Facts, Conner brings magic. It's what it is
JIRI can be the Max of that division.
No Heavyweight for Alex. Should we wait three years like we did for Jones? He can fight anklelyov.
It even goes deeper than this...Short notice or not you shouldn't be getting outclassed completely or KO'd back to back at the top level in MMA. I know there are levels to this but it speaks volumes Jiri reached where he was with such defense in the first place. Glad he realized and is now planning to level up now all we need is everyone of the younger guys at the top to follow suit.
the worst thing ive heard is the manager of Alex saying he wants Jan Blachowicz next... I like Jan but thats a ridiculous matchup. Jan hasnt fought since he lost to Alex.. Magomed is clearly the most deserving contender. He has not fought Alex, he is the most hyped contender in the division, he has the longest unbeaten streak in the division, the most KOS in the division, the most ranked wins in the division.
I think the points brought up are very valid. Submission Radio mentioned MWG getting her flowers but they didn’t mention the beating she took. I like the take on Peyton Talbot. No one mentioned that he was supposed to beat on that guy. Now regarding the UFC they need to stop super stacking a single card during a year. It really impacts the other cards after. Lastly very valid points about T-city. Getting unfair criticism when his body failed him. He didn’t pull. Kelvin Gestaleum.
Thank god for Alex KO. It literally saved the entire card
Completely agree that Arlovski should have gotten a montage. Disrespectful to him to send him off that way after such a long career
he said he didnt want one u goofy
I said this months ago, not to brag. That relying on Connor was gonna screw them. Relying on a past his prime mentally ill druggie who never fights and doesn't give a shit about screwing over everyone is a recipe for absolute disaster.
So true OP, and it highlights one of the risks inherent in having huge stars in combat sports as opposed to team sports. If Mbappe gets injured, they don’t have to cancel the Champion’s League.
@@meanmrbean8641This is the fight business, and relying on goodwill is often proven to be unreliable
You're spot on for team sports too, if Mbappe or even CR7 and Messi injured or sick, the match will keep going regardless
Not for 1 v 1 sports...
Not for them
The UFC was disrespectful for giving Watterson a GSP type montage and Arlovski didn't get shit. The UFC should be ashamed of themselves to do a former champion that way, despicable behavior.
I think it was mainly for the UFC female audience
He’s not retiring
That fighting nerd missed weight and it helped him out big time.
Your general premise is correct- the anticipated presence of McGregor masked an otherwise weak card, and his withdrawal exposed it. But I didn’t hear anyone praising/respecting Talbott’s opponent … that was just terrible matchmaking considering his prior matchup against another well regarded prospect. The lack of respect for Arlovski was unfortunate but not surprising. It was the result of sour grapes from both parties… Arlovski wasn’t happy they didn’t plan to re-sign him, and Dana White wasn’t happy about having to write him that $250K check to show for 4 consecutive lackluster performances. Thus he becomes an afterthought as he was shown the door like so many others.
@joshnagel8819 - Dana White said at the post-fight presser Talbotts opponent was a tough kid despite him being a huge underdog on the betting lines
Ill help you. Conor makes it a weak card. You save them f9r other events knowing conor will draw
Your help wasn't needed. I said it better the first time, using real words and complete sentences. @xavierb9061
@@joshnagel8819 youre welcome
In fairness to UFC James Lopez was offered a full fight cheque to not fight and he still accepted Ige. So I give him credit but would also blame him if he lost not the UFC who give him the opportunity to get paid anyways.
James 😂
Diego Lopez*
@mainstreammop2711 - Need a comma in there, I don't know who James Lopez is. I do know who Diego Lopes is though
@@LynchOnSports The all important comma, yes sir
Ankalaev getting a title shot off of Johnny Walker... that is not earning it.
Unbeaten in his last 12 fights with a number of ranked wins absolutely earns it. Who deserves it more?
@@LynchOnSports Nobody has clearly earned it in that division right now, and that is another supporting reason to give him the heavyweight chance. Ankalaev needs to beat somebody else first 100% and Pereira said he wanted a break anyway after this one (even though he was back training already lol).
He should have got the nod against Jan, who is a former champion. Fought him to a draw and finished Walker. He can't fight Hill or Jiri right now, Hill is injured and Jiri just fought. Jan is still recovering from injuries. Who could he fight?
@@LynchOnSports Oezdemir coming off that brutal KO on Walker, Rakic, Krylov, Roundtree cause suspension should be up soon. Doesn’t matter, but a title shot off a Walker win is straight Dagestani privilege.
