It's kinda crazy that even as bad as this case performs, it's still performing (slightly) better than the garbage Walmart is selling. Perhaps they should partner with Coolman.
with a little (or a lot) of modding I bet you could turn it into a pretty decent case, taller feet at the bottom, mesh top panel, motherboard tray cutout for cooler mounting, maybe trimming the side panels so the front fans can breathe
Honestly this just needs all the RGB off, mesh where some of the plastic is, remove the random glass panel on the top and mesh it and the flow of the fans should just be changed around a lil with bigger feet like Steve said. I think it'd be rad if it was perfected by GN, he probably has more ideas but in theory it can cool very well!
Akiro Tha' MuskyPaw'd FluffyManed Wolfaroo I think you’re right. They were a little too worried about the “gamer” aesthetics but had a not bad idea for the case
I keep seeing people in the comments saying they want the case so I thought I would let you know that Zalman is making a case called the X101 and it's the same case I assume the case in the video was made using the same molds as the Zalman just with cheaper materials then sold in bulk to different cheap Chinese brands.
I would change 3 things on this case Make the front a mesh panel and just have flat acrylic for the sides Replace the top glass pane with mesh Screw the whole top panel to the chassis
If the side windows were flat, tempered glass might not be too expensive. Curved mesh on the front, while adding an extra part, might still be easier than getting the curved acrylic to turn out well with high yield.
If you could get the oem to modify the side panels and engineer a round filter for the front, this would be $100+ case, especially with a little GN branding ;)
Wait...so you accepted paying nearly full price out of respect for the inconvenience you caused the retail staff? You are doing it all wrong! You are supposed to shout that you are an influencer and demand free product in exchange for vague promises of ‘exposure’!
You know, there are actually case producer that are going to take the beating and bow down, just to get more real exposure. I mean gamernexus do actually provide real exposure.
I dunno. I kinda feel like if a couple hairy white dudes speaking broken Chinese insisted that the vendor would never make another sale in North Carolina if they didn't get a free case, security would just politely escort them out of the building. Keep in mind, the folks they are dealing with are the equivalent of the dude working the PC section of Best Buy. You can threaten all you want, but that sales person isn't going to be able to do anything but up-sell you on some cables. No amount of 'exposure' is worth getting chewed out by your boss for letting a piece of merch walk out the door without being paid for!
I love this case design! I think given the price point spending another $100-$200 upgrading/modding the case itself could easily bring it up to the standards of a upper mid-tier case for a bit less than manufacturer cases. IMO populating the 80mm fan slots, converting the top piece to vented acrylic or using small risers with the glass, upgrading the intake fan to one of the ultra high rpm fans plus going water on both cpu/gpu would make this case a beast. Awesome of her to be willing to not only let you film ;but was also super accommodating even though you only wanted 1 unit, wish you guys would do a contest for this case!
I really want to grab one of these just to mod it. Trim back those acrylic panels some or cut out a design where the 2 areas are for the vents to let the front of the case breath, swap out the top glass for a custom made filter and put some slightly taller feet on it and i bet it would cool pretty decently.
Zalman is making the same case called the x101 I assume the case in the video used the same molds just build with cheaper materials and sold on the side under a different name.
No mom, I wanted the Three-Body Problem, not a Three-Body problem. I guess it would make a great display case for like a book or something... if I had one!
I actually don't mind this case, I quite like it. They could make some small changes to airflow and have a pretty good product on their hands. Aesthetics need a little work though. This case looks like an 8 year old, if they could push it to about 17 it'd probably sell pretty well.
It would be quite interesting to see Coolman take the criticism on board and improve this case like Coolermaster did with the H500. Chinese culture however is weird when it comes to receiving criticism (saving face and all that) so I'm not sure they would. It would still be interesting to see this case with decent airflow. Its different, its niche, but definitely something that would make for an interesting build.
GamersNexus(steve jesus) why dont you make a case with your brand? You know what is needed for god air flow, space etc....i think it would be a great idea.
It be more effective for them to work with say the meshify or another company and do a gamers nexus edition. It takes a lot of money to design, have tooling made, and manufacturers a case.
