When Shadow Moon is released from prison, he meets the mysterious Mr. Wednesday and a storm begins to brew. Little does Shadow know, this storm will change the course of his entire life. Left adrift by the recent, tragic death of his wife, and suddenly hired as Mr. Wednesday’s bodyguard, Shadow finds himself in the center of a world that he struggles to understand. It’s a world where magic is real, where the Old Gods fear both irrelevance and the growing power of the New Gods, like Technology and Media. Mr. Wednesday seeks to build a coalition of Old Gods to defend their existence in this new America, and reclaim some of the influence that they’ve lost. As Shadow travels across the country with Mr. Wednesday, he struggles to accept this new reality, and his place in it.

Funny how it's a recurring theme in this show, trickster gods teaching Shadow lessons and him failing to understand the meaning behind them. In the same way even. He overcomplicates things.
Man, I could spent hours listening to this guy telling a story...
Pao pizza same
Pao pizza same man
Pao pizza same here
Yeah
Every workplace has this person
Low Key knows not to mess with United
United bad ass.
lmfao
These characters seem so tough to pull off in film and yet these guys are KILLING IT.
It's because the pressure of millions of dollars cause the directors to strangle the artists ability to act and editing as well. This scene would never make it into a film because it is too polarizing.
@@leoscarpoli1nonly - What's "polarizing" about this scene? 🥴🙄 lmao Really??
You notice that when Low Key mimics the alarm, it sounds like a raven?
There is just something so satisfying about listening to the cadence of his speech
This actor has the right amount of shady spliced with street savoire faire and tough gangsta. This Loki I love as much as Marvel's Thor's Loki. I hope to see this guy again in later seasons.
@@Essylte Loved the actor in Justified
Very cleverly done, A trickster deity incarnate as a cunning street smart criminal who dispenses practical advice (to a future problem) in a deliberately ambiguous manner? That's low Key Locksmith on lock (all punz)!
Lyesmith
Pick two they’re due.
It’s Crazy When You Realize He’s Mr. World Too
This is surprisingly a very good Loki. Wish he would appear more.
Loki is Mr. World
@@colelavancha2326 He's bOth.
his name might be a dead giveaway but i seriously didn't realise he was loki
Me neither! 🤦🏻♀️🙃 lmao
Mr. World
You could say he was teaching shadow to be smart. He was actually teaching shadow not to think too far into it. Sometimes the lesson is at the beginning of the story. Do not piss off those bitches in airports.
I remember reading him in the book and being impressed at how clever his name was... Low Key would be a street name for someone trying to stay off the radar... But then it translates into Loki.... Loved that...
Perfect actor for Low Key Lyesmyth and he is right don't piss off airports like United Airlines. Read the book and so far it looks great! Can't wait til next Sunday! Great casting!
Only thing missing is the red hair. Great acting though!
We needed more of low key!!! We need a low key and mad sweeney scene
so much spoilers in the comments, good thing I've read the book before
Honestly those little tusks really did it for me. Make him look otherworldly before Shadow was aware of the deeper layers of the world.
Low Key is low key my favorite character.
That's actually good advice. LOL.
helped me once.
Please for the love of GOD (or Gods) bring back Jonathan Tucker. Like... he has maximum 2 minutes in the very first episode of the first season , that's it and istg he's still the most memoriable character. He's a phenomenal actor and absolutely perfect as Low Key. I NEED more of him 😭
If they're wise they will - you don't introduce a character in the first episode unless you see that character at least once more later. Then again they wrote Anansi off the show so if I'm honest I'm starting to doubt their writing skills - both want to stop watching the show but also want to know if it'll finish differently from the book.
I'm still waiting for Jonathan Tucker on Season 2. Such an actor. He fits perfect in the American Gods ambient.
Jonathan Tucker is a phenomenal actor, I’d highly recommend watching Kingdom with his portrayal of Jay Kulina.
I’m looking forward to his return in Season 2 of American God’s aswell as his future work in Westworld and Ben Affleck & Matt Damon’s upcoming show, City on a Hill.
Holy shit I've seen this dude before but I had no idea he had those kinds of acting chops. Man what an introduction!
Uncle Loki dropp’n dem jewels of knowledge
Best flashback in the history of flashbacks.
I'm so glad I read the book. There are so many spoilers in these comments be warned.
I hope they don't change the twist ending from the book in the series. POSSIBLE SPOILERS:
When I found out the ending I kept imagining a certain someone doubling in this scene up with laughter in any of the forms they choose to take at at least half the other characters in this show because when you think about it, it is a pretty good prank.
love Low Key's voice
JONATHAN TUCKER? JAY?! HYPED!