Jiri got a second chance at the shot. Ankalaev surely deserves it
Still dealing with the aftermath of ufc 300. This card definitely didnt live up to the expectations. I’d be upset if I bought tickets to this event.
Yup. 299 and 300 were super stacked
Remember Lopez had to go up to 165.That should be taken into account.
It was but fans still shit on his performance
He did great in my opinion
Arlovski didn’t want a send off. Heard it on “The Fighter vs The Writer” podcast if I remember correctly.
Really? Ok that's the first I've heard of that
I saw some things I thought was fishy about the card Michelle Watterson looked like she didn't try to even get up in her fight. She just stayed in her guard the whole fight never tried to get out of her position I know this fight wasn't big but I noticed because this was the first fight that I tuned in to watch I've been watching the UFC since 1994 and I think us as fans are settling and not calling out this it seems at the Ian Garry fight that neither guy wanted to finish the fight almost like they agreed not to finish each other page didn't even defend Garry's takedowns and the worst is the post fight press conference were the USC reporters are always the same reporters and they never ask Dana White the hard questions That's what upsets me the most it was a really bad card besides the Diego and Pereira fight in my opinion!!!
The ufc offered a 50% refund... and dana acted like it was an accomplishment that no one took the offer. Wow.
And this year has had a ton of really mid fight nights and too many last minute fights. Super unprofessional and disrespectful.
Hey Lynch. Where can i find the ufc documentary?
I'm glad you brought this up
And I also don't think Dan deserves a rematch with Lopez, he came in there a fresh
Who is saying that?
@@LynchOnSports lots of people in the comments on IG.
@@LynchOnSports Dan was in training camp for 3 months and Diego had 2 weeks notice, not to mention Ige didn't have to cut any weight. Ige revealed the text saying so himself that he was ready and already prepared.
James do you wear a garmin?
Which model?
Epix 2, best watch I've ever owned
@LynchOnSports Refreshingly honest journalism. --- you rock, James!
10:48 Colby was on submission radio after the card, he said Garry doesn’t deserve him. Colby said he wanted a higher ranked opponent and Garry isn’t a draw
Colby isn't in a position to choose anything. I haven't seen the interview yet
Leon exposed colby trash. He knows it calling out poirer oliveira etc..lightweights. colby beat old guys now looking small guys
@@xavierb9061 hate all you want but Colby made a massive amount of money in MMA from trash talk. He said he was set for life after the second Usman fight.
Great video
When Conor is on a card, the undercard is weak. I think in the end when Conor w/d they should have made it a fight night. If you take a step back after you get done kissing Alex Pereiras butt for saving the day, it was a weak card on paper. I was waiting for the day where Conor w/d and it bites them cause the undercard SUCKED!. Periera was fighting his 5th fight in 14 months. Nobody was saying that either James. The Constant Activity will catch up. Also, I think Rogan has fans scared that Alex Periera cant beat Magomed Ankalev. Alex needs to get wins at LHW. HW is a mess. It will take at least a year to get it back into shape. It was odd when I found out the governor had to sign off. When did the Governor of Nevada have to sign off on a UFC Fighter? Thats odd as fuck. Why cant the UFC just admit, that they needed Dan and Diego to fight cause it would have been a weak 4 fight card. Also, Dana got 15.9 M at the gate. He wanted 20M. Fans didnt care when Conor w/d cause he is scared of Chandler im Sorry
I disagree with the Payton talbott take he gets hype from the Cameron saiiman fight
I'm saying he was supposed to win in dominant fashion, I want to see him tested more
A lot of valid points brought up
Didn’t even talk about the Smith Vs Dolidze fight which was last minute and was originally Hill Vs Ulberg or Rountree I don’t even know at this point
And? The point of the video is they need to make stronger cards
Wow really bummed me out to hear that was Arlovski’s last fight 😔 dana must have sum sorta beef doesn’t make sense
I agree that the ufc should stack McGregor cards more. I understand that, from their perspective, they don’t need to because the PPV will still sell, but the UFC used to use popular headline fighter cards to showcase up-and-coming talent or give opportunities to veterans to be in front of a larger audience. For example, the Ferguson co-main of ufc 229 to attempt to build the next 155 title fight, and the Derrick Lewis fight on that card was the “hot balls” moment that made the masses pay attention to Lewis.
Or at the 2022 IFW, where they put O’Malley on Izzy’s card.
Stacking the cards also mitigates the desperate need for short-notice replacement fights. Some fights aren’t worth salvaging. That Smith v. Dolidze fight was terrible. I’ve never seen Smith look that bad.
