This song was always my "when 70's became 80's" moment. Now i'm not claiming Irene started any trends in music or anything, maybe she did, but i'm just saying i was just aware that this song was different from anything 70's and we were in a new time and when i think back to "when did the 80's start" for me it started with this song.
Agreed. Fame the movie dropped in 80 and continued as a series in 82 on. This is definitely symbolic of when the 70s were fading out and emerging in to the sounds of the 80s decade.