@mikes gt The fuck does it matter? They're not gonna use the case after this. It was bought as an oddity, that's all. Infact doing a hack job of making that hole highlights the huge design flaw in this case.
After spending forever looking for it... this guy is over $250 to purchase and import to the US. Definitely not called coolman or 3 body either... I'd buy this all day for $65. I love it. After watching the video, I would still be down for $65. Only because it is so unique.
I'm poking around some huge electronics markets here in Seoul, South Korea looking for weird parts as well. These towers of floor after floor of random booths really are something to behold in person that you don't fully appreciate the scale of until you see them with your own eyes.
A really easy change they could make is mesh in the roof instead of glass, then for the side panels you can even stick to acrylic if you really wanted to, but affix it to a metal frame that extends out past the acrylic/glass and curves around the front with a curved mesh section on each panel to wrap around that front corner. Or, they could also make the mesh in that front corner clip to the case independently of the side panels, and shorten the side panels to accommodate. You're right, this design does have some untapped potential, and kinda makes me want to grab one for a mod project.
Not a bad looking case, but mods WILL be required to make it cool effectively. I'd cut the side panels level with front grate edge removing the curved part of the side panels. Remove the plastic strip at the front of the case, wrap black mesh around the front covering the black metal part of the case. I'd raise the case by about 20mm letting the bottom fan breath properly. I'd remove the glass from the top & replace that with black mesh & flip the fan over to suck air out the top of the case. That should fix the cooling issue drastically. How about doing something too this case like what I'd do. It would be an interesting exercise in your awesome modding abilities Steve. Keep the great videos coming mate.
You could replace the top glass with a custom cut piece of acrylic with some vents. You can also use clear acrylic tubing and some quick set epoxy epoxy to raise the case off the floor. remove the front corner piece and this thing could be half decent and it is quite a unique look. I dig it honestly....
TRY this laying the case on the back where cables are side and move a fan from the front to the back and close the case i think this will make it way better imo and not too much work required
It probably wouldn't be too hard to make that good. - Replace top glass with mesh - Use standard tempered glass for side panels with a front mesh pillar doing the curve and feeding the fans - Redesign the rear of the motherboard tray for better cable management - Screw in the panels - Put taller feet on the bottom - Make the case 5% longer, and maybe 3% wider - Include standoffs and RGB>mobo cable
I would take those side panels and cut patterns into them towards the front, then put some fine mesh between them and those airflow cutouts. I'd also replace that tempered glass on top with mesh and secure that top panel from the inside with a few thumbscrews. Seriously, this would be a wonderful base for case modding.
I just happen to have watched a video on some cool Zalman cases that were are Computex 2019 and this case was there in their booth. Never heard of them but they had some crazy looking cases on top of RGB fans and lights.
It seems like if they got rid of the curved side panels and just used shorter flat panels (real glass even :P) and left the front where all those slots are cut out open for air flow for the front fans, it would likely do a bit better. Then put mesh on the top, raise the height up a bit for clearance for the bottom to breath, throw in some decent fans on the back for exhaust and it might be a half decent little case with a really neat design aesthetic. Either way I really like the look of it and it looks like it would be a fun project build to make it both look awesome and function better than stock for cooling by cutting/rebuilding things a bit (which shouldn't be too hard considering most of the problem components are just plastic and even the metal isn't that solid as evidenced by the mods you guys already did to it to fit your GPU into it).
9:35 It's still amazing that the Silverstone Raven RV02 is still the best cooling case after so many years. I'm surprised other case manufacturers haven't adopted similar design. I like my Raven but it's just too big.
I really wish the last 5 minutes was modding this case by opening up the front, and reversing the bottom fan. That would have made this really fun to watch
6:25 I wonder, if you were to put 4 fans on the PSU side, remove the front fans and put 2 80mm fans on the CPU side as exhaust, how would thermals change?
I want someone to make this case right... I can see why you fell for this... I want the overall design. I want the handle on the top, The 2 200mm fans is a really cool idea, I just want them with exhaust in top. Make it higher from the ground, remove some of the glass and give us some mesh so it can breathe. As you say, this COULD be a really interesting case.
