I don't think he's trying to convince anyone about anything, particularly not you. American cars lack the most important: durability and quality. And then I won't go into details about how horrific their taste of interior design is, they have yet to produce one car which comes within eyesight of any of the German cars, even the cheap ones. I owned Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge RAM in the past, and a couple other models, won't list them all, and they all lacked durability, mostly because of the substandard quality materials used to build the interior. They might be fast, look good from the outside, but for me, the magic ends when I open the door and touch the cheap Chinese plastic interior surfaces, that start to creak after 5k miles. I still have my father's 1994 W140 S500 with nearly 500k km on the odometer - the interior is in perfect condition and the car has no technical issues at all. Although it was taken very good care of, I must add, my father used to own a garage and he was himself a mechanic. And it is not outstanding at all, there are many German cars like that, some with a lot more mileage than that of mine...
