Guys... I had 5 years when I first saw this. 5. And it still remains on my heart. I often listen to their "bell music" And I recognise the video everywhere. I know their "Song" perfectly. Very nice work catching this beauty. Thumbs up, even after 10 years on yt :D
@tryby12 One of the wigwags was swallowed up in a sink hole that formed a couple months ago. It is supposed to be replaced after street repairs are made.
Nice BNSF "Pumpkin" paint scheme locomotive there! I hope to get a loco painted like that for my HO train layout (I already have a "Heritage", a "Swoosh," and an ex-ATSF Warbonnet, along with a few other ATSF and BN locos.) I might also update my blue-and-yellow Santa Fe GP9M with the "BNSF" lettering underneath the cab number like the other locomotive on that train here. (My layout doesn't have any wig-wags, but there is a crossing with a Griswold signal!)
I have a friend who works right by that wig-wag! He's a real estate agent for Feagley realty --his name is Declan. He found my wife and I a crazy excellent deal on a house near there! Point Richmond rocks.
Thank you so much for making your wig wag website! You have helped me to see what is left here in nor ca! Also I didn't know there was any griswold rotating banner signals here in ca. You should add Semaphore signals to your website. I subscribed!
unfortunately there are now gated signals with gs bells now and I have a feeling that the wig wags probably will be removed and they will be replaced with new signals and it would have been a quad crossing with the gated signals installed.
@chcknmr Or just install gates with no lights. I know that's been done a few times with crossing here without a gate. A Griswold signal with no gate is just like having an old wigwag crossing IMO.
The train crossings in my city(Jakarta) is more worst most of the lights are broken and only the sound and the gates are working(but some still work) and still manually controlled and no chance to repair it
Those idiots climbing over the train are going to end up like the guy who walked through my train once, he now has no legs and was found by another crew who almost ran him over
I heard the Point Richmond wigwags were left in place after they installed newer gates? Still, I doubt any gate would of stopped those fools hopping freight cars.
those idiot bicycle riders could have been hurt or killed if that train lurched either forewads and backwards and yes they are trespassing. when i was a small child living in glendora ca, these type signals protected the tracks at grand ave and foothill bulibard roads .

used to watch this video a lot when I was like three and four years old thanks for the memories man!
hi
It's old, rare, and cool.
@tryby12 One of the wigwags was swallowed up in a sink hole that formed a couple months ago. It is supposed to be replaced after street repairs are made.
What when was this never heard about that anywhere
Anyone notice the Safetran type 1 E-bell in the distance in the beginning?
***** If you look on Google street view there's a Safetran type 1 E-bell AND a GS E-bell there
***** wigwag on W richmond ave signal in distance on S Garrard Blvd
I hear one.
Yeah

2:47 that one guy's impatient!
Nice catch of two wigwags on islands! do they survive?
According to Google Maps Street View they're still there
SparkDalmatian there still there but there non operational
As display only - at the crossing. They don't operate. Gates have since been installed.
danosf At least they're not scrap!
danosf I mean why not just keep them operational with the gates and lights
Awesome video! I hope the wigwags still work.
Jaw Tooth today, they're still there, but non-functional. Gates have been installed, unfortunately.
Gametrain Productions they work now
They were fully restored and operating again on special occasions.
I have a friend who works right by that wig-wag! He's a real estate agent for Feagley realty --his name is Declan. He found my wife and I a crazy excellent deal on a house near there! Point Richmond rocks.
Also Garrard Blvd has Safetran Type 1 as another bonus