Also agree that Garry disappointed. He did enough with the back takes to win the first and third round, but his striking was underwhelming in the second round.
next!!
Cruz 🇺🇲 vs 🇺🇲 Talbott
Being a UFC fan since 2004......my god has it gone downhill in the last 5 years! The glory days are LONG GONE!
I agree with everything!
Heres what i dont understand people want to see Alex p go to heavyweight but have an issue with Islam going to 170? They both have contenders to fight in Arman and Magomed.
Exactly. Islam even has 3 title defences. Alex has 2, and the most recent was a rematch. Yes Islam rematched Volk, but that would be 3 defences with 2 new opponents. Alex has 2 defences with 1 new opponent in Jamahal. Now there is talk from Alex's manager about Jan Blachowicz who Alex has already beat... These rematches are undeserved and undesired. He must fight Ankalaev otherwise it appears they are ducking Ankalaev.
@Izzy-zh8ck - They both don't have that many title defenses, but you're right there is a double standard
@@tacotacotington3638 nah. There is no guarantee that Jones or Stipe will retire. Dana wants to do a Unification bout. With Jones Stipe at the end of the year, the Unification with the Interim would be later on in 2025. Pereira has Ankalaev as a clear contender. They will fight and if he wins, perhaps he can wait to face the winner of the HW Unification.
Islam fought a 145lber twice and Dustin coming off one win...I like Islam more than Alex but Alex's wins are 100% better. Arman is a more clear cut contender than Magomed. Magomed's last 3 wins are against Walker, Smith and Santos...
@@tarzanstrickland Except Alex has offered Magomed the fight and Magomed turned it down because Magomed wanted it in Abu Dhabi on his terms...funny how you people just happen to leave that fact out.
Yes, it was always a fight worthy of its own slot, its own build up... a BMF type fight with two favourites, as wheeled out to help create a decent 300, would have been a better solution. The UFC is lost. You can see the heavier and heavier reliance on a handful of exciting fighters to create a treat every few months, and wasting fights that are events on their own, as fillers.
JIri... anyone else beats Pereira... it's possible, he did a lot better with a second bite of the cherry, he's not invulnerable, he's just really smart and ruthless and skilled, a killer combination, and title fights are earnt... in two years time... JIri may have earnt another shot. And now you have, on top of being hustled to come back from injury, now such an important fight on short notice... Does Alex have a retirement date in mind? Be busy because he plans on not fighting a day over 40?
And Jiri needs to work on stylistic flexibility. Imagine if he'd waited out the last seconds of the first round? The fight may have finished the same, but to learn to dismantle a fighter rather than demolish, he's been so successful with his style, he's so admired for it, he has the learning curve of knowing when to play cat and mouse, when taking risks, make it count... he comes in with a jab, Alex lets rip with a fully wound up left hook, right on the jaw. Eat the jab for the hook. So Jiri has plenty to do as he continues to fight - he's hardly been in the UFC and not a single fight was a cake walk. All top, dangerous guys.
Conor last fought in the UFC 3 years ago and only 4 times in the last 6 years. Who knows how he would do at 170 after such a long layoff . He should be a preliminary fighter and not on the main card since his record is 1 win and 3 losses in the last 6 years . A talented striker in his prime but his chin and endurance were mediocre at best .
Lately when Conor McGregor fights nothing spectacular happens outside of him getting stopped...
Thanks Clay, I watch Conor McGregor fights too. Him just being on the card is a massive deal regardless if he loses or not.
@@LynchOnSports
Oh I agree, it's just that a lot of us keep chasing that ghost in Conor looking for that spectacular Eddie Alvarez performance and that Conor McGregor is gone and never to return...
But in any case James my man, you be well...
Bro said he didn’t feel like this was bigger than ufc 300. Duh
@John-hs4om - I just meant in general, it didn't have a big card feel. No need to nitpick
I’m glad u mentioned Conor’s original card being better. There’s just nothing compared to a Conor fight and the buzz was building before the press cancellation. Anyone saying this card was better is just a Conor hater. I was looking forward to this so much before the doubt came.
I agree
Andre didn't retire. So what do you want... it's weird when someone is too old to be fighting isn't gonna stop but isn't ufc level. Why would they have a montage for him.
He's not fighting in the UFC anymore. You think it's weird that someone who has been with the company close to 20 years shouldn't get a montage?
It may be bigger what's Conor McGregor on the card, but that isn't necessarily better than what we got for a main event.
