-3 respectively. One of the stronger points is just how thing influence characters and their changes to it.

Kirishima struggles with depression, that's takes form of self doubt. He shows all signs of depression. And considering the author writing style, it's not always clear that it is depression. It's is a cartoon after all

Kirishima has always been one of my favourite characters from BNHA (other than Bakugou and Hatsume). I love how his character is designed and his whole story arc. Kirishima wanted to be a hero, he wanted to be like his idol (Crimson Riot). But he is faced with fear. He overcomes it and only grows stronger with each episode. I admire him for alot of things. And its hard to talk about all the reasons why in just this simple comment.
Kirishima is best boy and my favorite character because he is basically the "perfect combination between Deku and Bakugou" The LunchTime Crew did a character review on him and said this. He has the passion and tenacity of Bakugou, but also a naturally kind and openly caring like Deku.
This video was horribly timed. We just learned more about Kirishima's backstory in the episode released today, and although you were close on a couple of points, there was information in the episode that you could not have known otherwise. Aside from that, I like that Kirishima's take on manliness. It isn't about making yourself feel strong, it's about being strong enough to protect those that need it. His ideals also show what true courage is; to move even when your body is telling you not to. You also brought up Tetsutetsu, and in the manga, he is doing things as part of his training that allow him to differentiate himself from Kirishima.

Btw you can tell his hair wasn't red in junior high when Mina saw him on the first day of UA and laughed at him saying "you really dyed it?" He also takes 3 mins to spike his hair in the morning aha. I love him because his design and what makes him stands out is what he worked at himself. Just like how he is hardworking and trying his best.

I want more ichirou kirashima. I want it enough that i learned his full name and look for him in the background constandly. He is not an extra or side character. If the flot switched and we got a stand alone episode with just him and his thoughts. I would be fine. Sidenote - i believe ship wars would be less if we knew a lot of the characters orientation. Like in the show Kipo. People are dying for a taste of their ship. I think unlike in 'friends' where everyone had a will they wont they thing going on. In my hero accedemia, it like everyone falls for all the characters and ,like a mom, just want to match them up with someone that could bring them happiness and us some fluff. Fluff for life.
Kirishima is one of my favorites not just cus of how character, but cus he reminds me of myself. He cares about everyone else and does what he can to defend and help others, yet he constantly doubts himself and feels he is worthless. As a writer and wanna be entertainer this feeling hinders me a lot, but like Kirishima I have people to help encourage me despite how I feel.

I never knew why I liked kirishima until season 4. The self doubt that kirishima feels is pretty similar to me. I always feel like I’m not good enough and seeing that in a story about people with superpowers who should have no self doubt is pretty refreshing.
As a timid girl, Kirishima's character design is kinda scary to me. Spiky hair, sharp teeth, his entire quirk, red, red, intimidating RED. And yet the shape of his eyes (big, bright and rounded) neutralizes all that and he comes off as approachable and cute. And he's easily one of my favorite characters.

Kirishima’s real hair color is black. It actually takes him three minutes to prepare his hair for the day. Not sure if it also includes dyeing it, but it’s impressive.

I tell them Kirishima and Deku, they always are like: what, why? you dont even do or like exercise like them. you are not loud, and you're not an extrovert like Kirishima. you are way too shy. then, i show them this video. I think kirishima (and deku) is the character who resembles me the most, cuz i see myself as if im not good enough, i struggle everyday at being better, but i always think and see myself as a failure, while other people might not see it that way. im not so smart, im not that fit, and i have lack of confidence on myself (just like kirishima). I struggle on defending myself from others (but if is about someone messing with my friends, i totally can kick someone's ass). So yeah. also, I love your videos, they really get to explain theis points on characters that many people might not see by themselves.
1:28 objection! your honor. you see, when he still had black hair he wasn't strong at all and seemed to have been as strong as any normal guy his age. but since his body exterior hardens and he's jacked as balls, he's able to punch through very hard materials. one of the things stopping me from punching through a window is simply the fact that it'll hurt like a bitch and that my fist is too soft, if you get what i'm saying. it's hard to explain. anyway, that was just a nitpick, great video overall! :D

kirishima is my favorite character because *god **_dammit_** is having self doubt relatable* . it's something i struggle with on a very severe level, to the point that it's just complete self hate, so seeing a character from a show that you like with the same problem is just... nice. it makes you feel less alone, in a way.
IKR! I am tecnically "the class clown" but, I come back home and all of the anxiety and depression comes crawling back.... I keep spotting correlations between me and Kirishima. Like, him dyeing his hair and constantly trying to be so over the top, and me trying to make my classmates laugh. Just so we can keep your own thoughts and insecurities away....... Plus I'm a amateur (more on the noob side) artist with cripling self critisim, discrediting and all around terrible pesimist so that's fun!...

