Me. Scully as a naive 77 years old artist trying to leave abstract expressionism and find a path to simplicity to transfer content of my soul to two dimensional surface. This documentary on Henri Matisse has created a map with what roads to take to that place, simplicity, on a surface as you refer too on your work in a other doc. Thank you very much.
I didn't known this film. A great journey into Matisse's art whith analysis by Sean Scully which couldn't be made if you're not an artist, and especially a painter because some kind of issues appear only if you're involved in painting, closely.
Loved getting to see and hear Paul Bowles
Scully's exploration of Matisse really opened up aspects of his own work to this viewer
A MASTER CLASS ON MATISSE DONE BY AN OUTSTANDING ARTIST
Thank you Very much, Mr Scully
Brilliant and insightful documentary into both Scully and Matisse! As you can see I speak Matisse.
Paul Bowles, Arthur Danto, Public IMage LTD, Khaled, Matisse, Morocco, Painting, printmaking, hell yes! Thank you Sean Scully
What an absolutely beautiful immersion into this artistic period...... for me, a complete novice. Merci.

thank you Casey Klahn for reintroducing. I look forward to people appreciating your work similarly
You get the sense that Scully can see right through people. He is a master.
Or he has x-ray specs.