I noticed that for whatever reason a lot of Chinese cases are not using fans properly to the point of mounting them against a glass panel without any vents...
just took a look at taobao, the price you paid is lower than the "MSRP" of 499 yuan actually. though most of the coolman cases are like that, led fans against acrylic panels
So remove the glass top, the handle, cut the plastic where it rounds the corners, get some black rubber furniture feet and some black plastic window screen. Black electrical tape a strip of window screen to the front where the plastic used to cover with the tape under the plastic panels to hide it, put the feet on the bottom and glue some window screen on the top over the fan after reversing it and all fixed.
Will the Coolmam Three-Body case be included in statistics comparison with future case reviews? I'd love to see future comments from users who are confused the hell out of that product name of they haven't watched this video.
I would raise the tempered glass on top and add tall foot pegs to the bottom. Cut the curve off the plastic side panels and cut the front corner grill out and add a mesh around it instead. Could be a good case after all these mods but I cant find it
So following your benchmarks, the Silverstone FT02/RV02 still is the best case for air cooling? That's disappointing, as I am not so glad with my FT02, because it's way too loud for my taste with the bottom fans at max, while the cooling seems insufficient with the bottom fans at min. What about testing the newer FT0n cases?
Hey Gamers Nexus could you review Scythe coolers? much cheaper than noctua, their radiator + 2 noctua fans at $70 is much cheaper than a nh15 with same performance
would have been interesting to see if the case could be modded to actually work - take that plastic panel and cut a fan hole then install some kind of grille etc
Don't you have SilentiumPC cases is USA? In europe it's one of the best entry level - e.g RG4T got tons of clearence, 3x120mm fans in the box, actually glass window, dust filters on every vent, a lot more and its less than 50$.
Disappointing thermal results even after modding top fan into an exhaust. Still some combination of bottom intake and top+back exhaust should be the way to go for a solid transparent panel design.

Such a shame that the case is awful, because it looks really cool. I'd love to see a real manufacturer do a triangular case like this.

Black electrical tape a strip of window screen to the front where the plastic used to cover with the tape under the plastic panels to hide it, put the feet on the bottom and glue some window screen on the top over the fan after reversing it and all fixed.
Making the case slightly bigger/taller may give better cable management and probably better airflow as well. Like the Design.

I would raise the tempered glass on top and add tall foot pegs to the bottom. Cut the curve off the plastic side panels and cut the front corner grill out and add a mesh around it instead. Could be a good case after all these mods but I cant find it
Also add a mesh fan grill over the bottom fan so you wouldn't have issues with wires brushing it as a safety precaution

would have been interesting to see if the case could be modded to actually work - take that plastic panel and cut a fan hole then install some kind of grille etc
I can't wait for the Phanteks Enthoo Luxe 2 review!
That disaster intro is perfection.
best intro till now
That B-Roll shot with the backlit LN2 fog was AWESOME! The case...... ehhhh
You guys should open a clandestine marketing firm. :P
2:00 You could have used a Dremel to make that cut. 🤨
i just spent a solid 5 minutes spamming "K" to see that tiny little flash of a picture at 4:05
Exactly same here.
For what it's worth, you can press , to go back one frame at a time and . to advance one frame at a time!
@@optiquest86 i didnt know that, thats extremely helpful
Don't you have SilentiumPC cases is USA? In europe it's one of the best entry level - e.g RG4T got tons of clearence, 3x120mm fans in the box, actually glass window, dust filters on every vent, a lot more and its less than 50$.
And hey. It beat the Walmart Case, technically, so there is that.
I got a cardboard box that beats the Walmart case.
I looks like a dehydrator, wonder if you stick the right parts in it if you could actually make jerky.
Disappointing thermal results even after modding top fan into an exhaust.
Still some combination of bottom intake and top+back exhaust should be the way to go for a solid transparent panel design.
More strange case reviews would be interesting. Also, whatever happened to those cloth computer cases a computex?
