Serestro worked the first time but not the second time. Products are very expensive for us. I started feeding my dog Spinosad from liquid concentrate found in the garden section at the farm store. Sometimes it doesn't seem to work but I'm not sure if its a bad batch or not. Spinosad is a bacteria. It is the primary ingredient in the product comfortis. It has a myriad of uses including application for humAn head lice that kills the nits. Believe this. Ive used it on my kids. Safe for mammals and used fir chickens too. For my large dog I feed 1 tbspoon in room temp gravy once a month. In the past we used insecticidal cattle tag. Wed cut a 1 inch square and attached to his collar. Works very well but toxic.
I have been battling fleas every year this time of year no matter what I have tried. I have had cancer twice so the use of chemicals really bothers me and it's the very last thing for me to try, I try to go natural if possible. I know it's not just a matter of putting a collar on or medication in the shampoo for them. Many things are wrapped up in the war with those blood sucking pests. the flea cycle has to be fought with running the sweeper, taking the sweeper outside to empty it away from house each time, washing the beds and blankets of the animals every other day at least, and using something in the perimeter of the yard. I have found that putting baking soda soda a fine layer left on my carpet after running sweeper helps to kill the fleas and eggs in the carpet. It also helps in the furniture of the pets. I also brush my pets with a flea comb and have a bucket of hot soapy water ready because the fleas can't jump up through the soap supposedly. For the biggest part I have found that to be true And have flushed many of those blasted things off to glory lol. Did the new flea color work for you?
We used to use Seresto collar & Frontline. Didn't work very good. Found out Our dog had a allergy issue. We use prescription Nexgard and Cytopoint shot from the vet every month.. We get the Nexgard filled at Costco 6 months for $117.00. Our long hair chihuahua is in heaven nowdays.
Healthy dogs repel fleas (anecdotal account). My adult German Shepard had skin issues most of his life. We constantly battled fleas (dog, house and yard). He died from bloat one night. Eight weeks later we brought home our new puppy (same house, same yard). From the jump the puppy got good food and vitamin supplements (nutrition overkill, I know). The puppies skin was 100% healthy his whole life (died at 13 from cancer). Bottom Line... Same house, same yard, yet the puppy NEVER had any flea problems.