I would have rather seen Jiri and Alex have full camps
Agreed with literally all of these takes. And the only thing I'll add about Diego "not looking good" is not about him fighting IGE. Ik styles and training goes into that. What I will say is, his gas tank did not look great.. if he's fighting legit guys like Dan Ige and better opponents in 5 rounds. He's in alot of trouble, I believe.
His gas tank that "did not good great" might have to do with cutting to 145lbs, then 155lbs then settling on 165lbs
Also Diego had 2 weeks notice to fight while Ige himself said he was in training camp for 3 months...Ige had every advantage in this fight to win, especially the massive weight advantage. I don't understand how people don't understand this.
James, I agree!!!💯 We need that Ankalaev fight! Ankalaev is a killer, and he, in my opinion, absolutely deserves a title shot. It's definitely a good test for Alex and should be an exciting fight!
For what??? Getting a KO on Johnny walker??? Beating Anthony smith lmao???? Or ion cutelaba??? No he doesn’t!
@yawoifisinmidms8974 Okay, who do you want to see at 205?

@@LordHelmet78 That dosent make Ankalaev worthy of it!
I went to UFC 300 and UFC 303 if you compare a rare card that was stacked a lot of cards won’t live up to the hype
Ok I think it was on par with UFC 297 which I also covered. That wasn't a stacked card
@@LynchOnSports 297 was worse to many decisions snoozefest and no name value I’ll say on par with 302 with was also a$$
297 in terms of the card was worse, but overall feel and interest was simliar. I covered both those events live
While i dont want to see Alex move up to Light Heavyweight, I really don't think Ankalaev earned a title shot with his Johnny Walker win - especially since it was a NC the first time they fought - no ways.
Undefeated in his last 12 with ranked wins
How did Poatan earn a title shot?
@@rudi5139 He beat Jan.
@@LynchOnSports I don't deny that. My point is that he wasn't able to get decisive wins against the top 5 at the first time of asking (First Jan then Johnny Walker). He arguably should've been DQ'd against Walker the first time. And since many people have KO'd Walker, I feel like he needs to beat a top 5 guy first.
Ankalaev deserves it. Bummer Hill vs Rountree fell out since Rountree looks pretty good as of late. Ulberg is also a person that can move up towards a title shot soon. Other than 300, UFC fights don’t feel as big as the time back when a 205lbs three round main event used to headline a PPV.
What has Ankalaev done to even deserve a title shot? He’s coming off wins against two cans in Johnny Walker and Anthony Smith, and a boring draw again Blachowicz that wasn’t impressive at all. I guess he beat Krylov, but that was another ho-hum decision win back in 2021. I think he should have to fight and win against one of Hill/Jan/Rakic/Jiri to even get a title shot. But I guess there really isn’t anyone else at LHW that makes sense to fight for the belt. Incredibly weak division when you have Johnny Walker ranked 7th and Anthony Smith ranked 11th ☠️
Unbeaten in his last 12 fights, whether you like it or not Walker and Smith were both RANKED wins. If not him, who else? And no Pereira shouldn't get to move up to heavyweight after two title defenses. That's BS
@@LynchOnSports Walker should have got DQ win
Every main events, main card and co-main should have a back up fighter ready to take on if needed, so fighers are also aware of the back up fighers and they can include strategy for back up too in the trainings.
I don't understand the people talking bad about Ortega either. The dude got sick, what's he supposed to do about that?
He should of never signed the contract to begin with.

@@thecasual7036 dude, Ortega hasn't fought twice in one year since 2018. One of the biggest reasons is the amount of damage he always absorbs. Ortega choked Yair after getting bludgeoned in rd 1. Ortega and his team knew they should have never signed the contract or at least negotiated a catch weight. Ortega mentioned he was moving up to '55 which should've been a strong indication he wasn't interested in the fight to begin with.
10:07 I thought all the Irish came to support Conor? Ian got the loudest boo’s. Even after he “won”. The Irish were invisible or not cheering
Where did I say fans were cheering for Garry?
@@LynchOnSports I never said that. I’m making the point Ian said he was a superstar. Turns out he’s not.
I watch it on TV and I don't know if they're doing something with the audio cuz I really didn't hear the crowd maybe once and the same thing in Saudi Arabia I did not hear the crowd at all
Many aren't following the 'herd' mentality of Connor McGregor anymore because he's been pulverized by Dustin P. twice and creating constant havoc outside octagon while tantalizing everyone in attempt to stay relevant. I thought the card didn't miss a beat, however the main fight didn't entertain like we hoped because Alex did what Alex does
ANKALAEV dosent deserve anything! He beat Johnny walker, ion cutelaba, and Anthony smith! Also Jan messed up his legs bad and his kicks are nowhere near ALEX’S! Ankalaev needs to fight a legit contender!