King Wasabi to pick
?
There were only two? Look how dirty they look Hey Dan thank you for cleaning them up a couple years ago you’re a good guy of cleaning wigwags stuff
RS3K too boot.. Great video
Love the "pumpkin" paint scheme!!!
unfortunately there are now gated signals with gs bells now and I have a feeling that the wig wags probably will be removed and they will be replaced with new signals and it would have been a quad crossing with the gated signals installed.
Nope! They have been restored and reinstalled and operate on special occasions.
You can thank the ding dongs on the bikes for. USE YOUR BRAINS!
a train in the beginning was the BNSF Santa Fe 2440 EMD GP30U pulling an auto train
Island wig wags and a tunnel too. Awesome!!
Awesome video!
Can please do a video of the Richmond wigwag grade crossing in 2016 ?
i was wondering if the wig wag are still there and working, becasue i would like to come down there and watch them for myself.
They are there, but sadly non-operational. New crossing gates protect the crossing now.
@chcknmr Or just install gates with no lights. I know that's been done a few times with crossing here without a gate. A Griswold signal with no gate is just like having an old wigwag crossing IMO.
@danosf So the wig wags are taken up?
I remember watching this when I was younger
The Sound For Wig Wag Likes Church
I went down there a couple of weeks ago and both are there again!
The Wig Wags were restored and reinstalled and in operation condition but only activate on special occasions.
stupid bike and another one at 2:31 what the hell are they doing going over a moving train!
I know the train stops doesn't mean u can climb flat cars and get across
But they did
Some cyclist are ignorant. Don't they know what a railroad signal is telling them?
Nope
chaosdemonwolf1 Those idiots!
this crossing would just need 2 crossing gates on both sides of crossing !
David Jamison Yep
What happens if that train stops for more than an hour and you have errands to do?
When the higher pitched bell sounds before the lower one, it kinda sounds like their going "Hel-Lo!" lol
EHHHHHHHHHHHHH >8O
The train crossings in my city(Jakarta) is more worst most of the lights are broken and only the sound and the gates are working(but some still work) and still manually controlled and no chance to repair it
How about now?... Is it still there?.
They are still standing today and activated on special occasions
who's watching in 2024?
Those idiots climbing over the train are going to end up like the guy who walked through my train once, he now has no legs and was found by another crew who almost ran him over
Well that happens if the train just stops and block the crossing, I heard it’s illegal to do that if it’s done for more than 5 minutes
Its own customizable watchlists washed and dried.
are the wigwag Signals still in used today?
No, but they are displayed in the same spot.
No. It's equipped with modern signals.
danosf can they be restored?
There is a plan to restore them. I'm involved in that. We are working with BNSF right now to get access to the property.
danosf cool
Not all quiet zones have Wayside Horns.
**UPDATE** The wigwags are still up and have been fully restored. ua-cam.com/video/-BkX0_VEo8Y/v-deo.html
They should have kept one in a museum.
this one actually sounds very good...shame that these are being replaced
if it ain't broke, don't fix it
BNSF doesn't take out historic equipment and turned them off to make new railroad crossing there.
I heard the Point Richmond wigwags were left in place after they installed newer gates? Still, I doubt any gate would of stopped those fools hopping freight cars.
The first loco is BNSF 2440.
This would make some good OLS footage.
Didn't one of these get swallowedup in a sink hole?
Yes but it is back now
WHAT A SANTA FE GP-30!!!!???
They are still there but they don't operate except on "special occasions", whatever that means. There are gates there now.
It was because of the crashes, and a protest. Really rough.
and BNSF doesn't take out historic equipment and installed the new crossings. And turned off the wig wags.
Why don't they ever make wig-wags anymore?
Because it is a completely outdated mode.
so many moving stuff just to move the wig wag which is found to be difficult to maintain
Okay, I understand now that it's against the law to make them now because they're obsolete. You guys can put this thread to rest now.
Right! Those are the people who I'd laugh at for getting hit by a train, car, or whatever.
Looks like a peaceful place to live.
Cool !!!
nice rythym
Que padre el tren naranja
In my opinion, they should have just disabled the bells on the new crossing gates and then left everything else running. That's just me.
I hear a safetran type 1
I agree!
That wasn't very smart carrying those bikes over that train. Good way to get a leg clipped off or worse.
Its not anything. The signals just sit there.
careless dude at 1:20
1:22 2:31 2:46 *DARWIN CANDIDATES*
those idiot bicycle riders could have been hurt or killed if that train lurched either forewads and backwards and yes they are trespassing. when i was a small child living in glendora ca, these type signals protected the tracks at grand ave and foothill bulibard roads .
There rare.
a good bn whiteface horn
Crack head on bike jumps through train
whats so special about a wig wag anyway?
.
What makes it look like nothing to you? Wig Wag signals are the first example of automatic railroad crossing in north america