Josh R. S. Completely forgot he was in this. Wasn't planning to watch it, but now i feel like i have no choice. well done, Starz.
00:50 that look...I would like to watch jonathan tucker as joker
Tom Hiddleston is great, but this is my Loki. He knows how to get through life on nothing but street smarts and a little magic. Cannot wait for this show!

((God, don't spoil it for people who haven't read the book))
I guess I thought it was obvious, and from what I can tell, it's been spoiled already. ;) Don't stress; the show will be enjoyable either way. The story's quality doesn't rest on finding out who Wednesday and Low Key are; it's far more interesting than that.
Low Key being Loki may have been a surprise in the book, because you don't actually say his name out loud. In the show it's going to be obvious right from the start
Thought Shadow was kind of stupid on not picking that up until nearly the end.
Why? If you had a friend who's name was Low Key would you just assume he's a Norse god?
He's so good in everything he's in, from 100 Girls to Justified to this.
In the book it is even more sad what happens to the guy with the expired id
I would love to see a fight of Low Key vs Technical Boy, that would be the most unpredictable scene ever. They are my favourite caracters. Or just an encounter of them 👌👌👌
But Technical Boy technically
SPOILERS
works for Low Key
@@iandavidsson5674 man thats awesome kinda like a diffrent sort of ragnarök
@@iandavidsson5674 is SPOILER
Low key aka loki kills tecnical boy
Amazing direction given to actors in this series, and just brilliant performance by all actors especially this actor who played the personification of Loki god of lies and mischief. Is loki secretly amusing himself by the reality that balder doesn't know who he is?
You think Shadow is Baldur?
Can't wait to see this show..
i love the book now im about to try this series out, i know his the one behind everything including the mr. wednesday at the end
I like this Low Key.
I really liked this character and it's known in Norse Mythology that Loki is a clever storyteller and liar, but what I really liked and I don't know if it was intentional or not but before he starts to tell the story he acknowledges the heavens as if asking the gods to inspire his storytelling ability which is something a lot of the old Greek stories do to.
Mr. World
Really wanted to see more of him
I wish he would've been part of the show hes great.its loki sending shadow to Odin.made sure he got on the same plane as Odin they obviously been working together. World is loki thatsvwhx he can transform into anyone
Had they continued the series, Mr.World would come out as Loki.
Perfection!
El mejor personaje!
tremenda serie!!!
I love this show
Hope he comes back on the show
This was Mr World the whole time !
The best!
I adore that half these comments are fan theories, hiddleston bashing or spoilers and the other half is about the coat.
cant wait
I wanted to see more of him
Why was he only in 1 episode... i want to see him more
Don't worry, if the writers of the show are wise they'll either stick to the original ending of the book or (even if they do change it) will remember the most important rule of storytelling - you never introduce anyone or anything to a story unless it comes back later. Even if it's just a main character noticing someone walking out of the store at the beginning of the story and then briefly noticing the same person walking out of the same or a different store at the end of the story, you have to bring them back at least once throughout the story.
I'm genuinely disappointed that Prison Loki wasn't in Loki, him and gator Loki are the dream team
This gon be good
low key - loki?
Read a book, Imp.
sorryyyy
Smith of Lyes
Yes
wednesday - wodinsday?
That Sherpa Overcoat is nice. Loki got good fashion sense.
I really wish a Thor was going to be in this somewhere...
If you haven't read the book, here is a spoiler warning:
It is mentioned that Thor committed suicide a few decades before the events of the story, however it is also mentioned that gods don't properly die off and can come back in some capacity under the right circumstances. For this reason I kind of think of the main character of Shadow as being a reincarnation of Thor; he is after-all the son of Odin and repeatedly has weird dreams revolving around storms.
Interesting! I read the book, and knew Thor wasn't around anymore, but I never thought about that! Maybe Czernabog and the hammer are some kind of symbolism too...
Robert Winslade spoilers
Shadow is Baldr what was proved in "The Monarch of the Glen"
Yeah, I just found that out myself, I'm obviously not familiar enough with Norse Mythology and should get on with reading Gaiman's book about it.
