  • Hammered out a copper pipe coupler to make a custom bottle opener. I was afraid the copper would be too soft but it was sufficiently work hardened during the forming.

    That's pretty amazing. I'd never thought of making one of those from scratch.

    Wouldn't have thought copper would be up to the task but you made it work

      yeah i didn't have any experience working copper and was afraid it would be too soft, but i knew that it work hardened and was historically used for some pretty serious tasks so i figured it was worth a shot. I'm please to say that it worked VERY well!

    Great job. Maybe would have been easier to use a coping saw to cut the initial shape, but snips and file worked as well! Cheers

      Yeah probably but i just like files. I have a jewelers saw but i almost never use it unless im doing something very intricate.

    Nice work! How long has it been, and how's it holding up?

    • @TabLeft
      @TabLeft  7 років тому

      +djAnakin thanks! So far it's working great but it's only been a couple weeks of fairly regular use . Time will tell but so far so good and it quite strong so I'm hopeful.

      +Ross Andersen I think I might still have it somewhere in the shop. I'll look for it when I get a moment and post the template in the description
