    Hey, this video really motivates me! I had a cancerous tumour that was grown in my left brain when I was 13 years old it had affected my right side’s strength/mobility and has screwed me up ever since. I’m 17 now thinking about what to major in the future I had been always interested in sciences and I think biomedical medical engineering really fits me.

    I did my bachelor’s in environmental science and now I am doing a master’s in ag/environmental engineering. I’m not an engineer by training, nor will I be after my master’s, so I struggle sometimes with more technical aspects though I do have scientific training so it’s not impossible (it’s more so in ecology/biology though).

    Hi, thanks so much for this video! This video reminded me of why I initially decided to transfer to BME., but I've been concerned with Job prospects since most of the internet says companies would rather hire ME, or EE. But after getting accepted into a few colleges I now have to decide between BME or ChemEng(which is more broad), or BioEng with a concentration in Bioinformatics which I fear I'd have to get a master's or PhD to qualify for most of the jobs out there. Do you know stories of anyone in bioinformatics? Also, do you see the potential for you to be promoted at your current job, or do you see yourself staying at the same position for years to come? Thanks Raya!

    • @RayaSunshine
      @RayaSunshine  2 роки тому

      I do not know anyone personally in bioinformatics, but I think it does require at least a master’s to get in! But you can always look at job postings and see what requirements they are looking for. And I’ve been at the same position for going on 2 years, but I’ve transferred to a site that requires a lot more responsibility. And definitely able to see a promotion availability opening up. I haven’t had experience of people wanting a MechE or EE. It’s truly all in your skill set and how you sell yourself. My sister is actually a chemical engineer, so I don’t think you could choose wrong either way!

    I’ve heard that if you would want to into biomed engin you should major in mech engin bc of job markets reasons and employers prefer mechE degree. What’s your take on this

    • @RayaSunshine
      @RayaSunshine  2 роки тому +5

      I haven’t personally seen this! My company would hire a MechE, but almost all of us are biomed. If you wanted to do MechE, and focus on bioengineering, I’d recommend getting a minor that would align!! But I can see that argument, since MechE is even broader than bioengineering. But honestly, any job you’re going to get, you just have to know how to pitch yourself and your skill set!