Kirishima has always been one of my favourite characters from BNHA (other than Bakugou and Hatsume). I love how his character is designed and his whole story arc. Kirishima wanted to be a hero, he wanted to be like his idol (Crimson Riot). But he is faced with fear. He overcomes it and only grows stronger with each episode. I admire him for alot of things. And its hard to talk about all the reasons why in just this simple comment.
He also looks kinda like a dragon when he's in unbreakable

Kirishima is best boy and my favorite character because he is basically the "perfect combination between Deku and Bakugou" The LunchTime Crew did a character review on him and said this. He has the passion and tenacity of Bakugou, but also a naturally kind and openly caring like Deku.
This video was horribly timed. We just learned more about Kirishima's backstory in the episode released today, and although you were close on a couple of points, there was information in the episode that you could not have known otherwise.
Aside from that, I like that Kirishima's take on manliness. It isn't about making yourself feel strong, it's about being strong enough to protect those that need it. His ideals also show what true courage is; to move even when your body is telling you not to.
You also brought up Tetsutetsu, and in the manga, he is doing things as part of his training that allow him to differentiate himself from Kirishima.

- Deku didn't have a quirk, but he was at least clever.
- He didn't feel fear , his legs moved without even wanting.
- He worked hard and got even a better result for it.

- Had a quirk but it wasn't strong , and kinda useless. Also his grades weren't really good.
- He did feel fear. But he fought to help Fat even though he felt fear. IT'S SOMETHING REALLY HARD TO DO SOMETHING YOU FEAR. Example you can't stand in front of a lion because you are scared of it. But *KIRISHIMA DIDN'T CARE ABOUT HIS FEAR AND FOUGHT.* I mean you see how manly it is, right?
- He worked really hard, about his quirk and grades. He even hurt himself for getting stronger. He worked as hard as Deku, but no one gave him one for all or something. Deku was lucky. But Kirishima got stronger thanks to his hard work. While others could have equal power with Kirishima without not working at all, Kirishima had to work really hard for it and he still feels not good enough. Because he doesn't have a special move or something, all he can do was hardening. He really feels useless and he also thinks he is just an extra, he thinks that he can't do anything without others help, like he is most likely Bakugou's helper. The poor baby shark really underestimates hisself... But still working and didn't give up. *THAT'S WHY I LOVE KIRISHIMA MOST,HE IS MANLY AND THE AUTHOR DIDN'T FORCE HIM TO BE PERFECT. LIKE IN MOST OF STORIES, MAIN CHARACTERS ARE ALWAYS OVER POWERED WHICH DOESN'T MAKE SENSE, OR FEARLESS AND IT ALSO DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. I LOVE REALISTIC CHARACTERS MORE. I want more ichirou kirashima. I want it enough that i learned his full name and look for him in the background constandly. He is not an extra or side character. If the flot switched and we got a stand alone episode with just him and his thoughts. I would be fine.

Kirishima is one of my favorites not just cus of how character, but cus he reminds me of myself. He cares about everyone else and does what he can to defend and help others, yet he constantly doubts himself and feels he is worthless. As a writer and wanna be entertainer this feeling hinders me a lot, but like Kirishima I have people to help encourage me despite how I feel.
i dont think hes done with doubting himself either :( one thing that makes me sad is that he compares himself to other people when they should be paying attention to how great kirishima is 🥱 i feel like he gives us good representation, like how one thing can fix everything in other shows. i also am 99% sure that he is queer coded, by just analyzing text and word meanings anyway. i will say, he's literally a gay stereotype in japan. (i dont ship him with anyone, so im not bias i dont think.) i just thinks its really refreshing having a genuinely relatable character like him in a shounen anime, saying that a lot of the time characters that have self esteem issues are like "i suck :(((( *cry*" (and im not talking about tamaki btw) just the fact that hes masking it so well that no one really notices or its out of the norm to talk about it really hits home. like when he said "im just thinking out loud!" when sero asked why he was whiny, sorta makes you think thats just what he thinks like. also i think he looks up to bakugou, because hes so confident about himself, its almost like they were complete opposites when they were kids. WAR ARC SPOILERS ⚠️⚠️ he looked so sad and tired in the recent chapters, you can see in one of the panels with his hair down his roots are growing in :( and UA doesnt allow dyed hair so youd think as soon as you could see a bit of black he'd dye it i guess- kinda implying that hes not taking care of himself D:< ik thats a reach but still. m just saying i love him very much and i would die for him amen

I never knew why I liked kirishima until season 4. The self doubt that kirishima feels is pretty similar to me. I always feel like I’m not good enough and seeing that in a story about people with superpowers who should have no self doubt is pretty refreshing.
As a timid girl, Kirishima's character design is kinda scary to me. Spiky hair, sharp teeth, his entire quirk, red, red, intimidating RED. And yet the shape of his eyes (big, bright and rounded) neutralizes all that and he comes off as approachable and cute. And he's easily one of my favorite characters.

If Kirishima was more intelligent and driven to aim for the top, he would have been potential candidate to wield one for all.
1:28 objection! your honor. you see, when he still had black hair he wasn't strong at all and seemed to have been as strong as any normal guy his age. but since his body exterior hardens and he's jacked as balls, he's able to punch through very hard materials. one of the things stopping me from punching through a window is simply the fact that it'll hurt like a bitch and that my fist is too soft, if you get what i'm saying. it's hard to explain. anyway, that was just a nitpick, great video overall! :D