@@LynchOnSports plenty of ranked wins??? Against who? Johnny walker? I know you don’t mean Anthony smith and ion cutelaba??? Who else???
@yawoifisinmidms8974 - Yes Smith and Cutelaba were both ranked. Who deserves the title shot more? Lets hear your solution instead of just bickering about my opinion
Smith was extremely washed when they fought and ion has literally lost to EVERYBODY! once again Ankalaev needs to fight atleast 1 good contender! I get it that there’s not a lot of options right now but that dosent mean that u just put in someone who’s BEST win in the UFC was Johnny walker! You could do Alex vs JONES, ALEX vs the winner of Aspinall and Blades, Alex vs the winner of dricus and Izzy to reclaim a second belt! All of those are better than Ankalaev who’s only good win was getting a KO on Johnny walker who a GUST OF WIND could KO at this point! If beating Johnny walker gets you a title shot now then I want to fight Johnny walker because I might just get lucky and KO him when my fist misses his face and the wind touches him!
@yawoifisinmidms8974 - Didn't answer my question. Who deserves the title shot more?
At least ur not like mma joey who likes to take big dumps on every card the ufc comes up with 😂 but respect James on ur honest opinions
We're different :)
Everyone who attended in that crowd should never be allowed to another UFC event, there was absolutely zero energy in the building. I understand the card didn't play out as the most entertaining card ever but if you need it to be in order for you to actually cheer and care about what you're watching then take your casual ass back home
If conor headlines at the sphere innend works out better
I don't think we should have short notice fights under 4--6 weeks, that should be the short notice limit..There is just too much on the line, and your not getting the best version of these fighters, so the results are never really conclusive..It's OK if a fight gets cancelled, and the card isn't as good..I think the UFC should go back to quality cards, instead of the quantity ESPN era cards..One Numbered card a month, and 1 or 2 under cards..Ya, it was obvious that Ortega was sick, and he was trying to shake it, which led to the last minute thing..Arlovski has made alot of money in fight purses, several million, he was making around 300,000 a fight, so the UFC did take care of him.
I have to agree. Jan almost beat magomed with leg kicks alex would destroy him with leg kicks. Jan was alex toughest test. Id like to see jan vs jamal or yiri to get back in there.
Ankalaev has 2 wins in the last 2 years! ( Since July 2022) Against medicore competition.... wild.

@@rudi5139 Bruv, Ank also almost lost to an aging Jan, was a draw
I’m saying that while yes, he’s next in line for a shot, he’s probably not going to be as dominant as we think
He only uses his grappling when he either hurts someone or gets hurt himself, has low fight IQ, his wins aren’t that impressive in hindsight after watching what’s happened to Walker, has zero submissions…
The biggest threat he poses is GnP, but we’ve also seen Alex is quite solid at stopping GnP situations from getting bad
He’s a great fighter no doubt, but I think
1. His ego is gonna cost him
2. He’s got nothing for Alex on the feet, which is where Ank spends most the fight
3. His legs are gonna get cooked by Alex, we saw he couldn’t handle Jan’s kicks
If he gets him to the ground, yea, it’ll be interesting, but how much damage is he gonna take before he gets it there? We saw against Jan that yes, Ank is a better wrestler, but his striking leaves him wide open for counters, and he didn’t start really focusing on the ground game until he was badly hurt🤷♂️
This is why I never buy the PPvs
When is the last time Conor fought for title.l guess when you lose the majority of the time. There are no championships for fighters who lose.
Ortega does not need the same energy as Calvin gosselin got and I don't know why people are acting like it's the same thing that's some casual bulshit.
No issue with taking a short notice fight, but you do so knowing you have to make weight. Why did he accept a short notice fight at 145 when he was bulking to 155? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that won’t work
@@michaelscylla3188 well the UFC knew it. Listen to his interview. It was a last minute fight. Unlike someone who had a full camp.

How did it go from a 21 million dollar gate at the top of the month to a 15 million dollar gate at the end? Dana said nobody wanted refunds 🤔
A number 7 lightweight who has beaten only Dan Hooker and Tony Ferguson vs an over the hill Conor McGregor is not a better headliner than what we got.
I hate the UFC!! I love MMA. They are killing the sport like they've been doing for years! Buying every rival and killing regional competition now with DWCS. I agree the card got better without Conor. I wouldn't of watched if Conor was on it. Worth turning off.