Robert Winslade N Spoilers
it's revealed in a short story Monarch of the Glen from the Short story collection Fragile Things that Shadows true name is actually Baldur
Best advise EVER!!! 👏 😜
I love you Jay Kulina
Why can't I remember him or this bit in the show
Guys...............Low-Key is a low-key way of spelling Loki while Lyesmith hides two words, lie and smith (maker of, works with). So he's Loki the Liesmith which is true to from since he is the god of tricks, lies and mischief. I figured this out without reading the book and turned out I was right. I blew my own mind.........
i came here to be sure if jonathan tucker reminds me gary oldman so much or not but i suddenly realised that he is loki.woaaaa
I say and post this all the time now when appropriate
Zussman has been through some tough sh*t after coming home from WW2 since he ended in jail.
I can see him as the next joker
I want that coat !!! please how can i find it to buy it
Low Key Lyesmith? Would that possibly be the trickster god giant Loki?
Pure coincidence i am sure ;)
who’s better at giving advise, Loki or Anansi?
be careful, Loki was the father of lies before satan/Lucifer stole that title from him.
Hey! Its me!
Loki Lyesmyth is it really you? Is it really me?
Hay what up
Loki it's like listening to honey dripped through your ear, he wouldn't be a God of chaos though if he couldn't fuck with your mind. One thing we know about gods actually 2 but 1) they are inifnitely and annoyingly good at their subset of skills 2) never piss off a god. There's a 3 but if you didn't get 1 and 2 you aint ready for that yet.
They should’ve given Low Key a bigger role in the show just like in the book.
this was originally johnnie larch's speech though, right?
That is correct. I'm a little disappointed that they put Johnnie Larch's foolish conclusion ("don't piss off those bitches in airports") in the mouth of Loki, an extremely intelligent character. But maybe Loki is supposed to be sarcastic here?
Sounds like wise advice to me - given recent events.
Low Key = Loki = Mr. World = The failed magic guy who framed Tech boy in Chicago Expo
Does anyone know what jacket Lowkey is wearing in the airport?
looks like bizzy bone from bone thugs n harmony
oh man
I'ts gonna be hard for the main protagonist to keep up with these sort of characters!
Low-key was the best thing about the show.
Try watching the show first
brother to brother talk
LOKI AND ODIN ARE BEHIND IT ALL.
Low Key... Lo Ki... Loki.
The guy from Hostage lol
Jonathan Tucker is like the american Ramsey Snow
LOW KEY = LOKI
wow
Can someone tell me what accent that is
why did mr world ask shadow "have we met ?" but he already met shadow as low key
Mr Odin provocation 🐱👌
Because Shadow doesn't know that 1, Low Key was Loki, and 2, that Mr World is Loki? He is mascarading as Mr. World, who is supposed to be meeting Shadow for the first time, why would he give himself away?
Starz? Is American gods coming to Disney plus??
HYPE HYPE HYPE
he's good in kingdom
He was also in NBC Hannibal (also created by Bryan Fuller) as Matthew Brown, the crazy nurse who was obsessed with Will. :D
I really liked him and was bummed he was only in a couple episodes, so I was beyond jazzed when it was announced he was gonna be in this. :)
Jonathan Tucker was also great in Justified's amazing Final Season.
Memphis Ashes Good is an understatement!
Jonathon Tucker is so fuckin great. One of the next great character actors. Anthony Boyle, Paul Dano and Tucker will be the Hoffman, Nicholson and DeNiro of their generation
Better than Tom Hiddleston. Sorry, Tom.
Hiddleston is pure eye candy. :D
Hiddleston is good for what he's doing the same way Chris Hemsworth is good for what is needed. They are not playing the Norse entities, they are playing the marvel comic characters. I mean the Thor of the comics is VERY far from the actual mythological Thor. So their actors are representing the Comic versions and not the myths. Hiddleston is great for that Loki.
But this? THIS is a lot more actual Norse Loki, than a marvel comic character.
wait, wasn't this guy in Westworld
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
Little confused here. I thought that Crispin Glover was going to play Low Key too. Is he a shapeshifter or what? dont really remember that
He is a shapeshifter, yes.
He's playing mr.world
This is Loki But More like DC Universe Not MCU
Where's fire? I need to see some fire here

sorry what kind of accent is this? I am not native English speaker, so I am veeery bad with accents, but this one sounds peculiar. Or is it just his speech and not an accent?
Well the things in his mouth are giving him some extra accent. Beyond that it's just a Boston accent.
Boston
The accent is Boston, but he's also got kind of a speech impediment going on, kind of a strong lisp.
Loki may be a trickster.
But that’s still good advice nonetheless.
Apparently you could basically toss a coin when guessing whether he's an ally or an enemy int the various myths, so it all seems perfectly in character
Loki is deamon 😄
Zussman in prison now
You think you know death? You haven’t known a true thing all your life.
