      He sounded like a grown man when he was still a teenager. One of those really soulful, old-school R&B male voices in the style of Teddy Pendergrass and Marvin Gaye, in that he could go really gritty or really smooth.

    Maaaaannnnn.... Johnny is a WISE MAN... He hit the nail on the head in this interview, especially when he said they can have THEIR OWN... He also kept it classy with his responses which I respect. I pray they can truly reconcile and all be on the same page soon, not just for business but for themselves 🙏 Also, it's imperative to realize and understand that we are on the outside looking in, and will never know everything about people's lives and why they do what they do. We live in the social media age where people seem to feel like they HAVE TO to inspect and speak on every detail about others. I've been seeing people say "why aren't they promoting the movie like the others, there's still issues, they're not getting along, etc."... Johnny said in this interview that he could not promote something that he didn't see the final touches on before it aired, and to be honest THAT'S REAL. I don't blame him. We're so quick to want and expect others to do what we want, how we want, when we want, and how we think they should do things... we don't stop to think about them as individuals with their own lives, values, responsibilities, issues, families, their own minds, etc. If anyone is truly a fan or supporter, they should be praying for these men, not just to make another album for fans to enjoy and be appeased, but pray for their well-being in general. ❤️

    Fun fact Johnny’s manager was Bill Underwood and I was Bill and Angela Underwood’s nanny to his baby son Justin - way back when they had the high rise in downtown Los Angeles and Johnny was his client.
    I was with baby Justin the night Bill and Angela went to the Grammy awards with Johnny and Stacy Lattisaw at the height of their fame omg the times were so exciting back then I found out later that Bill was a big time mobster boy was I clueless.
    Thank goodness I turned down an offer to be nanny at their brownstone in New York- nice couple but he’s in prison for life now. Google his story.

    JG is a class act. He not gone kiss and tell everything that happened between him and Stacy lattisaw. It would be tacky and tasteless for him to do that. What's also impressive is the fact that he had a business mindset at such a young age. He didn't allow himself to be swindled and taken advantage of. He was about his paper. Lastly, why are people so worried about somebody being gay? Stop putting him in the Luther Vandross box. He said he was a grown man, so take it for what it is and just appreciate the good music that he's given us. People not to stop entertaining rumors when they don't even know him. This generation takes rumors and run with it as if it's the truth. People need to quit with all the gossipy shit. It's annoying as af.

      Mike Bivens is responsible for his own fate. He fucked over all his artist. Even worse than Jeryl Bugsby did NE. He didn't support his artist sophomore albums, if they released any. Bivens dropped the ball. Puffy stayed signing one-hit wonders & releasing mostly singles. He could've still driven his clothing line, had a liquor, nightclub, restaurant, TV show. He could've put together a music festival. He ran out of steam.

      SOMEBODYGOTSTOSAYIT Patterson I love new Edition probably one of the biggest fans out there even though I'm 18 and have a couple of there albums but I disagree the movie showed a lot about Ralph and Ricky in my opinion and Ralph didn't do much his solo career... Bobby brown can DEFINITELY have one, Johnny can have a pretty successful one as well.. BBD maybe (they would have to hype it up a lot but I don't think they should because of the tv one documentary). But they should make a Bobby one 100% and possibly a Johnny

    I like Johnny. A lot. He seems like such a 'I'm just happy to be here' team player. And he's honest and forthright without being an ass. Ralph is my favorite member of NE, so it's nice to hear that he and Johnny are still tight. I'm kinda side-eyeing Mike a little more, though. Dude seems like he has some sorta complex/envy issues.

    • @GAshoneybear
      @GAshoneybear 7 років тому +33

      Dominique Yeah, seems like Johnny and Ralph were kindred spirits and had that same laid back personality, which is why they seem to get along so well. The movie made me question Mike and the interview made it worse. On the BBD interview when Mike said about Ralph's record deal that he would have to ask Maurice about it, I'm thinking, "You know Maurice was interviewed and okayed that. So why you gotta ask him about it like Ralph is lying?"

    • @ButterscotchCloud
      @ButterscotchCloud 7 років тому +29

      GAs honeybear My thoughts exactly! Neither Ralph nor Maurice had/have anything to gain from disclosing the possibility of Ralph accepting a solo deal during the embryonic stages of NE's professional career. Rizz doesn't seem like the opportunist, attention-seeking type. I actually see why Ralph kept that from the guys (save Johnny) for all those years. It would've only exacerbated the group's inner turmoil/tensions. And I wish we could hear more of Ronnie and Ricky's perspectives without the input of Mike.

    • @musiclover_kb4913
      @musiclover_kb4913 3 роки тому

      Me too, very chill guy and it's also great that he gets along with Bobby as well. After hearing a few things about Stacy Lattisaw, his more financially stable background and how he felt coming into the group and being at Motown, maybe a solo biopic for Johnny wouldn't be such a bad idea, but I still don't think NE fans would care enough

    Johnny Gill did a very insightful interview about New Edition. I still pray these guys get over their differences, because I hear it is still going on. I pray that God removes the resentment, enviousness, rivalry, proudness, and whatever else is going on between them for years because these guys don't know how Bless they are. To be admired by fans and respected for 31 years is a blessing. Also to be around each other that long through ups and downs, THEY ARE TRUE BROTHERS. They should remember that life is short and one day they will not see each other any longer. Enjoy each other now and Forgive!

      Colossians 3:12‭-‬17 NLT
      Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
      Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
      Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.
      And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

      First Name Last Name Johnny did save New Edition, he was not a drinker or alcoholic as the others were! His way of thinking emerged and he served as a positive brother for the other guys. The level of maturity Johnny brought to New Edition saved them immensely. Let's be clear Johnny opened up a whole new market or demographics for New Edition, the older fans that are accustomed to buying records purchased their music.

I remember being 16 and going to the NE Heartbreak tour in New York city and I was absolutely amazed by the rich powerhouse voice of Johnny Gill! I was in shock , I was wondering who was that singing? He looks young however his voice is to strong to be young! Johnny Gill saved New Edition and opened up a new demographics for New Edition. They were no longer a talented hood group no they became young talented respected vocalists! Johnny Gill also served as the glue of the group. When Michael and Ralph were fighting, Johnny would cool things down. He was always very mature.
