Just got an email from Pressy regarding lacking sound functionality through phone speaker. Here's the email...
"Hey Lewis, thanks for posting the video about Pressy! We were pleasantly surprised to see it online =]
Just a quick note, that (as you noticed...) a bug with Android 6.0 does prevent sound from playing while Pressy is inserted - but that is NOT the intended or normal behavior. Obviously, that would render Pressy as a pretty useless gadget...
Luckily, we already have a working version with that bug fixed which is going live this week. You should definitely update the app and give it another chance cause it rocks :)
Guess our timing is horribly wrong here with your video going live today, but better late than never I suppose. I know this doesn't normally happen, but we'd be thrilled if you could update your viewers about that bug fix =]

Their app actually makes it so audio keeps getting routed as if nothing was plugged in, so speaker/BT will still work fine.
I think he toggled the mute and never untoggled it in the video.

+apdm actually no. i use this kind of thing. the chinese version of it. it works seamlessly. the speaker still working normally. it's totally useful to have shortcut button. i use it to turn on my flashlight, disable screen timeout, and to take picture instantly (or secretly :D) it just bother me when i want to use headphone, since i have to take it out and it's so tiny. and it only cost like 1-2 bucks

In the pull down menu there's an option to change the audio path so you can direct the sound out of the speakers when that things in.

There is a app called SoundAbout, wich can force sound through speakers even thought you have a headset in. Should work with Pressy. Upvote so more people can see this!

I am actually surprised you only got it now. You are usually the first to get some thing unboxed, but this (the original Xiaomi MiKey) is available for than 3 years now.
I just saw an ad for the Pressy and apparently you can unplug it and use it with headphones which have the control area.

The essential function that needs a one-press trigger is to activate the voice recorder. The iPAQ Pocket PC used this feature, and it was great when driving. If I need to take note of something, I would like to press a button and then talk, without having to activate the phone, go through menus, and then talk.

To make the sound work, you just pull down the screen and in the bottom right hand side, there should be a media output option you can toggle to use the speakers.
You might want to test the Xiaomi version of Pressy.
They call it Xiaomi Mi Key, sell it for $1 and it seems to be working better than the one shown. Also it allows for up to ten clicks, and has no limits on the action a click could trigger.

On your S7 you can actually swipe down the notification shade and you'll see a toggle called "Audio Path" that allows you to change where the sound comes out from, no matter whether you have Bluetooth or physical headphones attached or nothing attached.

The home button does the same thing, except the flashlight. You can ditch the pressy.
I was a Kickstart-backer for this product. The project was funded in 2013 and the product was shipped in april-may 2014. I used it a couple of times but ultimately it never got the functions I wanted so it is collecting dust.
Regarding it shutting off the speakers it is a software malfunction. The reason the app asks if you connected Pressy (every time you connect something to the audio jack) is to make sure you still get sound while using Pressy. I had no problems with this myself and I have never heard of this complaint before. Perhaps the app has not been updated lately - this would not surprise me since the requests of backers have been ignored for years.
I would not recommend this product it unless you KNOW you need it. And make sure what you want to be done is actually supported by the app!!! If you switch a lot (or even moderately) between headphones and Pressy this product is a no go - you will grow tired of it quickly, it is tedious putting it in and out and making sure you don't lose it.
Worth noting is that when your headset is connected you will be able to use the headset as a Pressy button! This product review wasn't very comprehensive since it leaves out some details but I understand the reasoning behind it - why waste time on a buggy product.
All in all this was a cool idea (a couple of years ago) but it failed in the real world. Spend your money wisely...

maybe the app is messing it, im using this for almost an year now, the app i use is keycut or mswitch. it asks whether it is a pressy or headphone each time something is plugged, if u choose headphone, everything works normally but choosing pressy routs the audio through the speaker. try that app lew
you can change the audio output settings to the speakers instead of the auxiliary device.
I don't listen to music on my phone, but it is silly you can't use the speakers at all with this thing.

The NFC button you mention early in the video - is the Dimple.io button. You can use that to launch any app - so you could use it with our audio recorder app for example to start Record/Pause/Stop - play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stereomatch.mp3.audio.recorder - I think the Pressy can be set to launch any arbitrary launcher or action (using AutomateIt! app - according to the Pressy wiki).

MSwitch is an alternative app that works well. i use it, only to switch my phone in to speaker mode(so it ignores the headphone jack) since my phone has shortcuts built in(play pause flashlight and other things)

Plugging anything into the headphone jack actually disconnects your phone's media speakers, and since it gets access to your phone's controls your phone probably thought that this was a headset. It still keeps your secondary speakers alive(the ones that emit ringtones and such), though.

if you use the app klick you can still hear stuff from your phone's speaker even when the button is plugged in.
If you turn on developer mode on Samsung you can set the phone to ignore the input in the headphone jack so it still plays out the speaker. He does a video on "how to speed up any android" and he shows you how to get developer mode. ;)
